My husband and I took a day trip to Westport, We asked around wanting to get reccommendations on a great place to eat....We were told by several people to eat at Bennett's! It was a Sunday afternoon and we both had the best primerib that we have ever eaten! We are now ruined for life because no one compares to Bennett's. You can only get primerib on the weekends so the next year we stayed at a local B&B and ate thursday and friday night, so we could try other things on the menu.....Great salmon and flat iron steck. We can not go to westport without going to Bennett's. Great staff and friendly service makes it a joy also!

My husband and I visited Grayland April 2, 2011 and had researched where to eat beforehand. THANKS TO EVERYONE who gave a good review of Bennett's because they were right on target!!!!!
The waitstaff: extremely pleasant. Beer selection: MUCH better than expected (great selection of local microbrews and premium beer as well) Food: EXQUISITE..perfectly cooked fish, incredible sauces, interesting mix of local flavors. Prices: VERY REASONABLE for the entrees; average for the beer, appetizers and dessert. You know how you get a mental image of a place in your mind when reading reviews..well I just couldn't get that classy intimate image in my mind that all the reviews were talking about because of the picture posted of the outside. I thought it would have kind of a mom and pop inside
decor with a beachy flair but BOY was I WRONG...Class all the way!!!!! A VERY unexpected bistro type decor with great mood lighting which gave an upscale city ambiance without the price!!!

We've been going to the Grayland/Tokeland area every summer for years, and we always stop at Bennett's. The first time I was startled as the chef actually came out and asked us how we were enjoying the meal. The wait staff is very friendly and the lunch special is the best! Half a toasted crab sandwich, a wonderful salad and one of the best chowders around. We came after 9pm one night and were so surprised to find the place PACKED! We had the appetizer of steamed clams/mussels and it was WONDERFUL! We will continue to make this a yearly tradition.

Bennett's is what a classy restaurant should be!! The food is amazing and the staff knows how to go above and beyond to exceed great customer service. Something that most restaurants lack these days! They take pride in educating you on their products and specials. Definately the place I will return to when visiting Westport again!! I would like to see another Bennett's open in the Tacoma area and show the places around here some real customer service. :)

I have eaten at Bennetts a handful of times since I have lived in this area. The service is always exceedingly friendly even when it is busy. Without question this is the best food in the area in my opinion. Atmosphere is top notch. Based on the quality of the total experience including food, atmosphere and service, hands down best value in the Grayland / Westport area in my opinion. Easiest 5 stars I have ever given a business. There is no competition.

Our family eats here at least once a week. We love the friendly service and of course the delicious food. Their fish and chips are to die for and the cranberry coast salad is just amazing! Everytime we go there I tell my husband that I'm going to get something different, but that darn salad just starts calling my name. If your ever in town, stop by for this one. You will not be disappointed.

We asked several people during the day when we were in Tokeland about where to have dinner. Bennett's was on everyone's tongue. Our server was very attentive without being intrusive. We enjoyed talking with the owner about the music influence in his decor and really loved looking around the place. And the food! Extraordinary! We had crab cakes that were the best ever, the house favorite flat iron steak and seafood pasta. All the seafood was fresh and flavorful. I had a Hoodsport wine that was carefully chosen after asking me what I liked. Everything was perfect!!!

We live in Federal Way, yet will drive 3 hours to go to Bennett's for special occasions. The food is always magical. They use fresh and best vegetables, seafood, all ingredients available fresh and in season. The chef is friendly, the wait staff is knowledgeable and very attentive even when they're busy. Our anniversary is in November and we try to get away for the weekend in Westport, watch some storms on the beach, and our big event is to go to Bennett's for dinner (at least once). The owner suggested we ride our bikes around the cranberry bogs; which was amazingly beautiful. It's now one of our fav bike rides, as well as riding along the jetty parallel to the beach. We often choose Westport as our vacay destination as Bennett's is such a drawing card for us.

What a fantastic find! Bennett's was suggested as a spot to really enjoy your meal and it was that and much more. What a great dinner we had. In fact, dinner was so good, we were back to enjoy a lunch there too. The food was oustanding. In fact, the food was as good as any restaurant I've been to in the Seattle area.
Not only is the food great, but the atmosphere is friendly and comfortable. We met Greg and Chef Ron and Chef Don. They were friendly and interested in making our dining experience the best it could be. How about that?
Next trip to the beach, you can believe Bennett's will be on my list for dining out. It may be on the edge of the world, but it is also out of this world.
One word of advice - don't miss the crab cakes. Outstanding!

