A lot of people like this place, but I've been by a few times and just don't get the appeal. Maybe if you're a southerner and like the particular kind of food? It certainly doesn't have world class beer like some of the other places in the

This place is a great hangout for meeting friends and grabbing some delicious burgers or hot chicken wings! The prices are affordable- grab a quesadilla or some awesome BBQ wings for just 10 bucks!

The service is quick and pleasant. It's usually packed in which makes for a fun, lively environment. Perfect for watching the game and hanging out.

Will definitely be back!

Sick location before any event at the garden. I went before the Professional Bull Riding Show and had a great time with friends. It was an excellent spot to enjoy some pickens and drinks. I munched on some yummy chicken wings and fries with their delectable array of BBQ sauces. Don't forget about the fish bowl with a toy croc!!! Whats funner than that. Then proceeded to cross the street to the garden, whats better than that!

I recently hit up Brother's Jimmies before a Knicks game at MSG. The drinks were awesome and the food was even better. The bartenders and waitstaff were fun, welcoming and entertaining. It was so good we went back after the game too!

Get the BBQ wings, brisket and plantation punch!

North Carolina style BBQ. In the quest to find good BBQ in New York City, I've been let down more often than not. This place is okay. Cool decor, fun vibe, and the food is well, alright. I don't know how you can have a BBQ restaurant and look me dead in the eye and tell me you don't have jalapenos. I guess I'm more of a Texas-style BBQ fan than North Carolina. It's a good thing they had their own Hot Sauce at the table to save the day. They also have a variety of BBQ sauces at the table which is pretty cool I guess. I may come back to try the ribs, which are supposed to be slow cooked for anywhere from 5-12 hours. Waitstaff is helpful and attentive, unless there's a Rangers game, then it just gets too busy.

I have been a big fan of Jimmy's for years. Their pulled chicken is the best. The sides are pretty good too. I haven't eaten their in the while but whenever I get a chance I will be back!

Where else can you drink bright fruity cocktails out of a mason jar? Or a fish bowl with a thousand straws? Love the whistle when one is brought over to you, makes your alcoholism noticable to everyone in the bar! No but really, BJs has some good food, anything 'pulled' for instance and nightly specials which make going out easy on the pocketbook (or wallet).

I?ve been patronizing Brother Jimmy?s, specifically the 2nd Avenue location for over 10 years, beginning when I was in graduate school, with a group of friends to watch college and NFL games. After an experience I had last night during my first visit to the Midtown location which assures I will never set foot in that establishment again. While having dinner with my wife on the 2nd floor, at a tightly packed table for 2, I attempted to use some of the BBQ sauce containers provided on the table for a brisket platter I had just ordered, which was dry like sandpaper. When I turned the dispenser tube upside down, it splattered all over my plate, covering my shirt and shorts with BBQ sauce, as well as splashing two patrons sitting at the adjoining tables. I was literally covered in BBQ sauce because whoever had re-filled the dispenser had not bothered to tighten the lid.
We attempted to flag down 2 busboys and waitresses who simply walked right past. Finally when a busboy came over, he simply handed me a wet towel he had just used to wipe down a table 10 feet away. We had to wait nearly ten minutes to get a waitress and a man who was apparently a manager to come to the table, who, barely apologetic, offered me a t-shirt and not to charge me for the entree that was covered in BBQ sauce. But still proceeded to charge me for an entree my wife was too disgusted to eat after the experience and for a pitcher of beer. While I am sure that this type of service will suffice with some tourists, I can assure you as someone who knows the options of BBQ restaurants in New York City, I will not be back. An e-mail to the company has not been returned....a week later.

Cons: overpriced drinks, awful service

brother Jimmy's looks like a fun place to have a quick drink and snack after work. Sadly, every time I have tried to go here (4 times) we have either been told they are not letting anyone in because of a private party or the wait is over an hour for a table.

For an hour that better be some darn good BBQ. I'm just not willing to wait and find out. Maybe sometime I will get to eat here...

AND THE MANAGER SAVED MY BLACKBERRY! I have been here a few times and have always liked the BBQ and the service is very friendly and competent. It is crowded and loud but I feel it is worth it especially if you are in the right mood.

I went there last week after a business trip in upstate Connecticut. I ate, had a couple of drinks, and then headed back to Brooklyn. Unfortunately, on the subway I realized I had left my device at the bar. By the time I got home, I had an e-mail from the manager Brian that he had my phone. What a relief and I cannot believe he went the extra mile to locate my e-mail (off my incoming e-mails).

Thanks Brian and Brother Jimmy?s.

My friend and I were seating promptly by girls who looked no older than 15-yrs and dressed as Daisy Duke. The atmosphere was pretty layed back, I didn't have to shout over dinner, which was nice for a change. Plopped amidst the Madison Square Garden complex (plus the all the tourists and NJ visitors; and the dull top-40 music playing) it was a little too commercial for me--akin to TGIF.

The food came very quickly, I mean, lightning speed. Tasty too. Not Virgil's...but pretty good.

Pros: Quick tasty bbq in Midtown...finally. Kid & tourist friendly

Cons: Hardcore bbq lovers b-ware, weak drinks

Beers are overpriced ($5.25 for a bottle of Coors Light). Our waitress was poor and gave an attitude when I pointed out how the price on the menu didn't match what was on the bill. If you can overlook that, the food is good.

stopped in before a Garden event. pleasantly surprised at the relaxed atmosphere. having spent much time in the South, was quite satisfied with the quality of the BBQ. Service was friendly and prompt. Excellent bar selections - especially the variety of bourbons. would definitely return and will use Bro Jim's as a meeting place after work.

Taste is subjective but there is no discussion on the absolute worst service I have ever experienced. After being told that the wait was "no more than a half hour" 4 of us had a few drinks at the bar. We checked on the wait for the table 2X in the next 50 min. After 1 hour an answer became imperative as our concert at the Garden was rapidly approaching, the hostess than asked "did we really want to eat"? After answering the question with an incredulous "yes" we were told that there were a lot of reservations and we couldn't eat any time soon. Jimmy's BBQ has just raised the bar for incompetence for any restaurant I have ever walked in and that includes fast food places staffed by 16 year-olds.

Pros: Location near "The Garden"

Cons: The hostess does not have a clue.

The first and last time I went to this place was on a friday afternoon at about 1:30. After being told there was a wait, l left and came back 6 minutes later and was then immediately seated, apparently more than half of the upstairs had left in those 6 minutes. My friend and I, who were absolutely starving, waited 25 minutes for a waitress to come to our table, all the meanwhile watching other customers who had arrived after us being served. Finally one waitress walked by, trying to avoid us, and i called her over and she took our order. Then after over 30 minutes of ignoring us, the person who was supposed to be our waitress comes over, only to find out we've already ordered. We were at least expecting great food, but that too was awful! The burger had no taste and my fries were super soggy and my friend's "curly fire fries" weren't curly at all, but just bits of incredibly salty potato. Hands down it had to be the worst experience i've ever had in any restaurant, i've never been treated that way in my life.

I work in the area and I'm so happy to have a great place to go for lunch and happy hour! They have great drinks (the carolina cooler especially!) and great food. I had a pulled pork sandwich with macaroni and cheese and both were great! Better than anywhere else Ive been in the city. I will definitely be visiting this place again. The people that worked there were friendly and they played good music. bar was pretty packed after work so get there early!
