Joyland Preschool is by far the best school I could have chosen for my son. He is in the afternoon class in the LAUP program. The teachers are AMAZING!!!! they communicate with you on a day to day babsis. He loves to go to school everyday.

I have reviewed many preschool's in the area and found that this one had all the accommodations I was looking for. Including opening early and closing late. As a professor I need this flexibility. I feel this is a good school simply

I attended this school when I was little and I thought it would be a great idea to send my two kids for summer school. Everything seemed great in the beginning but the last two days seem to turn sour. My 4-year-old daughter complained she was being isolated. My daughter was ordered to stay in the classroom by herself while the other kids played. The teacher told my daughter it was because her dad brought her in late when in fact he brought her in the same time each day. We confront this issue to the director who brought all the employees in the room. My daughter pointed the individual out and told the story herself. The director completely disregarded everything we said, defending her employees. Furthermore, she accused us of mental child abuse and that we would be reported to social services!! This angered us so much that we called the police. When we told her we were going to call the police she went ahead and did the same thing. Apparently she told the police we had a weapon so we were searched. Sure enough, no weapon. No action was taken and the officer advised us to also make a report to social services. I absolutely cannot believe the lies these people were making! Honestly, they seemed so nice and it seemed like such a great facility but we were fooled! I thought I did my homework and read all the reviews online but I don't think parents understand the extent of this issue. They will fool you and pretend they are so nice. The individual mistreating my daughters seemed extremely nice and I just couldn't believe my ears. My daughters are well-behave, shy, and respectful kids so this came to a surprise. Please do not take your child here. I had to learn the hard way. I have always been protective of my kids and regret taking my kids here. If you want to be accused of mental child abuse and have the cops called then this is the place to go.

Love the school. My daughter was in their 3 and 4 year old program and she is skipped kindergarten when we put her in the public school. I would recommend this school to any parent.

This school was seriously detrimental to my child's health. I was very impressed by Sheila and her "business" when I first took a tour of Joyland. I met the teachers, and although I didn't get the greatest of vibes from them, I figured it would be ok. I enrolled my 2 1/2 year old daughter and she was very excited to start. When I dropped her off, she was happy, wanted to stay, and said to me "Bye mommy! Go go go!" Her tune changed VERY QUICKLY. All it took was one day. After that first day it was a constant struggle. Screaming, tears, fights. I tried for two months as I was assured she was "just getting used to the new school." Well I arrived one day to check on my daughter and peered into her classroom window to see how she was doing. She was in a corner, crying, ignored, rolled up in a little ball. Not ONE ??teacher? there to even attempt to comfort her. I watched for 10 minutes waiting for a teacher to respond. Finally, I opened the door, grabbed my child, and that was the end of it. Two months of her watching cartoons throughout the day (because all they do is stick your kid in front of the TV), three severe illnesses due to the sick kids they allow to remain in class, and two months of severe depression for my once very happy child made me write this review. This is not a place where children thrive. The ??teachers? are not qualified to care for your child. Most of the teachers are lazy and are in no way capable of keeping up with the energy of one child, or 18 of them. Spare yourself the agony of seeing your child suffer needlessly. Joyland is not a joyous place for your child.

My daughter has been going to the school since she was a toddler. Now she is in kindergarten. She would get sick like any normal child when the weather changes. Never from the school. I see they are often cleaning the toys and classroom. The school itself is very clean. I would recommend future parents walk through the classroom and see for themselves how clean the school really is and make their own decision. The reviews on this site are not always accurate.

I was impressed when I took a tour of the daycare, the staff was friendly (especially Mona and Cindy) and the classrooms looked clean. I enrolled my my child in Joyland Pres. last August, 2009 and I kid you not, he has be absent last least 1-2 weeks out of every month that he's been there due to an illness he caught at daycare. I don't know if the staff leave the diapers on my child too long or what, but in the 5 1/2 months my child attended Joyland Pres. my child has had puss filled blisters on the private area, two cases of cellulitus which my child had to be hospitalized for 3 days for one of the infections, also my child had the hands, mouth, and feet virus and a stream of colds all in five months. Although the daycare workers are sweet people I question how sanitized the daycare really is. This might seem a petty, but I have found many grammar errors in the monthly newsletter. I just feel that if I am paying $160 weekly and I still have to pay for the week if my child is not attending the daycare because of beening hospitalized, then Joyland administration could at least spell check their newsletters and spell my childs name correctly on the sign in/out sheets and on the school activities.

