I really don't know what I can say about this place that does it justice.

Bottlerock is hands-down THE BEST wine restaurant in the westside...forget being the best in culver.

Service = Awesome, personal, friendly.

Food = OMG. OMG.

This place has a huge wine menu. You can get wine from any place you want. Even a remote country that you didn't think made wine is probably on the list. Its almost like reading a book to try to find out the wine you want to sample.
Great atmosphere.

The servings for three people were collectively less than a tiny snack.
there were 2 or 3 slivers of cheese, each about the size of a postage stamp, a few of the thinnest slices of prosciutto I've ever seen, and a like amount of a pepperoni like substance.
there were 5 very tiny dots of a pickle
and a pork order which was about 3 bites.
The Salad was OK
While none of the food was bad, we felt ripped off price wise
Between us we spent over $250.00 then left to eat dinner

Unless you know nothing about wine you are better off going to Trader Joes and picking up a few good bottles and snacks. This place is well overpriced for what you get. I prefer going to what used to be called Vinum but is now part of Ugo. Much better place and much more fun (they even play old Italian movies on the wall) . Bottlerock is a good idea gone bad. The wine selection is mediocre and all the food is made in toaster oven (you can watch the cook if you don't believe me). Ontop of that they charge way more than its worth. Save your hard earned money.

This place has a lot of good attributes and, overall, an awesome staff (there are some exceptions, of course, but that's par for the course). I am a regular, and will continue to go back.

Bottlerock is good for small and large parties a like, and the staff is more knowledgeable about wines than any other place in downtown Culver City (there is still room for improvement on the wine knowledge/sophistication side, which almost earned them 4 stars instead of 5, but they are working on it, so I expect improvement). The manager is friendly (which is refreshing), she often circles the place to greet patrons, and the entire staff aims to please. The service can sometimes be a bit slow when they are busy -- but hey, it's a wine bar (so chill out and enjoy!). I recommend Bottlerock 10 times over Rush (a bar/restaurant in the same vicinity, which had an inexcusably uneducated staff, very disorganized service and clueless management).

Last Friday two coworkers and I went to BottleRock for lunch around noon and it was dead quiet, which was perfect for us since we only had one hour. We all ordered the Black Truffled Grilled Cheese and decided it was the best we've ever had. I also had a glass of the Dom. Georges Brunet Vouvray, France, recommended by the server because I said I liked sweet wine (but not dessert sweet), and was very happy with it. All-in-all, grilled cheese for $8 is a little steep, but when the craving hits, I'll know to spend my money wisely and satisfy the craving. (Our grilled cheese came with a side salad.)

My husband and I came back from Napa and decided to continue our magical wine country experience by trying a wine bar near our home. There was a lot of buzz about Bottle Rock, so we went there after a movie. The entire experience was just below average......sorry. The server was not extremely knowledgeable, the service was slow and a bit too distant for our taste. The food was expectedly boring and typical wine bar cuisine. Maybe we had high expectations. Maybe it was a bad night, but we haven't had the desire to try it again and we have not gone out of our way to tell anyone about it.

As wine bars become more and more popular, Bottle Rock is definitely at the head of the pack. With a large selection of wine and generous glasses poured, this place is always packed with young 20-30 somethings, and the occasional celebrity! Their cheese plate is large and full of fine cheeses and meats that complement the wines greatly. The atmosphere is fun, and there's nothing more fun than sitting out on the patio enjoying wine with your friends.

I've been going to Bottlerock off-and-on since it's opening about 2 years ago, and after having lived in Culver City for 7 years, I was thrilled at the concept and realization of Bottlerock. However, the last time was pretty much the last straw. It's not that it's a bad place, it's just that it is WAY OVERRATED, OVERPRICED, with really POOR POURS. My girlfriend and I ordered 2 $11 glasses, which amounted to just a little more than a tasting - we ended up buying the bottle so as not to feel cheated (not a great way to start the night). The cheese plate was also less than generous - far less, in fact - however it did taste good. I just can't get over the concept of this place: the decor vs. the clientele vs. the music. I get that "rock" is in the title of this place, but how does one enjoy a $50 glass while listening to "Dr. Feelgood"??? The crowd was one notch higher than what one could see at Joxer Daly's - which is where this place is headed. There are much better options in the area now. Goodbye, BottlleJoxers!

Pros: Selection

Cons: Prices and Quantity served

We went on a Saturday afternoon for the wine tasting. It's a cheap alternative to tasting a small wine selection at some of the more expensive places. The waitress watched closely and popped up each time we finished a glass and the food was good enough for the setting.

