My first time downtown in a long time! I liked this place a lot and was surprised that i liked the crowd too. You never know what you're gonna get downtown. Had a bit of a wait in line but it was worth it; the club is huge with plenty of seating, a great cover band and really good DJ playing! Had a HOT waitress too so that always helps.

I took some friends to Venue who were in town from San Francisco and we all had a BLAST! We had no idea it was their Christmas In July party which was different and fun for everyone- the decor was awesome! We got bottle service and were given a gift with the table service - it was 6 glass snifters, a key chain and a set of cuff links. We all thought it was a great touch and a nice addition since we spent a lot of money! The service was a little slow but once we got our first bottle service set-up everything was smooth. I'd recommend this place to anyone - the DJ was also very good.

Pros: Not the same oooold boring stuff!

The place was nice with plenty of room to sit or dance and the drinks were very strong which is always a plus and the music was good. However, aside from the bartenders, the people working the inside of the place were just rude, one waitress (i guess that's what she was, she was delivering a bottle to a table) actually pushed me out of her way. She did say excuse me as she pushed me so i guess that made it ok in her mind??? The bouncers that were inside were rude as well. We were only there long enough to have a couple drinks, I couldn't believe how arrogant and rude the employees were. My husband and I will not be going back.

A friend and I went last night and had a FABULOUS time. Dress to impress and expect to spend some $$. We were warmly greeted by all of the friendly staff dressed in suits as we entered. The decor, lighting, and music are amazing! It was pretty slow until 11pm, but the cover is free on Saturdays before 10:30pm (It's $10 otherwise). The valet is also $10. At 11pm, they slide a huge door to the dance floor open and the DJ starts spinning (last night, one of the owners was the DJ for a little while just because he enjoys it so much). Then a live band who played a mix of house, techno, top 40s, and dance played for the rest of the evening.

There's plenty of comfortable seating strategically placed near the dance floor and in a separate lounge area, a small dance floor, and let me just say - incredibly huge, clean bathrooms. We also had to request that the bartender make our drinks less strong!--No complaints there! Venue is absolutely one of the nicest clubs in Houston.

I just recently came back from Xmas vacation visiting family who lives in Miami. For a change I decided to go all out this New Years on the acount of some good fortune so I chose Venue. Being that I have never been and have only heard good rumors really put it up to chance. Lets just say...MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Where has this place been? How is it that such a place could go un-noticed by my social group and trust me, we are i-n-t-e-r-n-a-t-i-o-n-a-l ROCKSTARS! Oh..thats right...its Downtown. Although downtown, it was nestled between a group of bars and resteraunts which included Flying Saucer and Angelo's which did not fit your downtown stigma. A few blocks away was Rock Bar and the other direction ...House of Blues. I pre-purchased my tickets at $50 each and had a table for 15 of my friends. The section was for 4 bottles but we ended up with 6. Like i said.....ROCKSTARS...lol Bottle prices where cheaper than most clubs in Houston and compared to the rest of the country....HAPPY HOUR! What impressed me the most was the experience. Rivaling clubs from New York to South Beach Miami they blew me away with an assortment of goodies. The night started off with a light house set (to set the mood )and then right into Live music by what I understand is their house band. Cover bands freak me out but these guys are good. After the first set, the DJ cam back on with some sick S#!% and to my surprise, 3 hot GoGo Dancers. The countdown was intense and you could feel the love in the room from everyone. Needless to say it was one of the best New Years EVA!!! The staff was friendly...not sure about bartenders because we had bottle service. Our cocktail waitress was excellent and should be able to pay for her second semester with the tip we left her..lol. If you are trully one that enjoys a good time and not a CHEAP @$$, you will like this place. I expect to return soon ...well as soon as we sober up from NYE!

