Mornings are the best times at epoch. You can sit quietly on the deck, with and awesome cup of joe, and watch the clouds roll across the graveyard. They consistently have good coffee, food and people. It is exactly what I expect from an Austin coffee house, only better.

they rocked at first. but i was charged four bucks for a glass of tea the other day. wayyy too much, it has always been a freak show. which in austin is not so big a deal. but a high priced freak show is just too wierd

Epoch is still relatively unknown, although the people who know about it don't seem to leave! This is the best place to study late at night, because that's the primary reason people seem to be there--especially during midterms. However, it gets packed in the evening and it can be hard to grab a table.
Sometimes the employees turn the music up really loud, so be sure to bring headphones and music of your own.