Sorry, I was disappointed for a number of reasons. The service was mediocre, I found the servers to be less than knowledgeable on wine - it's a WINE BAR!! The temperature of the wine was off - red wine should not be warm. Finally, a cheese plate should give you samples of cheese, not a slice per sample. I've been to high end restaurants and these people do not know what they are doing. Was disappointed and I think they are very overrated.

So we heard about this place ,and went with a group of friends few nights ago.Since we were seven in the group, the bald manager told us an hour wait for a table. Not only we were treated pretty bad but his attitude is horrible towards customers. He has an accent, perhaps he doesn't speak good english or doesn't care about customers. We left within few minutes and wont be back. This place needs to get better management and people who listen to customers, rather than arguing with them.

Oh boy! Where do I start? Okay, last Tuesday I went there with a date. I have known Kim, the manager, for a long time. He greeted us and he asked me what we were in the mood for. I told him we wanted to try something great from the Rhone Valley. Two minutes later he brought a bottle of Hermitage 2003. It was perfect! Kim knows my palate and I trust his judgment. He is always providing value. In other words, he offers you the best wine for an incredible price! Bottlerock's concept is amazing. You can open any of the 800 hundred bottles there, as long as you commit to two glasses. That is unbeatable! Thank God LA has finally come up with the best place for the best vino! Keep it up, friends. I will be there next week!

Bottle Rock.... "ROCKS" We were in this past weekend. We had the best costumer service experience. We had the pleasure of Kim taking us through our wine experience. We learned more from him then any wine tasting we have ever been to. This place was really busy that night and still he took the time to explain to us what we needed to know. Bottom line... Kim is exceptional! Thank you so much!!!

Love bottlerock!! I have been there a few times, and have always enjoyed myself. The cheese selection is amazing...i tried a 3 cheese tasting plate, and paired with a really nice cabernet that was recommended by the waiter, it was truly tasty! I just tried their new grilled cheese too, and it's to die for! Service is wonderful. Really helpful, especially for someone like me, who wants to venture out and try new wines. great atmosphere too. I took my girlfriend there, and she loves it. Romantic but fun too. Great place.

This is the first time I've written a review because, like most of us, time is a commodity. I felt compelled to in this case as BottleRock helped make my birthday celebration awesome. The service was stellar. The Manager was extremely attentive. The wine suggestions were spot on. My wife and I plan on returning whenever we're looking for a fun night out and/or a great bottle of wine.

Went there 2 weeks ago with a buddy from work expecting the worst after reading all the reviews about them. We went on a Wed. night and the place was fairly full, but we were able to get a table and some uncomfortable stools right away. It took a few minutes to get the waiter or anyone to get a menu, after asking for it, 2 guys behind the bar, 1 waiter and 1 female runner/busboy type for the whole place seemed to lend credence to other reviews that service was lacking. No more so than having to wave down the waiter for whatever we needed and him not stopping by our table very often. Tapas and wine go pretty quick so one would expect a few more stops by the table would be nice, but granted it was only that 1 waiter. We had ordered caprese and a turkey melt with a glass of merlot and brunello. I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the tapas were so much so that we ordered another round of the same ones. I was disappointed that for 10 and 14 bucks, that they couldn't fill the wine glasses up a little more. The pourings were right at the halfway point in the glasses. I would recommend this place in definite moderation due to the small tapas and priciness. Service was slow, but nothing to tear them a new one over.

last week i went to bottle rock on saturday night. i love this place but something happened that really disturbed me and had to post. there is a new manager there and i believe he has no personal skills for a bar/restaurant. he was rude to the patrons, usy doing nothing and at one point was screaming at our server on the floor in front of the customers for what i heard to be a just nonsense. if the manager reads this, please get it together and be a professional.

This past weekend, my girlfriends and I stopped by Bottle Rock after a horrific time we had back in January. We remembered the food taking forever and our server being a bit rude and talking way too fast. To our delight, our group had a great time. Our server was patient with us and gave some great suggestions to pair with our cheeses. It seems now a more relaxed enviornment and great staff. Go to this place, you will LOVE IT!!!