So I was visiting from Chicago, and after this experience I truly realized that Chicago nightlife is on a whole other level compared to this "wanna be" exclusive spot....This place doesn't have a clue on how to be a truly "exclusive and high end lounge/club"....I WILL NEVER RETURN HERE NEITHER DO I RECOMMEND IT! So this was my experience:

I RSVP'd for Bottle Service, First of all the doormen were rude, arrogant and obviously not professionals and that is a big turnoff for someone that is going to consume a lot inside. I had to wait 20 min to get in before I finally "pulled some strings" to get in. UNACCEPTABLE! Third the cashier tried to hustle me a cover that is ridiculous if you are doing bottle service...this shows the lack of customer service and the desperation that the club has to make money! She tried to overcharge me thinking I wasn't going to check my change and I was short $30 which I later told her to give me. THEY TRIED TO PULL A FAST ONE ON ME AT THE DOOR!!!! WHO DOES THIS? The crowd was decent, the estetics were horrible inside, but I must say the bartenders were quick and very friendly thank god! The prices were on the high end considering that it's Houston...Overall I was VERY disappointed with my experience and hope that there are better places in Houston that know how to treat their patrons/guests.....I doubt this place is going to last much longer, they are obviously struggling because the employees and club is trying to hustle every last dollar that they can from their guests....FIND A BETTER PLACE TO PARTY HOUSTON!

The first time.. I went I had a blast.. I saw people there that I knew.. the staff was great.. and that gray haired man the girl is talking about in the other review HE IS NoT THE Owner.. I know exactly who.. that is and he is a very nice.. guy.. (you were probably a sloppy drunk).. if you are pretty and thin.. you will have a great.. time here.. the guys are hot.. and so is the staff... there is hardly room for dancing.. and it seems like all the tables are reserved.. so RESERVE TABLE IF YOU WANT A PLACE TO SIT!!!!!!

Venue is the best example of what I can describe as a unique experience. Last weekend a group of friends and I celebrated my 25th birthday. The whole idea of the Live Band, Dj, and Lights Show really made me feel like I was in a different city. Houston has nothing like this anywhere.....it is in downtown and a little far away but I think the drive its really worth it. Actually downtown looks pretty nice, I was reallly impressed!!

i was there just last nite and i was standing watching the show on stage, a very old, short gray causacian haired man comes charging near the bar area and pushed me in the process. i stumbled and grabbed him and said "wo! watch out". now, im a female,who had not been drinking and my stature poses no threat and it was very crowded so i went into defense mode as i thought he was intoxicated (he seemed to be)...he yelled out "ur outta here" "get the f outta here" "u wont do that to me!" and grabbed security and escorted me out. i had no idea who this was and told the cops that i was pushed and i merely defended myself. NOONE listened to me. the cops clearly could see i was sober and very confused. turns out, HE IS THE OWNER. this terribly insecure old man needs to give up club ownership and focus on retirement.

So I walk into this red room, with cover charge, with leather couches and a bunch of people chillaxin and go "I thought this was a club?". At about 10 am the whole wall starts to fold up and there it is........clubbers paradise. They had two djs and even a group singing live dance music(rrrr or lipsinching). The lighting effects were very nice and of course there is a huge bar on the dance floor as well. There were also plenty of places to chill out inside of the dance club. My favorite was the live dancers in the crowds. One guy was doing break dancing and that it was cool.

Pros: no cover before club opens

I went here for a friend's bachelorette party. We had gone to dinner a few blocks down and arrived at Venue about 9:30. There wasn't a whole lot going on at the time so the bouncer suggested we get stamped so we didn't have to pay cover and then come back. We did that and hung out at a pub down the street until about 10:30. It was great not having to pay the cover and when we got inside it was really nice. The bartender was super nice and there was plenty of seating in the front. The DJ was great, the bathrooms were clean, overall it was a good experience. I recommend it for people looking for a change of scenery in Houston.

Venue was awesome. My boyfriend and I was bored one Sunday night when the electricity went off on our whole entire block. We didn't want to sit at home with no TV so we decided to get ready and have a night on the town...downtown that is. We were driving up and down Main trying to decide where to go when we saw a crowd waiting to get into Venue so we decided to check it out. It was beautiful and spacious inside. One of the bartenders had an attitude, so we approached a different one and he was very nice. My boyfriend couldn't decide on what to drink so he had the bartender mix him up something that had Absolut Madarin, cranberry juice and some other drinks. It was very tasty. The music they played got the place CRUNK and it was just so fun. It was so fun that I strap on my dress broke! The staff were helpful though. I went around and asked the staff for a safety pin and they were very helpful. Instead of a safety pin, they gave me a stapler. All in all, it was a great experience.