I was sure that our experience was unusual, but all I had to do was scan down the other reviews and I can see that this is just the way they do business.
I went with my sister and a friend. We each ordered a dish and we put them in the middle of the table and shared. They were very good about letting us do that. I highly suggest it as a way to taste more of their fantastic food!
We were lucky enough to have the table right beside the reception desk and by the time we left we felt like we were part of the family. At least 3 different people stopped and chatted as if they didn't have anything else to do. When we had a question about the area and when they didn't know, they even went around and asked all the other tables to see if they knew.
If you're ever in the area make sure you stop and experience the fantastic food and people at Bennett's! We're delighted to hear that they're opening up new locations!! 5 stars isn't enough...

Fantastic service and food! My husband and I went to Bennett's when we were visiting Westport and it was possibly the best meal I've ever had. I had the oysters and my husband had the crab cakes and everything was fresh, local and delicious. For dessert we had a cake with local berries piled high with ice cream and real whipped cream. I can't say enough good things about this place. It is worth visiting!

Let me start out by saying that I am gluten free, so that you understand why this was such a great night for me!! Usually when I have to ask so many questions from the staff about the contents of a dish they eather do not know or are bothered by the question, That said, We arrive and were greeted with a very helpful host. Since he seemed so helpful, I thought I'd ask him some questions as to not annoy the waitress. Well to my delight he new exactly what was in everything!! I literally got choked up because he informed me the clam chowder was GLUTEN FREE! I have not had it in years. In addition all the sauces were as well. As were one of the desserts!! I can't tell you how excited I was. I have never eaten such delicious gluten free food out. EVER!! The chowder was authentic and the chicken I order was perfectly seasoned and sauced. Making food without gluten is an art and Chef Ron is highly skilled. To top off the night the Host gave me a wine tasting to find the perfect wine to pair with my dish. Then Chef Ron came out to talk to us!! He said he often makes special dishes on request and keeps items on hand for that very purpose!! Unheard of in this era of prepackaged and canned food that are often pawnrd off as their own inspired creations. Thank you so much. Oh yeah, my DH's gluten filled meal was very good too. Just not as good as mine!!

Family owned and operated, and we were immediately treated like family. We arrived about 5:20 p.m. on a razor-clamming Friday. When we arrived we were seated, with only one couple in a booth on our side of the restaurant. By the time we left, every space was filled and people were waiting to be seated. Obviously, a very popular place. The food was excellent, and excellently prepared. Despite the crowd, we were attended to for every request quickly and pleasantly. We have found a new favorite restaurant.
Thank you, Chef Ron.

We travel to the Grayland/Westport area often and I??m sorry to say Bennett's was unknown to us until our last trip. I have my favorites in the area (Inn of the West Wind for breakfast) but Bennett??s clearly shines as the best dinner experience I??ve had while visiting. I'll even take it one step further, Bennett's was superior to the much lauded and anticipated Crush restaurant we dined at in Seattle the prior weekend. Bennett's cuisine and service would compete in any large city and it's a real gem in an area where restaurants sometimes struggle to survive. Chef Ron, I know his name as he took the trouble to leave the kitchen and inquire if we were enjoying our meal, clearly takes great pride in this establishment and it carries right through to the servers and hostess at the front door. We will be visiting again in the near future. Thanks Chef Ron for a wonderful Saturday evening at Bennett's.

My wife and I are on a month long leisure trip down the west coast, (we live on Vancouver Island) and the first overnight stop we made was Westport WA. After booking into the Chateau Westport, our standard tactic is to find a local to supply a dinner spot recommendation and a quick take on the local dining spots. The hotel staff (we asked two different people) all recommended Bennett's in Grayland WA, about 8 klicks down the road.
It is so refreshing to dine in an establishment that is run by people who care about what they are doing. Bennett's offers a range from sandwiches and burgers to seafood and steaks, priced like an "olive garden" but delivered to compete with fine dining. Table service from people who believe in what they are doing, and provide the best that the local market can provide. Case in point were the Washington state wines from Olympia Cellars featured, and Ron, the chef took a few minutes to offer a sample and quick rundown on why this variety merited a taste. Get off of the I5 and over to the 105 and enjoy the benefits of local service.

This is a wow service establishment that is huge value for money.

