I am a fairly new patient of Dr. Field and I have had wonderful experiences with him, the dental work he has done on my teeth and his friendly, cooperative staff. Dr. Field and his staff have been very sensitive to my needs as a patient and I always feel welcome and comfortable in his office. The dental work on my teeth has been outstanding and pain free! He has never tried to sell me on work that doesn't need to be done...he has always been truthful and upfront with me. At my last appointment, the receptionist was very kind and I was able to see Dr. Field on time and he was very friendly and made me feel very comfortable. My teeth have never been better since Dr. Field has been my dentist! I highly recommend him and his office to anyone!

I have been seeing Dr. Eugene Field as my dentist for the past 15 years, and I can sincerely say that he is an excellent dental care provider and one of the warmest people I have ever met, who I consider to be my close friend. If you are looking for a new dentist who really cares about his patients, he is well worth checking out.

First off I just want to let everyone know, the RUDE receptionist is Dr. Field's Wife. So I think that is why she doesn't get fired. I have been considering writing a review on this office for awhile. First off, I wouldn't go to this dentist if i were you. One of my friends referred me to this Dentist awhile ago saying they could get me in quickly and they had pretty cool equipment and a nice office. Welp, yeah, she was right with that - but nothing else. My first visit they upsold me on a deep cleaning and did a horrible job. Most painful experience of my life! I should have not gone back. But 6 months later i did because i didn't want to judge it on just one experience. So this time I went in for my regular check up and a simple cleaning. First off I need to state that I am very on top of my dental hygiene. I have NEVER had a cavity in my whole life, have always gone for regular check ups, floss ever day (sometimes twice a day), brush after every meal, you get the picture.... Well this time when i went in, Dr Field came to look at my teeth and actually told me that they were NOT in good shape and in DANGER OF FALLING OUT! (I wish i could post a picture of my teeth on here cause this was the biggest piece of BS EVER). I totally looked at him in complete disbelief! But he told me he was telling me the truth and if I didn't start coming to see him for a special cleaning every 2 months my teeth were history. Of course, this isn't covered by my insurance. The receptionist/ wife set me up for a new appointment in two months and I walked out of the office confused and upset... After checking back to reality i thought, NO WAY I"M OUT OF HERE! I went for a second opinion and my new dentist told me this was totally untrue and my teeth, gums, mouth is in very good condition and better then 98% of his patients. When i called to cancel, the receptionist / wife was totally RUDE and practically hung up on me. Moral of the story, Dr Field needs to ditch his wife and unnecessary upselling or else everyone is gonna ditch him.

Overall, very rude front office staff. I called Dr. Field's office as I needed some x-rays for a patient who had been to their office but then came over to ours. The receptionist was very rude and refused to help me, saying my request couldn't be done. I called back about 5 min later and said it was my again and her response was rude again. I asked if I could speak to someone else and she said she was the only one there (she lied). I asked again in a different way (asking for her boss), She hesitated and got someone else on the phone. This person was nicer but was unwilling to even think about helping me get these x-rays so I could service the patient.

Receptionist is rude. Dr. Cheng messed up my tooth. Worst cleaning I have ever had - it took 5 minutes or less. They sold me expensive services which were poorly done. I left with one filling undone as I was afraid they would mess up more of my teeth. I am moving on.

The customer service at this office is horrible, I was asked by this office to have my insurance fax a copy of my coverage and after doing it two separate times the wonderful receptionist was rude and told me and my wife that she had not received it. She also asked for our last dental office to send over a copy of our latest x-rays, which of course we also did, but yes you guessed it the receptionist told us they never arrived. She then proceeded to tell us that they would not accept us as patients, just like the soup Nazi on Seinfeld. If you want a good laugh go to this dentist just to see the receptionist, but if you want good customer service from a dental office that actually cares about the people it serves steer well clear of this horrible place.

Apparently Dr. Field isn't level headed. How else can you explain the reviews below. The women at the front desk are terrible and Dr. Chang is OK. But did I mention the women at the front desk? Stay away from this place. There's way too many good dental experiences you can have in the big city. It's good that the internet let's us get the word of warning out.

I always look at reviews of places I am thinking about to going to because I am very sensitive towards service and attitudes...having worked at a 5 star hotel for over 20 years, I am super sensitive. I read here very different experiences...some have been with this dentist (Field) for a long time and love it, others have gone there and had very bad experiences....hmmmmm, I think that this dentist office has their favorites, yet is prone to not providing the same wonderful service spoken about here to everyone...I believe each person is telling their experience..as for me, I am staying clear, taking heed and not risking being a victim of rotten receptionists and
compromised dental work...simply put....the oldies are goodies but when you're new, and they "don't like you" then why bother, a business has to have at least 98% satisfied/good recommendations for it to be truly worth going to, and this one does not.