We are wine lovers, foodies and tend to be quite critical, in every sense of the word! I had been to BR once before and remembered how warm and informative the Sommeiler was. It was my boyfriend, and my close friend and myself on a Saturday night. We sat down and waited about 3 minutes before our waiter told us he would be right with us and another two minutes before he finally made his way to our table with menus. He then explained that one of their employees had been in a terrible traffic accident, so they were one man short, he then apologized for not getting to us quicker, and he gave us menus. Very genuine, very polite, and very nice. Soon the Sommelier stopped by. We told him what type of wines we were interested in trying and he gave us some wonderful suggestions! We wanted to pair our wine with cheeses, and he gave us suggestions in that department too! Yes, the service was slower than normal, but everyone was so friendly, and the music was great...and good wine should not be rushed anyway! We enjoyed the wine he suggested, so much that we took two bottles home. Prices are also VERY reasonable.

I have to say that bottlerock is the best wine bar in culver city for several reasons. For starting got waited on by nino who rocks the place and explains the wine like it is a poetry by itself. We have never been to a place where the wine guy who talks about wine is a true wine poet and knows wine and really takes time and energy to explain each wine with lot of depth.Oh my god wine is sacred to me but i guess it is more sacred to nino who manages the place flawless. We had a lot of questions and boy he has the right answers for all the wine questions.Nino was so gracious in his wine knowledge and explaing each wine like it was a perfect science to me and my friends.Nino who are you and please tell me you are not the wine god which i think you are.bottlerock is a great place and is packed on a tuesday night and although they were short staffed nino gave us a great education in wine which even a wine class cannot teach me.i love wine but now i would drink it more the way nino described it.His exact words for a california zinfindel were as god himself spoke to the grapes and made the wine himself were very unique and genuine and boy we loved it.My god nino you are a true wine lover and we shall return to hear your next description of a new wine which you can intoduce to us.Bottlerock you are great to have a true wine afficinado like him taking care of your customers.Thank you mr nino the wine poet.

I read about bottlerock in the los angeles magazine and also from one of girlfriends who happens to be a regular at bottlerock.Bottlerock has a huge wine list and amazing wines from all over the world.I love the concept of opening any bottle as long as you order two glasses of it besides the list by the glass.I love this place and love the cute guy who waited on us whom all of us wanted to take him home. The service is very good and above all he was charming and cute in explaing each wine how it taste. We finally had to ask for our bill since we had dinner reservations at the fords filling station. On the way out we asked the hostess for his name and she said nino.Oh my god i love this place and love him more so we are coming back soon for the wines and to see him.my only complain at bottlerock is the music a bit too loud for our taste.

Really cool hangout. I go to this place not really foor its wine but the beer. My brother and I go here about twice a month to try out the selction of brews. Its not the widest selction I ever seen but eclectic to say the least. Only bottles, though I heard from one of the guys that they're going to have beers on tap in the future. Upon reading the reviews on citysearch, I have to wonder if this Nino guy posts his own reviews? Either way, check this place out, totally worth it.

I went to bottlerock with my girlfriends last saturday for the first time.We were seated promptly by a sweet hostess and was waited on by a very handsome person who later told his name nino.He explained the concept at bottlerock and answered all the questions about wine and why wine should be enjoyed instead of making a big fuss.Nino was great in explaing all the varietals of wines and different wine regions that we were flabergasted by his knowledge and his humbleness. We ended up getting costentino st helena cab franc and ended with a red car syrah which was phenomenal.I have to say lot of places dont have people like him who really explain wine in depth and not push you wines which you dont like.We had a great time and later on found out that he is the main man who manages the place.Nino thank you so much for your time and taking good care of us.We will return soon and will tell more people about bottlerock and you. Please make sure you ask for him because he knows wine and he knows service.

The owner is rude, the service is horrendous and don't ask about why certain things are on the menu (such as fois gras, which is being outlawed in California) because the owner will tell you to do other, better things with your time.

I went for the first time to Bottle Rock last week with a couple of buddies, and had a blast trying different wines. We must have drunk four or five glasses each, but different wines. The manager Nino told us what to try, and we drank some Bordeaux wines from France and from California. The place has a huge selection to choose from and he explained a lot about each wine. Nice guy. I only wish there was more food on the menu, but for a bar, their cheese etc. was enough. Good crowd, everybody pretty sociable. I enjoyed it and my buddies and I are definitely coming here next week. good music too, but not opera.

My boyfriend saw Bottle Rock one time and told me about it (I love wine), so we stopped by one night...and have been going pretty much every week since then. It's a chill place that's great for unwinding after work. It has a relaxed atmosphere and good music to keep you relaxed, but upbeat and in a good mood at the same time. They have a great selection of wine and the waiters are knowledgable, so they can help you select a wine. They also offer a weekly flight of 3 1oz glass of wine for $12. I love the yummy selection of cheeses and other snacks to munch on while I'm there. Although the service can sometimes be slow, it's nothing to sweat if you have a glass to sip on while you wait!