I visited greyland this past weekend. What could be better than experiencing the raw power ot the ocean for an Aquarian celebrating their birthday? A trip to Bennett's restaurant would fit the bill. I waited 56 years to savor the finest clam chowder ever. The seafood fettuccini was spectacular beyond description. Along with the comfortable ambiance and friendly, knowledgable people, I'll be back next year....it I can wait that long!

My husband and I were visiting from Cary North Carolina and through local recommendations in the Westport area we went to Bennett's. We had the best meal which consisted of homemade chicken fried steak, mash potoatoes and vegetables. It was the best chicken fried steak we ever ate. To top off our meal we had homemade Marionberry Pie. It was so good that we ordered 2 slices for pick up for the next day. Everyone is very friendly. Chef Ron stopped by our table. We can't wait to go back. This meal is worth the 2 plus hour drive from Seattle.

I recently visited Westport/Grayland for a charter fishing trip with my family. I wasn't expecting much in terms of dining experiences -- basic eats would have done the trick. But then we discovered Bennett's, and ate there 3 times during our 2 night visit (2 dinners + 1 same-night after-dinner return trip just for dessert).

Everything on their regular menu and their daily specials sheet will exceed your expectations, as will their prompt, professional, and friendly service. I don't claim to have the most sophisticated palate, but I'm a Seattlite and a big fan of Le Gourmand, Volterra, Canlis, Serafina, and Enotria --and I look forward to my next meal at Bennett's with the same level of enthusiasm that I have for these long-time favorites. You won't be disappointed here.

You don't find em like this anymore. They just don't exist. Walk into the 60's-70's style roadhouse and wait a few minutes for the experience to begin. The host actually discusses the menu with you and suggests some specials...listen carefully. The specials rule the roost. The menu may look pedestrian but don't take anything at face value. This kitchen puts out some stuff NYC would love to dupicate.
I have eaten all around the globe and find this little roadside attraction to be amazing at least. The chef has a playful touch with whatever is on the menu. I had a very pedestrian Porterhouse turned into an artwork. A wonderful sauce that gave a nod to the local area fame, cranberries. Potato mash with garlic that sent shivers up my spine. Vegetables prepared better than I could have done myself, and that is no faint praise.

To look at this place from the road you might just drive by. STOP! Backup, you done missed it all.

Come by in early October and you can also enjoy the local cranberry festival, what a hoot!

On a solo fishing trip to Westport in late July '09, I once again had the pleasure of dining at Bennett's. Well, actually, the last time I was there, it was the Sea Star - name and management shifted about 4 - 5 years ago.

I'd read many mostly glowing reviews here on Insiderpages prior to my trip, and a couple of reviews that were pretty negative. It was time to investigate on my own.

Not sure what problem the critics had. Certainly agree with the positive reviews.

A couple of comments, from my own experience. This place has been in business 34 years or so and, obviously, you don't last that long in the restaurant trade without doing most things right.

The food is fine. The service is fine. It is, indeed, undoubtedly one of the better dining spots in a small community in Washington State. I rank Bennett's right up there with Patit Creek in Dayton and Whoop'em Up Hollow Cafe in Waitsburg, both on this side of the Cascades. Whoop'em Up, BTW, has been reviewed in Sunset - you get the idea.

I was there on a Thursday night. The place was packed. Local cops were eating there. Tourists were eating there and locals were enjoying themselves, too. All good signs.

The seafood fettucine was really quite nice. The beer cold. The clam chowder very, very good, but not - in my view and as some assert here - the Best in the West. Or Washington, for that matter. My vote is for Jack's Fish Spot in the Pike Place Market for New England-style clam chowder.

Is this the best restaurant in the Westport/ Grayland/ Aberdeen/ Hoqium area? Yup. One of the best in western Washington? Very probably. One of the 100 best in Washington State? Absolutely. Will you like Bennett's. Yes.

Go see for yourself. Ignore the negative reviews. Maybe those folks were having a "bad hair day." I'm pretty sure that Bennett's wasn't!

Bennett's is by far one of the most superior dining experiences ever! The food is absolutely wonderfull and the entire staff is a completely well oiled functioning machine. My father took me there when I was down working on his beach place in Grayland and since I have made it a point to take my friends and family. I gaurantee nobody will be disappointed in they're visit. Chef Ron has an outstanding menu and the hot apple/cranberry cider is amazing! This place should be on Evening Magazines Washington's Top 100 easily!! You would never know whats inside by the basic, quaint, rustic appearance on the outside. Its warm, cozy, and very comfortable with roomy seating. you are welcomed, catered to, and thanked so sincerley. Everyone does everything. They all bus tables, serve, check up on you..including Chef Ron. He makes it a point to visit every table and loves the feedback and the local chat. Please help me in getting these people in the top 100 restaurants in Washington State!! My friends and family all say they would drive 25 miles out of the way to have the experience again and again!! I promise that nobody will be disappointed!!

