MOVE THE TRUCK! Is there really any reason for a garbage truck to stop right in the middle of the road? What a jerk. Glad to see that everybody who reviews them hates them. I'd think that part of the deal for a truck driver would be to not go out of his way to piss off customers or potential customers. Just a thought.

Wow, I read these negative reviews and I was leary. However, I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and obtain info to possibly use them. I had no problem getting through, the woman (I think) who answered had the worst smoker's voice ever and was very crass. I explained the town I was in but because I bordered another my address is different. She asked me if I was located at such and such (in a different town and county) I said no and reiterated where I lived. When I closed the call, I thanked her and all I heard on the receiving end was a very loud "click". AND, they were more expensive.

I find all this negative posting of Lilac Disposal interesting. I would certainly think that they should certainly be able to provide their customers some of the best service in the county seeing that they are descendants of Gutzmer Disposal. I am sure that they didn't learn these business tactics for the late Mr. Gutzmer who always tried to bend over backwards to make sure that the customer was always taken care of. Just makes ya wonder, doesn't it ?

I have to say that I am completely baffled by all the negative editorials. We have used lilac for a long time and have had virtually no trouble at all. I was especially please when they took some pretty huge loads that I dug out of my parents basement with out a peep. I've been pleasantly surprised by their service way more often than disappointed. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend that someone try them. You can always cancel.

Absolutely Horrible, I would never recommend them to anyone. They are suppose to pick up my garbage at my garage door, which I pay extra for. Surprise, surprise, they forget to pick it up. And when I call and tell them, they still don't pick it up! I am glad I no longer require there services

Garbage disposal has been consistent however recycling pick up is spotty at best. Two weeks ago the recycle truck drove right by me as I was taking my son to daycare (toter and recycling were out the night before). My neighbors were picked up but not us. Today, they did the same thing. Not worth the few dollars a month that I save by using them and not worth "supporting a local business".

I have had it up to here with Lilac Disposal they have just lost themselves another customer I'm afraid. My trash was picked up on Weds last week but the recycling bin just sat there for threee days untouched. This seems to be a habit of theirs. We put a Hot water heater out last summer and it was out there for three weeks before they came and picked it up . They had excuse after excuse and quite honestly none of them were what I would say to be excuses.It's not that I'm late with my payments they always get their money on time. So what's the deal here? Now I'm wondering if they are out of business and haven't the decency of letting their customers know.

It is Friday, January 9, 2009 and my garbage has been sitting outside since Monday evening for Tuesday pick-up. We did not bring the toter back to the garage in case they came by to pick it up another day. I have tried calling Lilac all day and either got a busy signal or a phone line that rings & rings with no answer or machine. Are they still in business? On vacation? What is going on?
This happened another time and when I spoke with someone at Lilac, she stated that it didn't matter that they missed the pick-up since it is based on weight anyway. She stated they would make it up the next week. How? They aren't taking any money off of my bill.
I am discouraged and disappointed. I picked Lilac after Upstate Disposal continually left scattered garbage all over the ground and left the empty garbage cans on their side in the road. Maybe it's time to call another company.

once again here i sit on friday afternoon looking at garbage in my front yard that was not picked up by lilac once again. the week of christmas they just drove right by, got the neighbors trash and left mine. when i called the same old story " it wasnt out " was given to me. funny how that is, because i sat here in my window and watched him drive up, grab the neighbors and forget mine. then the week of new years they took my toter and left the rest to get buried in the snow. i went out last night to clear snow from the storm, dug out oll the wood they left the week before. sat in window again this morning and watched him pull up, grab my toter, and once again drove off leaving the rest. not once have i seen a truck that says lilac on it pick up my trash. maybe thats why their service sucks? they sub-contract most of it? either way, ive been trying once again to call and complain, the phone was busy for about 20 mins, then it rang off the hook with no answer. i think they realize their service is sub-standard at best and just avaoi the phone calls in order to shy away from the complaints. either way this will be the last week lilac disposal doesnt pick uo my trash.

