Fit 'n' Furry

Fit-n-Furry doggie daycare is the safest, healthiest, most effective, convenient, exciting, caring, fun and positive place for our dog, Leo. We had tried 6 other local daycares over a period of a year all run by people who were also very friendly and capable. These are our top 5 reasons why we only go to Fit-n-Furry.

#1) TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT At first I thought the setting for our Leo should be out in nature with sunshine and fresh air but NO! Our Leo gets terribly hot and miserable very fast - especially if he's playing. I would leave him at other daycares with his doggie jacket on when it was a cold winter day. The jacket would be a problem when the dogs would play so theyd have to take it off. Basically I was worrying about whether or not he was having a good time or just too hot or too cold. Now I enjoy the sunshine and fresh air with Leo in the little segments of time we have together and then he hangs at Fit-n-Furry where the temperature is always just right.

#2) THE HALF DAY OPTION At the all-day daycares I was paying for a 2-hour nap-time. My goal for Leo at daycare is to play and interact and, of course, burn energy! The Fit-n-Furry half-day option is IDEAL. Leo doesnt get burned-out with 8 hour stints, so I feel good about doing more days a week at less time per day and I feel I really get my moneys worth no kenneled nap time. I also dont have to stress out about the exact time to drop him off and pick him up my coming and going feels very casual and comfortable.

#3) THE WEB CAMERAS Fit-n-Furrys web cameras greatly increase my trust in them. At one daycare they went back into the kennels to get our Leo when I came to pick him up. This gave me a terrible sinking feeling that maybe they were kenneling our Leo all day????!!! How would I know? And I had this feeling at another daycare where I knew he was kenneled periodically as small dog groups took turns playing in the playroom. Our Leo is quite a handful really energetic and demanding. I could understand caregivers getting annoyed or tired of his pestering and just lock him up.

#4) THE PHILOSOPHY This really is critical for me. Over time I have come to understand that Fit-n-Furrys goal is to help me get our Leo to burn energy, have mental stimulation, and have companionship. Not all daycares are like this! I really got anxious at a different daycare when I realized their primary concern was for obedience and manners very important of course, but. We went to dog training classes for a while. We were only slightly successful with all the commands. I want to do more dog training with Leo but really, what I really need is help with giving him exercise and activity. We both work full-time. Leo wants to play full-time. The Dog Whisperer says exercise is the primary need of dogs before love and food even! When I would go to pick up Leo from this different daycare, I felt staff members were rolling their eyes in disgust with my ill-mannered wild dog and me.

Another daycare made me sign a paper that said Leo could be given a drug to keep him calm! I signed it but we never went for daycare even though Leo would have been able to trot through her home and sleep on her couch.

When I talk to staff at Fit-n-Furry about how it is for them to deal with our Leo, who I know can play very rambunctiously, the gentle, basic message/response I have continually received is that as long as everybodys safe, so long as safety is not a concern in the behavior and no one is being harmed in any way, the dogs can play!

#5) THE STAFF & FACILITY There are a lot of smiling, pleasant, easy-going, friendly people at Fit-n-Furry. All of the other daycares we experienced also had very nice people. I hope they are all doing well. I have had to make choices that are best for Leo though. These are some of the particular highlights of the kindnesses and things I have admired about and experienced at Fit-n-Furry.

The owners adopted a dog from the shelter when theirs passed. I appreciate that theyre NOT into breeding and selling puppies. I am a huge advocate of reducing the number of breeders and available puppies for sale. Theres a cookie jar for Leo to access! They bathed Leo with no prior notice/appointment after Leo threw himself into the Petaluma River muck/paste - they even trimmed his nails! The place is immaculate, brightly lit, and flowers are blooming outside. I have often seen Leo sitting on the laps of staff members which REALLY makes me glad I love to hug and pet Leo and I feel that the staff does too! Overall I feel that everyone is just very happy with our business and there are no issues for me to be worried about.

Fit-n-Furry allows me to have Leo be a major part of my daily life by getting to commute with him and hang with him at work for 3 or so hours nearly every day. I am so very grateful.

Daisy and Sweetie love being at Fit and Furry. The staff is incredibly attentive, patient and loving. We call to check on our dogs everyday we are away. Our dogs love going there. We know our dogs are happy and well cared for while we are away. We just picked them up after six days away and they were glowing with happiness and good health. The people at Fit and Furry love pets. Our dogs love going there and wag their tails when we pull up to
the building. Grateful to have such a great facility for our dogs in our hometown.