We found Bennett's by accident when visiting Westport. The food and service were so great we returned a second time during the same vacation! On special was the steak Oscar and it was beautifully prepared and served. My hamburger was full of wonderful, taste bud bursting flavors, blue cheese, jack cheese, and mushrooms being a few. The clam chowder was incredible.

Our family of four plus grandma had the incredible pleasure of dining at Bennett's this last weekend. We were so impressed with our experience we all agreed that it was the best restaurant that any of us had ever been to. We all ordered something different and sampled each others' dishes. Everything we ordered was simply the best in every way imaginable. I can't imagine finding better service or food anywhere, period. Customer service is clearly a top priority for the entire staff, from the waitress that was ever-so-friendly to the chef, Ron, who came to our table a second time because the first time I was away. They were very busy when we were there, but we were not neglected. I could go on and on but I will simply say this "take the time, drive the distance, whatever it takes, you must experience Bennett's Restaurant!"

Thank You and we will return, The Wilkes Family

My wife and I had both a lunch and dinner and was delighted with the food and outstanding service. The Seafood Fettuccine, salads and Fish and Chips were terrific. Greg the owner/maitre d' greeted us in a very professional manner and was incredible. He was a major part of our enjoyment. During dinner the head chef came out to our table to see if everything was OK. Our waitress was fantastic. All orders were served HOT and with a beautiful presentation. We would recommend Bennett's to anyone looking for a fabulous dinner with outstanding service. ++++

This place is a MUST!!! We were a party of 8 and went into Bennett's to eat after a long day of fishing. We were greeted like family and had the meal of a lifetime. The service was top notch. The chef, Ron came out and stopped by every table. Even if you are in the Seattle area, you have to drive the 2 hours. IT'S WORTH THE DRIVE!!!!

My husband and I ate there on a bustling Friday night. The service was very personable but laid back. I would encourage you to take a deep slow breath and get ready for the meal of a lifetime. We both had the clam chowder - the best we've ever eaten. I enjoyed the local hot cider and cranberry beverage but both our entrees were fabulous. My husband got the fried oysters with homemade coctail sauce just the right amount of fresh horseradish. But I save the best for last my seafood fettucini was unbelievable. Huge pawns, scallops, shrimp not one bite that wasn't full of fresh tender seafood. I only could finish a third of the gigantic portion. Cannot say enough good things. The chef came to our table and treated us like royalty. We also had the berry dessert - enough for an army but worth every bite. I wanted to cry that we couldn't finish it.

We work hand in hand with Bennett's because they provide an excellent meal for a reasonable price to our joint customers here in Grayland. Their clam chowder is our personal favorite here at Beachy Day. Rich, thick and buttery...full of clams. Unlike others you can taste the clams! The service is friendly, the servers are knowledgeable and make you feel at home. The Best of the Best is also a favorite. TRY THAT!

I rate all clam chowders from restaurants, to Mo's on the Oregon Coast. Bennett's version was delicious, creamy, made with real potatoes and lots of clams. I loved it and rate it better than Mo's! We returned the second night to have some more. Wonderful menu, professional and warm staff. I would highly recommend dinning at Bennett's.

I saw the reviews here and we went there to try it out 2 weeks ago. The seafood fettuccine literally sent shivers of delight down my back! Unbelievable food AND service! Not cheap, but in terms of value for the experience, and the sheer, unadulterated JOY of dining in a place that obviously puts tremendous pride into the preparation, presentation and service of their dining experience, Bennett's is a tremendous bargain!

We ate there twice in 2 yrs and I can only say...if you took this whole package and placed it in Seattle or Portland, it puts ALL the other guys to shame, no matter how big or well known.

Great value for the money, personal attention matched by no others, incredible food, warm and cozy atmosphere.

A great way to cap off a day trip to the coast or just drive out for dinner.

We eat at Bennett's on an average of 1-2 times a week for dinner. The staff is very engaged with the customers and always has a cheery greeting for us. The chef "manages by walking around" and asking customers how their food is. Top grade food, great selections, great wine selections at very reasonable prices.