We went to Venue for the first time on Saturday night to celebrate my cousins bachlorette party. I have to say that I was kind of nervous going, cause I had heard different reviews on the place. I called the day before to make the reservations and wasn't sure on whether space would still be available. The guy that called me back that same day was extremely nice and helpful in answering all my questions. I was really impressed when I even got another call on the night of, to comfirm we were still coming. Larry, the gentleman that called me, was very polite and said to ask for him when we made it down there. From the moment we walked into the very trendy decorated bar, we had nothing short of a great time! The reserved area was absolutely fabulous with comfortable sofas and a great waitress! The music was awsome! Especially the live band! They played all kinds of music from the 80's, 90's and current! We danced all night long and totally enjoyed every minute of it! This will definately be a place that we will visit again and again!

My friends and i where surprised to see such a beautiful place in Houston. It reminded me of a place you would find in Miami. We got bottle service and a sweet table next to the stage. The bottle prices was cheaper than other clubs I have been to. If you order your bottles before 11pm they have discounted prices. The service was great and the entertainment was first class. The live music and DJ combination was sweet. This place is where you show off to your girl.

Out of all the clubs in houston with bottle service. Venue has the worst. They make you pay for cover while most clubs let you bring in 10-15 people for free per bottle. Then they don't tell you about their bottle service specials or their hidden service fee charge. So I showed to pay 225 a bottle when the waitress came over and told us it was 265 a bottle. WTH? So then on the way out I grabbed a flyer which saids bottle service specials before 11, there was no such special or no one told us, and I ordered at 10:45! So me and everyone that went decided not to go to Venue anymore because they are so freaking shady! They only let people in for free before 1030 on Saturdays and they charge $20 if you show up after midnight. If they weren't trying so hard to rip us off I would have liked the place. Environments alright, dance floor is too small but the fact that they keep trying to hustle their patrons is a deal breaker for me!

This club is not for people who are looking for a DJ and a dance floor. The club is for people who are looking for a concert atmosphere. The club has a stage with a big space for people to sit and stand and listen to a band sing. Not the place if you wish to drink a lot and dance.

I was there last nite cuz my friend's B-Day party. I got there later than my friends cuz I have to finish my wrok. When I arrive with my friend at door the door man said he can't let my friend in because he was dressed way too casual. He will get in big trouble if he let him in. My friend had a pair of jeans and tennis shoe just likeeverybody else in that club. Since I already paid for my valet and my other friends are already in. I ask him can he make an exception. He said if we can give him few bucks and he can sneak us in. We have no choice and give him 20 bucks. We were so mad when we enter the club find out there in no such thing like "dress code". the whole night we spend over 400 dollar not including that 20 dolars we gave that dog. Overall, nice club, nice band and nice speaker system except that stupid dog at door.

WOW, what a great place to choose to ring in 2008, I was a bit hesitant because I usually don't like dowtown (I am more of a midtown gal) I was VERY happy with my decision to give it try. My friends all agree....best NYE we ever had!! Great cover band, in fact I hadn't realized it was a live band until I looked up at the stage, I thought the DJ was spinning, they also had great energy. I'm not sure if that was the usual band or just the NYE band, I hope they are always there. Lots of space to wander and meet new people.

The only con:for some reason we had to wait in line for a good 15mins when we were told that purchasing presale tix would avoid the lines, oh well :(

This place was just spectacular. From the lighting to the service, EVERYTHING was superb! The music was pumping, and HOT, they played a great mix of the good ol stuff and the new songs and hits; EVERYONE seemed to be having a blast, and there was a good mix of people there. The service was great, NO COMPLAINTS, and i'm hard to please. :)
I would definitely recommend it compared to Chrome, or LaStrada.

Pros: Service, Atmosphere, People, Music, THE BEST drinks!

for a year venue has been my favorite place in downtown. but the only probleme i had was the valet.(asswhoooles), but last wednsday it was an exeption, they were just amazing fast and helpful.

