I'll have to keep this brief to keep my temper down. I had wind and hail damage which damaged my siding and roof. Chuck knocked on my door and offered his services, I didn't call him - he knocked on every door in my subdivision that day. They stripped my siding and roof immediately and took months to come back and do anything - in the winter! When they shoddily finished the roof, they shingled over the holes where roof vents used to be. They said they weren't necessary but left the holes anyway. They then contacted my insurance company and said they were done with the roof and siding and needed to pick up the checks for the work. The checks were made out to me and Chuck forged my signature (and spelled my name wrong) and cashed them. Never heard from him again and they never finished any work. While they weren't working on my house, one of his deadbeat relatives left a rusty of panel van that had broken down in front of my house for weeks, leaking oil. The other neighbors in my subdivision that used him also had problems of no work, leaky roofs, no tarpaper between the shingles and plywood, etc. A friend of mine in a different town hired him to replace all of the windows in his house. Since they were a "custom" order he had to pay for them all up front. He never heard or saw him again once the check cleared. Lisa Madigan sued Chuck in 2009 for a reason. Drive by his work address, which is his home and you'll learn everything you need to know. WARNING: he changes his business name every few years. I wish he'd stop by my house again so I could "thank" him in person.

Templeton Construction did the same thing to me as in review #1, written by Wayne R. After 9 weeks of trying to get them to do the work that I already paid half down ($2125.00), I told them not to do the roof and refund my deposit. I was told I was not entitled to a refund because it had been more than 3 days since I signed the contract. I then went to Bureau County and filed a small claims suit. That court date is coming up in 2 weeks. I will update this review following my court date. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY WERE THE CHEAPEST BID AND I BELIEVE THEY BID SO LOW SO THEY GET THE JOB AND THEN THEY TAKE THE DEPOSIT AND RUN. I tried to submit this with zero stars, but I had to pick a star. THEY GET ZERO STARS FROM ME!

This is the worst contractor I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. We had a roof job bid from Templeton Construction in October of 2007. We decided to go with them, they asked for a $1700 deposit, we upped it in good faith and gave them $2000 instead. We were promised that the job would be done no later than Thanksgiving. When that date came and passed we started calling. Finally after calling from a different line with a number he didn't know, we were able to contact Chuck Templeton, the owner. He then promised that the job would be complete within another week at the most. Again this deadline came and went and we were unable to contact him again until June of 2008. We finally tracked him down by calling family members and getting another number for him. At this point we were threatening lawsuits as well as criminal charges considering he simply took our money and refused to even return a phone call. FINALLY AFTER EIGHT MONTHS AND DOZENS OF PHONE CALLS, his crew showed up to start the work. The job was bid for 30# paper, 15# paper showed up instead. WE had to drive to go get the correct paper. The shingles were delivered and WE had to pay cash before they would leave them even though we had already given him $2000 and not a stitch of work had been done yet. Instead of gutter apron, drip edge was delivered, WE had to buy the correct material for the job..A job that should have taken a couple of days ended up taking a couple of weeks. The job was finally completed, poorly. Fascia installation was mediocre at best, roof vents were not painted as promised, flashing was not installed as it should have been, etc. All in all a VERY poor, unprofessional job. After getting all of our receipts in order and presenting them to Chuck Templeton, we had to argue about how much he was actually still owed. In the end he finally relented and took the balance that I agreed to. He assured us that his warranty was still good and that if we had any problems to call.
Skip ahead about a month after the job was completed and paid in full. We had a big storm come through which blew off our new chimney cap that they replaced. We called to have them come re-install it and actually fasten it down this time. NO RETURN CALL. I had to climb to the top of a 2 story Victorian and re-install it myself. But I actually fastened it to the pipe. Then during the last week of August we had another rain storm. Now the ceiling in our front room is leaking terribly! We call...and call...and again NO ANSWER, NO RETURN CALL. With my neighbors help, we fix it ourselves. The water was leaking right in where they pulled out boards where the front room roof meets the 2nd story wall. Now on Sept. 4th 2008 we had more rain, and find out it is POURING in through the roof, into the attic, through the attic floor/2nd floor ceiling, through the electrical wiring, ceiling fan / light of my daughter's bedroom, all over the hardwood floors. With several plastic tubs we're able to catch all the leaks until it stops raining. We have yet to find out why so much water was pouring through our BRAND NEW ROOF. We've now left 4 messages, and called about a dozen times, again WITH NO ANSWER AND NO RETURN CALLS!
We would strongly suggest that you NEVER use this contractor, Templeton Construction, or ANY company that is owned by or employs Chuck Templeton, Jr.