We won't leave our yorkies anywhere else but Fit 'n' Furry (they are a year and 6months old) From the first time we walked in to inquire about their services, we were greeted by a super friendly staff and Ben, who gave our dogs their 'doggie evaluation' is fantastic. We are very, very picky about who and where we will leave our 'babies' with, but we know the staff at 'Fit 'n' Furry' are responsible, caring and loving.

I had my dog stay with Fit N Furry for 5 nights. They offer a day care service where boarded dogs can play together in a room that has a webcam. I signed my dog up for daycare every day she was there. When I got to my destination, my family and I logged on to the web cam several times every day at different times, and she was never in the play room. On December 27, 2008 I called and asked why she was not in the playroom, and less than 2 minutes later she appeared on the camera. When I went to pick her up, the owner was at the desk. I looked at the bill and said I was not sure she had ever actually been in the play room except for when I called and asked. She insisted that my dog had been in the room every day, and was very, very rude to me. I cannot say that I have been spoken to that rudely at ANY business before. She said (paraphrasing) "are you calling me a liar?" and "I don't know what to tell you, she was in that room every day" in a nasty tone that made me edgy. They ended up giving me $10 off my bill, but would not admit that they might have made a mistake, and were RUDE to boot! My issue is not so much with the fact that they made a mistake and did not bring the dog into the play room, but with the fact that they were not cordial and unwilling to take steps to make it right and make me feel like I was being taken care of. It does not seem like too much to ask, the Bill was $300.

we left our dog franco there for over a week and he really had a great time. he was safe and sound with caring young enthusiastic associates who really like dogs !!!
It is great to have a place to board our dog that is totally unique and stress free for the pet and us too !!!

I have never felt so comfortable leaving my pets somewhere, as i have with Fit'n'Furry. It is very convenient for me being that i own both dogs and birds and can leave them both in the hands of their staff. I was unsure about the whole "all indoor" thing, but once the staff showed me their indoor potty rooms i was sold. I will defiantly be using them in the future for all my boarding needs.

Norman has been going to Fit 'n' Furry for 5 months 1-2 days a week for daycare both full and half days. He loves it there ( we can't say fit 'n' furry unless we're ready to put him in the car to go over there; otherwise he's a maniac). We can't get him out of the car fast enough and if the staff isn't quick enough to get him into the daycare room he commeces the ear piercing barks until they do.
Everyone who works there is great and we love it- never thought we would be doggie daycare people. Norman never fails to be worn out when he comes home.
Buy the half or full day passes and give your dog a treat!

I can not say enough about Fit 'N' Furry, our dog is treated like royalty and the staff treat her like their own! She LOVES playing with her friends in daycare and enjoys the pampering she gets in the "doggie spa" as we call it :) I love that they evaluate each dog individually and find out all about their personality and special needs/preferences. I HIGHLY recommend Fit 'N' Furry to anyone who loves their pets, and especially to particularly picky pet owners such as myself!

What a positive first experience I had at Fit 'n Furry last week! I brought in my cat for grooming of her very matted fur and I found the entire staff to be professional and friendly. A staff member gave me a tour of the building while I waited, and the groomer did a fantastic job with a wonderful approach to my typically crabby cat. The service was reasonably priced too.

Right off 101 in Petaluma this place is very hip and really does a good job at pampering pets. Aside from being a boarding facility for dogs and cats they do grooming and training too.

I have to say that I have never seen a business quite like Fit N Furry. It has four different departments in a 17, 000 square foot proximity. The owners and the employees truly love animals. That is easy to see. The phrase going the extra mile for the pets and their parents really has meaning there. It is a place I would feel very comfortable leaving my cherished pets, and I recommend it to anyone who has pets of their own and need a high quality place to leave them. Whether it be for daycare, for a grooming, for training, or for boarding, your pets will be in good hands. A bath is complimentary after a stay of four days or over. Also, the fountain located by the suites gives it the true pet hotel look.

One of the finest pet care facility I have seen. All indoors and climate controlled, the dog boarding suites and kitty condos are very comfortable, clean and luxurious. They also have a doggie daycare center with fun little playgroups, and an awesome grooming spa for spoiled pooches. I haven't tried their dog training yet but I heard from a friend that it is very good as well, with either group sessions or private training for special needs.