The place is just ok. But after all, if you go there it's your own decision. But when you get there, and you have to leave your car at the door with the valet parking people because finding parking in downtown is a complete nightmare, and you pay $10 to have someone parking your car, and also stealing your ipod from your car and then acting as if they thought you are completely stupid thinking you wouldn't realize, then there is something wrong. I don't know how or where the valet company (State Parking Services Inc.) recruits their people, but certainly they are not required to be honest. And since they disclaime that they are not responsible for what you leave in the car, they can get away with anything. Next time I will have to take EVERYTHING that is inside the car with me to the club so these "gentlemen" won't steal it.

At the end of the night, I asked for a detailed receipt showing my drinks and that's when I found out I was being charged for 2 xtra drinks for $16 and 18% gratuity already included. When you get your bill, there's no need to leave a tip since they are already charging you 18%! My suggestion is to Pay with CASH!
The bartenders were pretty quick with the drinks, but they seemed watered down. Also, I think there are way too many tables near the bar area, b/c you'll end up hovering over a $250/table everytime you want to order a drink. Overall, the club is hot! One of the best in Houston. The music was popping all night long (saturday). The crowd was great! The place was completely packed...shoulder to shoulder most of the night. I would recommend this spot to almost anyone.

I'm not sure when these other people have been to Venue? But EVERY time me and the girls go downtown to Venue, we have the BEST TIME EVER. We are always immediately recognized by the customer service friendly staff. There is always the best "vibe" going on. The band ROCKS!!!!! The DJ is awesome! It is the best looking club in Houston. I went (was coerced) to Venue several months ago and noticed an unpleasant smell the moment I enter the club. Wash the mops, people. Dirty mop odor is not condusive to good times.

I have read all of the reviews and have to disagree with some of them....especially the last one....Venue is bringing new life and much much nicer people to downtown!!....no flip flops, hello! it's a high-class club!!!...it's great to see well dressed and beautiful people at a club...and no, no special interest here but just wanted to share my experiences at Venue.....great service, drinks, music and PEOPLE!!!.....I've been there a couple of times and have cero complaints...Venue is the place to be on weekends.....plenty of seating space and although it gets crowded, there's always a place where you can sit and enjoy the view!!!!
We finally have a different club in Houston....

Reading some of the reviews, I can't help but think the people writing them have a special interest in the success of this club. We reserved a VIP section only to find we had to share it with 20+ other people. The waitress took over 30 minutes to deliver drinks, and drink prices varied depending on who was taking your order. I went to the bar and found the same order cost an extra $2. I tried using a different waitress only to find her just as rude. Not only did she give me attitude when I gave her a drink order, but she never returned my receipt for my credit card. I found out later that she helped herself to an $11 tip and the bank says I cannot do anything about because she wouldn't give me a receipt. As for the seating, there is plenty. So much that you cannot walk. The small dance floor is further hindered by more seating. A trip to the restroom 20 yards away will take 20 minutes. Overall, I will not return to this club for any reason. If I am on fire and they have the only fire extinguisher, I will die happy.

I have tried to go to this club a couple of times, but was refused entry because of flip-flop sandals on my boyfriend. We went back, and I had on tennis shoes, once again... No entry. The attitude of Houston bars and clubs never fails to amaze me. This is a laid-back town, where does it come from? You should be able to go out in what makes you comfortable. When we finally got in, it was not worth the wait. Average music, not the best drinks (but cheap comparably) and an okay crowd.

I've been a couple of times since a friend knows an employee, and a few complaints - this place is always FREEEZING. Drink prices aren't bad at all, but most the seating is reserved, and the music is questionable. Not exactly the hottest/freshest out there. I don't really want to dance to a techno version of "I Will Always Love You." To top it off, the DJing was interrupted several times for some sucky live band to come out. Sort of changed the mood of the club. And this was on a Saturday night! I don't know where the good-looking guys in Houston are going, but they don't seem to be going to Venue. This place has a lot of potential, IF they bring in some hot DJ talent, open up the seating and stop with the weird live music.