2008 has been a year of steady improvement. Our route in NW Penfield is handled well - recyclables picked up separately and containers even slid towards the garage to save steps. The leaf bag loads were always accepted - even when the cubic contribution was more than planned. We never had a problem in reaching a person when some matter was in need of discussion. JWK

I went with Lilac when we moved here from NM because I wanted to support a locally owned business. I was willing to put up with slightly haphazard service, but when I called to complain about their unfairness in picking up some people's extra trash and not picking up mine I hit a brick wall. I never got an answer that was worth any thing, so after two days of trying, I gave up and quit the service. All I wanted was equal service for equal pay, and a fairly competent answer to a simple question. I was told that my refund would take 3 months. On the 84th day after I quit their service, Lilac picked up their tote and I was told that my 3 months (which has now increased to 4 months) wait time starts when they pick up the tote. I plan to file a small claims suit. Probably won't do anything, but it will make me feel better to sue them.

When /i called to see why my garbage was not picked up on Thursday, I was told the driver said it was not out. BS I had cleaned the garage out on the previous Saturday and there was a pile of stuff plus the tote. The snotty woman on the phone said the driver had no reason to lie and it was a moot point because they would not be out to get it until Monday!! She claimed they have 6 trucks. She then said "oh come on it is 7:45 am " like it was too early to bother her with my complaint. I have nowhere to put new garbage(except the floor of my cleaned out garage.) When I said I would probably stop service if I had to wait until Monday she said they would definitely not come to get the garbage at all. Is she for real?? She is going to kill the poor woman's business. I doubt the owner Karen ever got my message so I left another one and still no call back.
I am calling the health dept on Monday. I really thought the idea of supporting a women's business was a great idea but it was not in this case. My neighbors will most certainly not get Lilac after looking at my wet garbage all this weekend.

Maybe it's just me, but I have been using Lilac Disposal since March of 2000. I am always treated fairly, I think the price is reasonable and I like dealing with a local company and I don't care if it's run by men or women.
I don't understand many of the complaints. Maybe I am too busy to worry about what time my trash is picked up. When I joined they told me it should be out at 6 am or the night before. If I put it out it usually gets picked up (hey everybody has a bad day once in a while, even jockys-do you really think your money is on the horse?). I don't mind paying for extras, it takes more time and is more work, so why not? I live in a nice neighborhood and I don't like it when trash is left out at the road a day or 2, but I have bigger problems than that to worry about. I have forgotten to put it out a few times, when I call they kid with me and thank me for telling the truth and then they tell me when they will be there to get it. They pick it up. I have a problem getting thru sometimes but it beats listening to bad music, or pushing buttons and besides they call be back or better yet they just take care of the problem. Frankly, I am shocked to see what the fuss is all about, get over yourself it is just garbage and and far as the price vs service is concerned, I find that the people who hate spending money on a job they wouldn't think about doing themselves will spend $5.00 on a cup of coffee from a big chain, and be insulted by the snooty help when they can make their own coffee for pennies. Life is too short to really take seriously

I have used Lilac twice now (company I changed to when I was fed up with Lilac was then purchased by Lilac). They are nearly impossible to get on the phone, office people do not stand by what others in their office say, recycle goes into the trash truck half the time ... what is the point??, don't expect a refund for the weeks THEY neglect to pick up trash that was out the night before.

Lilac has got to be the worst. Presently they have been repeatedly billing my debit card for a rolloff container. I cant get them on the phone and there message recorder is always full. I finally spoke to them today and explained that they owe me 2 credits, they seemed to understand on the phone but in checking my bank online they have still not given me my due credit. Totally incompentent

Compared to Waste Mangement, Urban Disposal, and the others it falls far behind in service quality and consistancy. My neighbors have Lilac and it's not a normal garbage day for me if I don't go and pick their totes from the street after Lilac carelessly throws them when they dispose of garbage. Lilac comes at all different times and they don't show pride in their work. They just do it hodge-podge to get it done and collect $$$. That's how I feel.
Use any other disposal service, you'll have peace of mind.

Lilac Disposal Inc is our refuse collector. They are very consistent to come on a weekly basis around the same time. They have basic guidelines and follow these but have some flexibility fro occasional variability with our garbage(will take larger items at no cost).

We have been using Lilac for almost 3 years and I don't think they have come at the same time once. If I put the tote out at 10 am they wer there at 9. If I put the tote out the night before they don't come until 4 the next day. One time the dumped a pile of screws at the end of my driveway and didn't pick them up. One time they spilled a gallon of paint in the road and left it for me to track into my driveway.

Lilac Disposal Company is owned and operated by women. Their totes are lilac color. You do have to pay extra if you have more than your usual amount of garbage.
