I went here and asked if I could have a certain tea that they didn't normally have iced (they serve it hot however). The girl behind the counter snarled, "I guess so". I was very taken aback. The rest of the counter staff was standing around talking to each other and when my drink was ready, it was put on the counter without eye contact or a thank you. Very bad service.
L'Aroma Cafe is the place to be in Boston, MA.Located right at the heart of this magnificent city, it offers a wide selection of gourmet dishes & exquisite coffee in every sip.
Besides coffee there is a good selection of teas. I recommend the ceylon tea and a cup of gelato. Their gelato selection is limitted relative to places like Cafe Paradisio in the North End but it is good. One can sit outside and people watch or curl up with a book in the cozy basement space.
Also great people watching...it's towards the ritzy end of Newbury Street across from H&M and on the weekends the crowds are varied and colorful.
Pros: Great Coffee and Food; Fun, Attractive, Young Staff
Cons: can get a little crowded around lunch times...but if you just want iced coffee or gelato they have a podium outside
Its amazing how L'Aroma Cafe manages to feel like a small specialty cafe while being so busy. The food was great, I had the soup and a Casanova (ham and swiss on a croissant), and the coffee was delicious. Though there was a line, the energetic, cheerful staff served everyone quickly and even managed to be friendly and helpful while doing so. I would absolutely go back. They even have beautiful deserts (try the fruit tart - or the chocolate raspberry tart) and have definately become my much cheaper, much less crowded post-theater alternative to Finale! .....ps. sitting outside in the summer at night on Newbury St. is amazing....and they just put out their patio!