Drinks were awesome and so was the service. It's a great place to dance and kick-back with friends. The live music brings a great touch to the atmosphere, however, some songs played by the band were not quite right for a club. None the less, its a nice place...clean(plenty of toilet paper) and a lot of eye candy!

Venue has it all. The first time I walked into Venue I had the pleasure of meeting Larry(a manager there)he always makes sure my party and I have an exceptional time.
Let me say-I always have a brutal good time here! The drinks are alittle pricey- Granted, it is Downtown Houston... There are a surplus amount of chairs and or couches- perfect for resting your feet. On the music concerns... just drop a hint to the DJ. This place is so vast! Perfect for large groups & PERFECT for bdays! I just celebrated my bday here- couldn't have made a better choice. Venue is beautiful! If I were you--I wounld definitely give it a try. To those complaints- RELAX --take a shot...and enjoy the night!

Ok spot. My only complaint is the whole place is very gimmicky in a cheesy way, but yet somehow halfassed. The gimic of course is the live band there and it was cool to have a band playing clubby sort of music, but they played like 4 songs. The DJ's music selection was poor. Service was great, but drinks were priced way too high for a bar in Houston. Decor was pretty cool though. However, the doormen let anyone in the door so I see that place going the way of many other clubs on Main Street in less than 6 months.

I absolutely loved this place....the music was perfect, great mix of new and old....Venue is the place to be on weekends AND when they have their THEME PARTIES, the latest being Studio 54, you can enjoy amazing music of that time, get to put on a costume and have lots of fun!!
Great place to have your bday bash, bachelorette or any other event, I've seen a couple and the staff makes an effort to make of your event a successful one.
Live music gives you the chance to rest from dancing and enjoy today's hits.
Beautiful people!!!!!

Venue was a recommended place to celebrate my birthday party. We loved it. The management arranged for us to have a VIP room, where our guests were comfortable. The music was good. I enjoyed the mix of new and old dance hits. The band, played good music, but the singers were not always in tune. The short dance performances were also fun. We had great service and their Dirty Martini was consistantly one of the best. It did get a little crowded, and the dancefloor is not the smoothest to dance on. However, I am going back to this place, and I will definitely plan my hubby's party there. It is one classy, large, and unique place to go to on a Saturday night.

VENUE is one classy spot, it has an outstanding stage with live music and dancers like nowhere else in Houston. The people who work there are friendly and keep you glass full. You don't have to flag someone down to get a drink, someone is always there when you need them. The music and entertainment is hands down the best around. The decor and light shows outstanding. Friday nights are by far the better night to go. Try it, you will not be disappointed.

If your into takeovers of epic proportions come to this club!!! It started out great and turned bad in the blink of an eye!!! Sooo over crowded and they will let anything that walks in the doors! What a shame it could have been as good as a hip Miami club but they went down hard in the first round. To many other great places to go! You could not pay me to go back there!!

Houston finally has a first-class club that can compete with any club in the US and Europe.Fine decor, excellent music, amazing dancers and prettiest people make of Venue the hottest place in town.
During the week, you can book sections at the club for after work drinks or even to work and drink :) which is a plus....
The staff is G R E A T !! ... they always make you feel like you are the best customer ....

I can now stop looking for a place to be treated as the best customer in the world. Venue has the best of the best: DJs, live music, service, waitresses, ambience, layout, good-looking people, etc.

I decided to become a VIP member and don't regret it; every time I go I have VIP access, VIP seating, VIP parking, VIP service...it is really worth it.

If you want to see and be seen by the best looking crowd in town, you have to go there.
Venue can easily compete with the best European and Mexican clubs.

And talking about the place, I will put it simple: there isn't a prettier club in Houston.

I was lucky enough to attend opening night and I must say, this is the HOTTEST PLACE IN TOWN!! The music is a nice mix of old and new, there is live entertainment, and the atmosphere is spectacular! This is definatley a place for the more refined crowed.

The service is excellent and the drinks are perfect. All in all, I am completely reccomending Venue to all who are looking for an upscale after-work til-the-break-of-dawn locale.

The editorial profile is 100% accurate and I love this place!