Bennett's is worth driving a long distance to - it's a destination restaurant!!

We were staying at the Tokeland Hotel down the road and were looking for a little more variety in our dinner options. The local policeman recommended Bennett's and we were not disappointed. Initially greeted by a friendly host, guided through dinner by our helpful waitress and assisted along the way by the courteous and knowledgeable chef, Ron. Friendly atmosphere for a gathering of friends or an intimate dining experience. The menu offers standards as well as creative specials, using local ingredients and preparing sauces and dressings in-house. The wines are delicious, from a winery in Port Angeles made by three women. Our only wish is that they sold their wines to-go. We had a lovely time and plan on a return trip.

I was with a group of friends visiting in late September. We had been told that Bennett's was a good place to eat. Wow, what a great place: the service was excellent, waitress polite but friendly and attentive and the chef came out personally to talk with us and give advice on the specialties. I had the Cranberry Coast Chicken cashew salad in a combination type plate the first night. Most of our group had similar selections. We were so impressed with the meal, it's presentation, the friendly atmosphere and personal attention that we went back for our second night. I had the "Cran Coast salad" again - it was so delicious. I'd highly recommend this business to anyone.

Recently went to Washington Coast and was told Bennett's was a good place to eat. It was a VERY GOOD place to eat in that area and would be good in Seattle or Portland as well. The quality of the food was very high, with use of local fresh products to bring out the very best in each meat; only there two nights and went back both times. Be adventuresome and try the specials and the cranberry salad is a taste carnival.

Bennett's has great food and service in a casual relaxed atmosphere. Especially enjoyed the Cranberry Coast Chicken Cashew Salad, it's a filling meal with a wonderful blend of tastes that linger. Chef Ron is very personable and visits the tables to discuss his dishes, his enjoyment of cooking is obvious in the meals he prepares. Bennett's is probably the best restaurant in the local Grayland/Wesport area. I highly recommend them.

Chef Ron greeted us at the door, excellent wait staff, knowledgeable and friendly, what a treat after a long day exploring the area. Portions were generous, great presentation and the taste delicious. Clam chowder was hot, creamy and just like mom used to make. Salad crisp with homemade dressing. Dinner was beef medallions, tender, cooked to perfection and covered with the most amazing blue cheese sauce, not too heavy but just right. The Chicken Parmesan was made with homemade marinara sauce (and I thought min was good!) and literally smothered with cheese. The broccoli was bright green and tender-crisp to perfection. All this accompanied by the Olympic Cellars Winery wine. Yummmmm
Reasonably priced, great, down home atmosphere, I'd take everyone from picky to haute cuisine here

My husband and I planned an anniversary weekend to the coast this past weekend with our horses and our new puppy. We stayed at the Ocean Acres B&B in Grayland and dined nightly at Bennett's in downtown Grayland. The food quality, range of food choices, and bang for your buck was comparable to the restaurants we frequent here in Seattle. This family own and run establishment scored high points for me in service (never leaving me wanting for anything more than a few minutes) and food knowledge. My husband and I feasted on Halibut and Prime rib the first night (which we happily ate as left-overs the next day for lunch), and the second night, a Shrimp Louis and Beef Tenderloin Medallions topped with a blue cheese Roquefort sauce that was too die for. My mouth is watering just writing this review. Our meal concluded with a colossal sized mixed berry covered white cake, topped with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. It was a perfect culinary anniversary weekend! Bennett's will be a definite future destination whenever my husband and I are in the area again. I would recommend it to everyone that is tired of the same old clam chowder in the Westport/Grayland area. Thanks Chef Ron for your warm and inviting hospitality!

Every summer, my family and I camp at Grayland State Park. We look forward to our trip to Bennett's as much as camping! This year we brought all sorts of yummy stuff to barbeque, but instead threw it all in the freezer in the trailer and ate at Bennett's both nights. It's just too good to miss! There is something very comforting about Greg greeting us at the door summer after summer and acting as if we are old friends coming to his home. What a gracious and warm person he is. The food at Bennett's is remarkably good and very reasonably priced. I had the cranberry coast chicken cashew salad two nights in a row because you just can't get anything this good at home in Port Orchard! My husband had the fettucini alfredo and my son had the spaghetti - both excellent and very large portions. This truly is a wonderful place and it's so much more than just the food! One disappointing thing was that we didn't get to see Chef Ron this time - he usually is in the dining room greeting patrons and excitedly telling folks about the specials of the day. We missed seeing him. See you next summer!
