I use to work at 30 Newbury spa when I was 21 years old and it was the most stress full place to work at. Leeann use to be the owner there and her brother Edward was so rude to people. when Leeann would go out of town and leave Edward in charged, i would have to argue with him to get my check. one time he yelled at me in front of clients and i waited till we where alone to tell him that i do not like how he talks to me. but he never changed so i had to leave. i was there for two years and when i wanted to use Leeann as a reference since i was there for so long she gave a bad review to my old boss. i got the job but it is not because of her. my thing is if i was so bad why did you keep me for so long. I would not recommend anyone to work there or go there for any treatment

I booked an appointment for a massage and a pedicure at 30 Newbury St Spa, 4th floor. Shortly after booking this appointment I called the Spa and spoke to the owner, Mr. Edward Blair, to cancel my appointment and reschedule just the massage for another date. He held this appointment with my credit card saying he would bill me if I did not show up OR did not give 24 hours to cancel. Needless to say, I did show up for the appointment and paid for the massage with a gift card. However, Mr. Blair DID NOT CANCEL my original appointment for the massage and the pedicure, and he fraudulently billed my credit card $150. I have complained to my credit card company, the Better Business Bureau, and to Mr Blair who has been very rude and unprofessional in his approach to me and has not refunded me the $150. I am now in contact with Consumer Affairs and Licensing to still try to resolve this issue, and if need be will take Mr. Blair to Small Claims Court. I understand several other clients have had similar complaints to mine. DO NOT GO TO 30 NEWBURY SPA, BEWARE! AND, PLEASE, DO NOT LEAVE A CREDIT CARD NUMBER WITH HIM.

I had the worst laser hair removal here ever. The esthetician offered no aftercare ideas afterwards, so my skin was left dry and cracked for a long period afterwards. This place scams you for so much money and then leaves you in the dust as soon as they receive a payment. I felt like I was being rushed in and out of my appointment. The staff was unapologetic and the owner never called me back to resolve the issue. I am taking it to the Better Business Bureau next.

I went to 30 Newbury for a haircut last week. I decided to check out some reviews after I booked the appointment, before I went. I was so nervous, I almost wanted to call and cancel! There were definitely more good reviews than bad, but the bad ones were SCARY! Well, I am so glad I gave it a chance! Edward Blair served me tea, engaged in funny and casual conversation the whole time he cut my hair and made me feel like I was some A-list customer. I had never even been there! The cut itself was a little more expensive that I'm used to paying, but my hair looks awesome. I've never been so happy with a cut. I didn't have a definite idea when I went in, so I told Edward a little about what I wanted, and he suggested this cut. He is a hair-genius. And, I find it so strange people had such bad experiences with him! He was so nice to me, and beyond professionalism, made me feel at home in his spa.

I was going overseas in 2 days, and came to this expensive spa for a facial. I was met by an esthetician working at the spa her first day, however the spa was LOCKED! The owner didn't even show up to open the spa for clients. I had to find an alternative spa in a rush. There is something seriously wrong with the management at the spa. Stay away from it!

I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment, and was greeted at the front desk by a woman who had highlighting foils in her hair, apparently getting her hair treatment while on the job. Despite it being 'slow', I waited 35 minutes to be seen. The person giving the facial was abrupt; she played FM radio throughout (including commercials and DJ banter), and did not give any sort of neck or shoulder massage while waiting for the mask to set. I don't consider myself overly demanding or snobby, but I feel that the major part of attending a spa (and spending over $100 for a facial) is the relaxing atmosphere provided. This was hardly relaxing; I could have applied the mask by myself at home. I would not recommend this place, and probably should have read these reviews here before making my appointment.

Brad and Chapman, as well as Jessica are at 231 Newbury St-Toscana European Day Spa. The superior quality of service continues but in a much friendly, warmer atmosphere!!

I was left in tears! My boyfriend gave me a spa gift certificate for my birthday. I could have redeemed it at one of many area spas but chose 30 Newbury b/c the owner, Edward Blair, told me that both a massage and laser hair removal treatment could be covered with the certificate. Not true. I had to pay for the laser hair removal on my credit card. The staff was very apologetic and said they would have the owner call me. Imagine my surprise when I received a call from the owner, Edward Blair, not to apologize, but to berate me. He was very defensive and accused me of putting words into his mouth. He was screaming about being in the business for over 20 years (still not sure what his point was there) and then threatened me by saying "you'll never get another appointment in this business anywhere in this city again". Still not sure what his tirade was all about. I merely set out that day for a day of pampering. In fact, the irony is that I was a great customer. I paid for the laser hair removal, used my certificate for the massage, and tipped with massage therapist very well. I work as a nurse and am skilled at therapeutic communications when interacting with irrational patients but Edward Blair's outburst surpassed irrational and borders pathological. And to make matters worse, I just got my credit card bill and he fraudulently charged my credit card! I'm writing the Better Business Bureau next!

This place had some of the best talent in the beauty biz. One of their estheticians, Brad was just voted "Boston's Best 2007". Their other esthetician, Chapman gave me the best Brazilian wax I have ever had. They have both left, and not too surprising the way the owner runs this place. Read the reviews here, yelp.com, citysearch.com, you'll get the picture. And anyone who knows where Brad and Chapman went, please, please, please post here I would greatly appreciate it!
