Very poor business practice.

I went to Dr. Litwin for the first time last month. They suggested that I get a full mouth x-ray since I was a new patient. I was hesitant because I had x-rays done recently, but they said it was covered by my insurance and I might as well get it done.

I made it clear to the hygienist that I would get the x-ray done if it was in fact 100% covered, otherwise I did not want it. I said this twice. They went to check and assured me it was covered, so I proceeded to get it done.

One month later I get a call from receptionist in the office to tell me that the x-ray was in fact not covered. The very x-ray I said I did not really want, and I definitely did not want if I had to pay for it.

The office manager was then put on the phone and he started to yell at me, and fight with me. He argued that it was not their fault because the insurance told them that they would cover it 100%, and when the insurance didn't t the debt should fall to me.

They argued with me, they belittled me, and raised their tone with me on the phone trying to convince me how this was now my responsibility despite what we agreed upon. Like putting a price on an item you purchase and calling you to charge you more a month later.

They wanted me to do the footwork to obtain the money from my insurance company or to pay them the difference out of pocket.

A good business would absorb the cost after telling you something was covered, a good business would not call you and fight with you after an agreed upon service.

A good business would not talk to you like you are and idiot and tell you "you know that small pamphlet you get from you insurance company, where it tells you what is covered, it is your responsibility to know what it is covered."

As a provider if you told me you called my insurance and they told you something was covered 100%, I'm going to trust you. Besides who knows every little detail of their insurance?

I told them that I would not pay them for the service and would fight it in small claims. Despite them constantly backing their end as being in the right, they told me they do not respond to threats and instantly withdrew the fee and banned me form ever coming back to the office. That does not sound like the actions of someone who is in the right.

A good business does not ban you from their office, after they are the ones who tried to screw you.

It disgusts me how this practice treated me as a new customer. They should have taken responsibility for their error instead of talking to me the way they did, trying to make me pay for their lost money, and proudly proclaiming I am no longer welcome there because of their error.

Terrible business ethic, and F grade service.

I do not recommend. Crooked Business.

Pros: excellent work- best smile ever

Cons: pricey, but very much worth it!

Having had a swing accident at 7, I have been dealing with dental problems my entire life. I have never had the positive experience I've had with Dr. Litwin. The staff are great, as well as patient and compassionate. When dealing with the extent of my dental problems, which were significant, she got the right professionals (periodontist, oral surgeon for gum work, etc.) together to do the work - similar to demeanor and style as her. Each step along the way, if I had questions, she would sit and consult with me, so I knew how much I was being committed for financially.Unlike the previous reviewer, I had crown work done at Dr. Litwin's office, but did not not have the negative experience that they had. The permanent crown fit well and I only used the temporary for a few weeks. I've already recommended this dental group to 5 friends and plan on recommending to others who have had problematic dental experiences.

I have been phobic and down right terrified at the mere suggestion of going to the dentist. After a rough start with a childhood dentist that rivaled Dr. Mengela, and then biting the bullet and going to dentists who, in the end, failed me, I have found THE Dentist and THE dental practice that will, assuming they all outlive me, take care of me for the rest of my life!

Now, I know, many of you may be happy with your dentist and his/her team, but if you don't like your current dentist, don't have a dentist or would like a 2nd opinion, consider visiting Dr. Laurie Litwin and her amazing colleagues and staff.

I am not just one of those people who needs a cleaning and a filing now and again...no, I am a seasoned veteran and they have stepped up to the plate every time. I've had an abscess, teeth pulled, implants, scaling and root planing, bone grafting, gum surgery, filings, crowns....okay, so my mouth is a mess...WAS a mess. I trust Dr. Litwin, Dr. Batalias, Rebecca my hygienist (you'll have the CLEANEST teeth in town....hands down) and Matt, the office manager, who is patient, proficient, diligent and top notch at overseeing my appointments, my insurance issues and my general care.

Check out Dr. Litwin and her team. Check out the services and call
and ask any questions. See if The Gramercy Dental Group is the right fit for you.

I began the daunting task of seeking a dentist this year, and was glad to receive a referral from a friend of mine. He had been a patient of Dr. Litwin's and highly recommended her. Her office in Gramercy Park is warm and inviting, and the same can be said of her staff. She recommended changing my silver fillings (which were fracturing my teeth) to beautiful white ones. Now, I can throw my head back and laugh readily without a thought to those awful, ugly, silver fillings. She listened to all of my concerns and offered up great information to better my dental health. Now, Dr. Litwin is not only MY dentist, but is also the dentist to my close group of friends. DR. LITWIN IS LIKE A PRECIOUS GEM, DISCOVERED!

Pros: nice staff and office

Cons: Expensive, a frustrating experience

9 months ago, I went to Dr. Litwin for a cracked crown. During the initial consultation, she informed me that I've been ruining my dental work over the year by grinding my teeth at night. She suggested various procedures including a night guard costing $4222 in total, and I figured I should "do it right" by following through. She offered a 10% off incentive if I paid in full, and I'm responsible for tracking down the reimbursement from my insurance. Anyway, I had to visit her office a dozen of times to work on the crown because the temporary crown kept cracking (at one point I was only eating steamed brussels spouts when one of the temporary crown cracked) and the permanent crown wasn't properly made. She blamed the Lab for the mistake. After several impressions and fittings over a few visits, the crown STILL doesn't fit well. There is a step between it and the surrounding molar. On top of it all, that area is now sensitive to cold and heat. That broke the camels back, and decided not to go back. Dr. Litwin and staff are nice people, and they did their best to treat me. However, the many visits to her office for one crown were the most frustrating dental experience in my life.