I was about to register my child in this preschool, but recently changed my mind... My first impression was good, just by seeing the outside/playground. When i entered the office, they were really friendly and kind, but i must agree that Sheila, the director, is truly a business woman! I had so many questions, but it seemed as she was selling something and she was able to convince me in simply a few minutes. When i filled out the paper work, i felt pressured and rushed. Something in my heart did not feel good. A teacher stopped by the office as i was feeling out the enrollment packet and looked at me kind of rudely, i took that pretty personal since this is the staff that i was about to leave my child with. I was never offered a tour. Also, the registration fee sounds a bit fishy to me. First they mentioned it was $100 and since i didn't have the money, they said they would give me a coupon where i wouldn't have to pay the fee- mmm! I truly believe there in this for the money and maybe not fully for the interest of the children. :/

I do not agree with the other parents review. My experience was much better. As a parents, We were looking for a pre- school that would give our children all needed skills for a successful transition into kindergarten and the social skills necessary to deal with life itself. We found that in joyland preschool. What a wonderful place to be a child! The school is EXTREMELY CLEAN and BEAUTIFUL with a large play area. The rooms are spacious and kid-friendly. The curriculum meets the needs of the children at their level. Our daughters knows how to write their names, count, and read couple of simple sentense which is very impressive. The creative projects the kids create are amazing, and they arrange many special activities such as gymnastics, dancing, singing and fieldtrips. Kids participate in wonderful concerts for New Years, Mother's day and Father's day. Kids provided with daily healthy and nutritional meals. The warmth and understanding of the caring teachers and staff make this school a model for all others. Once you have visited the joyland you will realize that you don't have to look further. The best for your child is right here.

I have seen two reviews for Joy land preschool in this site. I suspect that both of them are superficial or written by the school itself. My understanding is, it is the expensive shool in that area. I have a thought that "if you put more money you will get more benefits". That is why I put my son there. The school is clean have good curriculam. But there is no physical activity. Children just read, watch TV and sleep. They share betsheets for sleeping. It is highly over crouded. So many children with running nose. Once in a month you child will get sick. This is the worst. The workers in the school, You never see irresponsible, unwelcoming, workers like joyland school. I think it is because, the school is run by an asian lady and she is not able to control or educate these workers. They dont even say Hi, goodmorning to you and your child. First few days they will be nice. But after a month you will see the difference (if your previouse school is good). An the total streanth, it tooooo high for that small place. I dont know how the authorities allow this school running. There is no emergency exits so far I have seen. If anything happend it is going to be a bad day in Norwalk city. The Director of the school, she is the best bussiness women. She will listen to you, but she never change anything really. I should not say this, but It is right from my heart that the director is money minded. Not even think about the safety of the children. Be care full before put your child there. Go to the school, dont set your mind by just seeing the clean ness of the school. Go arround and go in the peak time look for how many children there. Watch, are the workers palying with children or just sitting in the chair. Look for the size and number of children. If you anlyze completely You will not choose this school.

I do recommend this school. It is very clean and very nicely maintained.Sheila, the director, is very involved with what happens in the school. The teachers are wonderful and really pay attention to the kids! Naturally as parents we are very picky about where we send our son. He is 3 years old and he is doing a lot for his age. He is pre-reading, he "draws". I think he is well ahead of the curve for most kids his age. The school spends a lot of time making sure that fun is incorporated into their learning!

I have had two children attend the preschool program. When they began first grade in the pubic system my kids were reading, writing, and doing math a year ahead of the other students. The school is kept up daily, the classrooms are well stocked with education supplies, the director ensures there is discipline in the classroom, and I get a regular progress report that outlines my child's learning activities and their progress. Truly a school worth checking out.
