I used EcuAmerican to move from Austin, TX to Baltimore, MD during the summer. They APPEARED professional when they came to pick up my things and the estimate was reasonable. I called the week before to confirm my delivery date, however, I could not reach anyone at the company. I had family call from different phone numbers and the phone was picked up immediately. But once they knew the numbers, they screened all the calls! I eventually was referred to their "contractors" who informed me that my things were in Atlanta, Georgia. My things were delivered 3 months after the supposed promised delivery date. When they arrived, one of the men unloading appeared to be heavily intoxicated and on drugs and dropped many of my boxes. Then, I was asked to pay ADDITIONAL charges or they would not unload the rest of my things. I filed a report with the Federal Government Transportation Authority, and tried to warn others NOT TO USE this company! Please, do not hire these people! They are thieves and liars and damaged most of my stuff. Save yourself the trouble!

My husband and I recently contracted with ECUAmerican moving company to move our household goods estimated at 3400 lbs from Austin, TX to Raleigh, NC for $1495. First on the day of the pick up 7/27/07 we were asked to pay $749 of the agreed amount in cash, when on the website they say they accept all forms of payment. When we asked them the purpose they blantly stated "to pay our movers". We did not pay in cash. Secondly on 7/30/07 we were contacted again by the moving company saying that we exceeded our weight by 2300 lbs. We know this to be untrue because my husband and I just got out of the service and our last move was on 3/15/07 and the total weight was 3200 lbs. We have added nothing but perhaps a few articles of clothing since that time. We have spoken with the owner, and he refused to even consider that they might be in error when we have an identical inventory list only 4 months prior with the catscale weight. We suggested a re-weigh and the owner insist that it will be at our own expense to include truck rental and labor. Not to mention that the movers said nothing to us at pick up that our stuff might exceed the weight. They also brought a mid sized moving truck that when completely loaded was not full. Currently they are holding our assets in TX until we agree to pay $900 above the amount agreed, while we are in NC (willing to pay our agreed amount) with none of our household goods, and I am currently 8 months pregnant.