First, I want to say that Dr. Field is a nice person and a good dentist. However, that's not enough to keep me as a patient. I have had several interactions with the receptionists at the office, and almost every time they have been extremely rude (I'm not sure if it's the same one or different ones). I have no idea how they think being mean and aggressive towards patients is OK, especially since there are many other dentists in the area. Dr. Chang, who also works in the office, has also been confrontational with me. It was upsetting, because she didn't believe something I was telling her about my own teeth (which had been confirmed by several other dentists in the past). She took unnecessary x-rays, argued with me for a while, and only after seeing multiple sets of x-rays did she agree with me. Plus, she never apologized. I definitely won't be going back. It was the worst experience at a dentist's office I've ever had.

I never write reviews, but upon cruising the internet, I found my dental office and felt it needed a shout out. I have been a patient at Dr. Field's office for many years and have recommended him to everyone that has asked for a dentist (they have all been extremely pleased and always thank me :-). Dr. Field is by far the most gentle and professional dentist I have ever had. He is always cheerful and always gives his patients the time and professional treatment. I highly recommend him to anyone and everyone.

I have been seeing Dr. Field & now Dr. Cheng for 10 years and have mostly good reports. All dental work is very pain free including the Novocaine injection & Dr. E. Field always asks for feedback regarding numbness before starting surgery. I have only returned once due to a painful filling near a nerve & they did all followup work at no charge. Drs. Cheng & Field always make me feel comfortable & personable, asking about my work, hobbies, etc. and I would recommend them.

I have had nothing but troubles with this dentist from my first day. However I could deal with him making me wait 45 minutes while they ate lunch before they would see me (that was when I had an appointment) and I can deal with his front receptionist??s attitude. What I can't deal with is him. My wife went to see him while she was in pain and needed a crown. His staff and Dr. Fields didn't treat her well and actually messed up her first filling. So I posted a review online about it. He just called me and said if I don't pull down my bad review my wife can never go see him again. I'm contacting the State Department of Consumer Affairs on this guy, as far I'm concerned he should be out of business.

Do not go to this dentist. Terrible quality and unprofessional behavior. I chose Dr. Field's because he was recommended by two colleagues and is a preferred provider by my insurance. I have bad enamel, so wasn't particularly surprised to hear I had a few cavities that needed fillings. Dr. Cheng, another dentist in the office did the fillings and I am very dissatisfied. She didn't numb my mouth enough, so I felt when she started drilling, then needed a second shot. Despite rinsing after the procedure, there were tons the mercury containing amalgam bits left in my mouth. The fillings were on neighboring molars and Dr. Cheng had failed to leave space between the two teeth, so that it was impossible to floss between them. I had to return two days later for them to fix it. When I returned, Dr. Fields saw me after a 30 minute wait past my scheduled appointment. He had to file between the teeth with a sharp metal file with toothed edges. They were busy and there was no assistant available, so as he tried to saw the metal filling apart, he cut the corners and inside of my mouth making me bleed, before finally getting an assistant to help. It was the receptionist! She may have training to be a dental assistant, I do not know. I have only ever seen her answering phones whenever I've been at the office.

Less than one week later, one of the fillings has begun to flake apart. I do not trust either of the dentists in this office. Dr. Cheng clearly did a terrible job on the fillings and Dr. Field did not say anything when I asked if everything was OK when I returned. I now have to find a new dentist to evaluate all the work that they have done, and see if the fillings need to be repaired or redone entirely. It is unlikely that my insurance will cover redoing the fillings, unless I go to the initial dentist who did the work. I would rather have to pay out of pocket for all new fillings, if this is the case, then return to have these dentists do any more work on my teeth.

Dr. Field is a terrific dentist. I have been a patient in his practice since I moved to Santa Monica years ago. His office is state-of-the-art with digital technology and it's about as painless an experience as possible.

These 2 are married and I thought that was cute so I made my very first dentist appointment with them. one of the receptionists seemed to be really angry at a sweet old man who had forgotten to bring some sort of paperwork and he was a little confused and getting very flustered but he was also about 90 and trying his best to make sense of what she was saying so I think she could have found a way to be more respectful. After about 10 minutes in the office and a few x rays later I dared to ask the wife where she thought all of these cavaties were coming from when I have NEVER had a cavity in my life ( I was interested in taking a proactive approach, wanted to know what she thought I might be doing wrong so I could put an end to it immediately!) and she SHOUTED " I don't know why you people don't take care of your teeth!!!" and stomped away. Then she told her receptionist to "get her a copy of her xrays and get her out of here!" and slammed her office door. I was really confused and the receptionist just shook her head and said "don't worry about it...she's just like that." and handed me a copy of my x rays.