The room is modern and roomy, there are lots of hip customers and it?s a sociable place to enjoy good wines with your friends. Even if you don?t know much about different wines, they have a huge selection, with wines in every price range from very cheap to ?bring your daddy? prices! Plus, you can get an education from the waiting staff. Nino served us and practically gave a wine appreciation course at our table while helping us choose what to try! He?s full of information about lots of wines, knows all about the different wineries and has been to many of them himself in various countries. We had a few laughs with him too. Nino is a clever guy, and made us feel very welcome. This is our new hangout!

I read the reviews on citysearcha lot and love the feedback on this site. Bottle Rock came highly recommended and had to try it out. I was completely impressed with this place. Wine selection was impressive and the food complimented it well. The only thing that bothered me was the owner, Nino, was charming but duped us into some glasses of wine without telling us the price and was quite out of our budget. I mean the wine was great just wished he would have told us what we were getting into. But check this place out, you will definitely have a great time.

"BottleRock" is an interesting name. I was walking by one day and wanted to know what it was, so I walked in. The first thing you see is a wall of wine bottes lying on their sides. Hey, a wine place! A wine bar it turned out. I love wine - let's try it! I got the menu, lots of choices, though not much food but plenty of cheese. I expected high prices, and whereas there are plenty of choices of wines for $50 a glass, I was surprised to see whole bottles offerd for half that price and wine by the glass is very, very affordable. I think I saw several for $5-10 a glas. The man who served me Nino, the Manager as it turned out, was un-be-lievable as to how much he knows about wine! He dressed sharp, his wine knowledge was sharp, and his service was sharp. I liked his friendly way, and he gave me a mini-wine class when discussing the choices of French bordeaux wines which I love. Nino is a character; he said "wine is life, it's a journey of self enjoyment" or words to that effect. I think he's obsessed with wines, and in his job, that's not a bad thing! He has traveled all over the world, and started talking about wineries in various countries, and when he described the characteristics of the wines, it was like wine poetry! Nino was gracious with his time and made sure he thoroughly described all the wines we were tlaking about. I asked a lot of questions, and his knowledge is so superior that in the end I just asked him to select something for me and I'd go with his choice. Well, he sure knows what he's doing! The wines he brought were delicious! I've been to some of the best restaurants in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and some of the best in France and Italy and Germany, and I never met someone like Nino with so much knowledge about the wine regions of the world, and so much willingness to spend the time and share his obvious enthusiasm and information about wines. You won't go wrong letting Nino choose your wines! I'm definitely going back, and asking for Nino.

Cons: not much food, but enough to enjoy with wine

...and looks around and see's a partially packed house with wines on the wall, something smelling delicious in the air and conversation buzzing all around. We were greeted by a well dressed gentleman and take our seats. We look over the menu that has wines by the glass, tapas menu, cheese list and a beer menu. Not to mention a binder of all the wines in the store for drinking or take home. Our server, really not that typical in a wine bar, with his nose pierced and tattoo's, patientley guided us through the process of ordering the start of many glasses of beverages and helped us with getting some food to go along with wine and my friend, some beer. Now the food here is totally underrated. The caprese, salami, grilled cheese are down right, how do I put this...yummy yumsters? And also the cheese?! Manchego, gouda and newly introduced to me, robiola. (I wrote them all down) Amazing. The crowd was pouring in slowly as the night was moving along, so my friends and I people watched, tried a few new glasses and our server, who we now know as Todd, worked hard to fight through the crowd to make us feel comfortable. We ended our night at Bottle Rock with a suggested moscato to satisfy our sweet tooth along with the apple tart. This place will be seeing our faces again. Hope to see yours there too!

These people at BottleRock should put up a sign saying: "Over 22,000 glasses of wine served!" (whatever the right number is) and keep increasing the number, like McDonald's did with burgers, because I think this place could really take off and become a chain of wine bars, the place is so good! I don't know about you, but I keep coming back to a restaurant (or bar) because I like the owners (or managers) and enjoy the fact that they recognize me and are friendly and are even entertaining. Nino, the manager of BottleRock fits that bill to a "T"! I'll keep coming back to enjoy his wine wisdom, his joking sense of humor and his friendly personality. And the guy knows so much about wines! It's an education to listen to him. He recommended a couple of wines we loved, a merlot and a cab. BottleRock has a great location in Culver City, intimate and upscale, and they serve good food too. The selection of wines seems vast and the prices are definitely reasonable. Check it out!

