Message from French American Brasserie

A Grand Brasserie In The Truest Sense.
  • French Cuisine
  • Exquisite Wine Selection
  • Breathtaking Décor

French American Brasserie is stunning, a grand brasserie in the truest sense (although smoking is only allowed on the rooftop): 15,000 square feet spread over four floors with a circular bar, grand staircase, hand-painted ceilings, marble and brass accents, and ornate chandeliers. Service is as polished as the setting; omnipresent owner Fabrice Vergez oversees all. Longtime fans will recognize classics like the white bean and truffle oil soup and sautéed skate wing in caper and brown butter sauce. But the velvety pan-roasted monkfish with house-cured salt cod and the succulent Harris Ranch filet with seared foie gras and asparagus display new verve from the kitchen, as do the plump sweetbreads with wild mushrooms and black truffle sauce. The flavorful organic watercress, membrillo and marcona almond salad is a novel vegetarian choice.

Fabulous Food, Bad Service 3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

Ate at FAB over the weekend. First I want to say that the food was AMAZING! I wish I could say the same for the service. We had a drink at the bar before dinner and the bartender was unengaging and unfriendly. Once we sat down, the pattern continued. Our server seemed much more concerned about the table down from us and we were an after thought. The food came out WAY to quick especialy since we ordered a bottle of wine and were trying to have relaxing dinner. It took the waiter 20 MINUTES to come pick up our credit card and check to pay. We were pretty irritated by the time we left. I defintely got the feeling that they cater to the regulars from the Buckhead location and we were the outsiders. Not a great way to treat potential new customers at a new location.

Pros: Food
Cons: Service

FABulous French Fare 5 Star Rating - World class

Our experience at French American Brasserie was excellent. I enjoyed the lobster special which was a lobster tail in braised garlic butter. The lobster was very tender and not overcooked. My husband had the flank steak which was cooked to perfection. We both enjoyed the broccolini and garlic fries. For dessert, we had the chocolate covered strawberries and the apple galette.

Pros: Valet Parking
Cons: None

It was good - not great 3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

I must not have had the same experience as the other reviewers. We enjoyed the different offerings on the menu, but were not blown away by anything in particular. The restaurant space is huge and gorgeous. The bar is well positioned in the middle of the action. I do want to go back when it is warm to check out the roof top bar - but will probably not spend another $100+ on dinner there.

Pros: Bar
Cons: Pay for Valet

Below Average 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

The people that work here look really unhappy. I've never seen so many fake looking smiles. I realize in the restaurant business you're on a stage but the people here are like the "Plan 9" of restaurant actors. 5 bucks for parking. my first and last time here. They should have left the idea of Le Coze dead at Lenox, Gilbert is rolling over in his grave. Food is either over salted or way too bland. All the old unattentive servers from Le Coze are here....Hell I think one is the Manager. This place is the best way in Atlanta to waste 100 on a meal for 2. I'm never going back.

Pros: They will be out of business again
Cons: Can it be soon enough

Great Food & Drinks! 5 Star Rating - World class

I work right across the street, so we often frequent FAB for lunch and after work drinks! I love their tomato penne with basil and parm. Also, I highly recommend the field green salad and have it topped with grilled salmon! Their service is always great. They also have a great Chocolate Martini if you are in the mood for something a little sweet after your dinner!