The wine selection is very good, The price is amazing. The food is to die for (try the caprese!) Nino's attentiveness is worth the very long time it takes to get the food, but liek I said the food is very, very good. It is so refreshing to finally have a REAL wine bar in Los Angeles.

My wife and I recentley went to this place and was very suprised with the selection of their many wines and competative prices. The owner of Bottle Rock, Nino, was very busy overlooking his bar but took the time out to come over, introduce himself and make a suggestion of wines to pair with our favorite cheeses. The layout was charming, service was great and the food and wine were excellent!

I recently went to BottleRock and had a great time! Everyone was very cordial. Because of the catering business my wife and I had for 15 years, we have eaten and partaken of wine in some of the best restaurants in France as well as Los Angeles. For example, we?ve drunk some fantastic St. Emilion in the town of St. Emilion. At BottleRock we had the pleasure of being helped by the manager Nino, who is one of the most knowledgeable wine experts I have ever met. His ability to describe wines and his upbeat personality made the whole experience fun! He helped us pick some really great wines. You can have them by the glass, and when they sell you a bottle, they charge retail prices, not restaurant prices! If you don't take it home but drink it there, corkage is only $10. Great concept! I loved the modern decor with a wall of wines. I plan on taking my friends and business colleagues to BottleRock and look forward to more of their great wines! And great service!

My girlfriend and I went to BottleRock last night after dinner for a couple of drinks. It was extremely busy but the wait wasn't too bad. We waited by the door with a glass of wine and when we were seated, we were greeted by our server and got started. The cheese menu was amazing, perfectly paired with our Pinot's. The crowd was cool and the music was great. A wine bar playing rock? Who knew? The staff was knowledgeable and our waiter Todd was real cool. Check this place out and have a few.

I was looking forward to having a wine bar in the center of town. After my first disappointing experience, and giving the benefit of the doubt to the staff and their hospitality, I must say that I am still disappointed. Bottle Rock has a wide variety of quality wine, but we were treated poorly each time we went there; to drink a glass and to purchase bottles. The staff acts as if we are doing them a favor by giving them business. They are not warm nor hospitable. It is a shame to know there is such a noticeable difference between the quality of wine and the quality of service.

The wine is great and the food is great. I think it depends on what time of the day you come in regarding service, especially on a Saturday afternoon the service is a little lackadaisical. During the evenings the waiters are more attentive and knowledgeable about the wines. They advertise a wine tasting on Saturdays from 12 to 4pm for ten bucks, but every time I have shown up for it they are never having it! The alternative that is offered is a wine flight that cost about eight dollars more. It feels like a bit of false advertising. I wish they would honor their ten-dollar wine tasting session on Saturdays because it would be a fun and affordable way to spend time with friends and become conversant about different types of wines.

i took my fiancee last night at bottlerock for the first time and they were super busy.We got seated in the patio by the heater and had few glasses of different wines per our server nino's suggestion.i have to say this is the best place for wines by far and they have great glasses to go with the wines.first wine we had was blue rock cabernet, which was delicious and very hard to find in restaurants. The second wine was selene merlot which was a big bordeaux style and very complex. We had a great time and we shall return.I am in the restaurant business myself and i have to say they got there stuff together.from service to wines, bottlerock is top notch indeed.I am astounded by the wine selections here and the mark up is very small as well.Bottlerock is the coolest place to go for wines in la.

Went to bottle rock for the first time last night and had a great time. the food was great, we had a cheese plate prepared by the house chef along with this duck salad. it was kinda crowded but nothing unusual on a friday night. the staff was nice, crowd was versatile and atmosphere was cool. i hope they keep the rock n roll idea going and not turn into a pretentious wine bar.

Pros: service and wines

Cons: chairs

We went to bottlerock last night for the first time and was very happy with the service we all got here.i work in the restaurant business myself and was very much pleased to be served by nino who is manager and the wine guy at bottlerock. He made us feel very comfortable with no attitude and above all humble in his wine knowledge. Not only he knows wine but he knows how to treat his customers right. We were there till they closed the place down and we noticed the customers love him for his cool attitude.nino not only you are a great person but you deserve the knighthood from the wine society for your wine knowledge. We love you and would love to bring more friends at bottlerock soon.
