Our family has been receiving massages from Luata for over 10 years. Luata is knowledgeable on how to work with your body. General release of tension or working on a specific area. In our case weekend warrior sports that require retuning the muscles every now and then. A really reasonable price for a professional massage.

If you're looking for a massage therapist and feeling overwhelmed by all the choices, you can stop your search and call Luata. Don't look anywhere else. Seriously. In the past, I've had some good, even some great, massages, but Luata is the only person I've found who combines amazing, genuine healing personality with an outstanding knowledge of physiology. I found her web page because I specifically wanted an orthopedic massage. I tend to have little patience with massages that are entirely woo-woo and New Agey and all about "channelling energetics" and so on. I need some science behind my massage. And Luata has it in buckets. But.... she also does the spiritual thing. And it doesn't feel put-on. I'm the kind of person who never thought I would use words like "healing energy" in a sentence. But Luata is a life force, a true healer, a big soul who melts the most sceptical hearts. And knows her stuff better than many ortho MDs.
Pros: Gentle healing energy. Incredible professional knowledge.
Cons: None at all.

A True Healer
by RooseveltResident
It is wonderful to have Luata back in Seattle?s Roosevelt Neighborhood! If you have not met her or tried out her licensed massage services, you owe it to yourself to do so. Luata has several decades of professional experience, an extensive background in clinical therapeutic massage, and a delightful personality. I first met Luata about nine years ago, when I was referred to her to help with treatment for painful accident injuries. I had never been to a massage practitioner before, but my concerns were quickly put to rest when I realized the depth of her knowledge of the muscular system and her dedicated professionalism. She helped me heal?it was amazing to me what she could accomplish as part of my medical treatment. Luata is a healer. During the following years, I have continued to return to Luata, not only for care with subsequent medical issues, but also on my own for regular ?tune-ups,? which help remarkably with chronic pain relief and with relaxation. Luata gives excellent explanations of muscular treatments, and she has also shown me useful exercises that improve my everyday life. I will continue to use and benefit from Luata?s outstanding services, and strongly urge others to set up an appointment with her. She is truly outstanding!
Pros: outstanding professional service
Cons: none

No More Pain!
by lindamorud
In only 5 visits, Luata has helped me get rid of acute lower back pain that would not respond to medications. She uses her knowledge of the body, and how it is supposed to work, to rapidly identify the problem areas, and gets to work fixing them to get you back to where you should be as quickly as possible. She is always a delight, is very personable and professional, and has a great "table-side" manner. Even though my most serious pain is gone, I will continue to see her for regular tune-ups.
Pros: Friendly, professional, and knows how to fix your pains
Cons: None

Very knowledgeable, professional and experienced massage therapist in Seattle
by sakurajapanesebistro
I went to see Luata Bray after reading the glowing reviews on Citysearch, and all the reviews were correct. The first thing I noticed about Luata is her expert clinical knowledge of her craft. Her clinical assessment skills of my chronic shoulder and neck pain was remarkable. I work as a ICU nurse, and have had chronic shoulder and neck pain for the past two years. As soon as I met her and she began to work on me, I felt that I had found the right professional to help me with my pain and help me to heal and feel better. She is truly an expert clinician, and I am so glad I found her to help me with my chronic pain issues.
Pros: Professional, caring therapist, convenient hours (website- appointment) and parking
Cons: None

Healing Hands
by suecotner
My Physiatrist referred me to Luata for massage and treatment of my chronic pain issues. What I appreciate most about her is that she takes the time to examine me through her postural assessment based on her extensive knowledge of the body. She focused on increasing circulation and helping my muscles to relax. As a nurse, I know that I am in the hands of a healer. As someone in pain, I know that her skill will bring me alot of relief.
Pros: Professional, friendly, puts me at ease

Experience a wonderful and relaxing massage.
by dixjo
My 89 year old mother and I have been going to Luata for several years and we both receive many benefits beyond the wonderful and relaxing massages that we have on a monthly basis. My mother broke her hip several years ago and does experience lower back pain which is relieved after a massage. I have experienced tension headaches which are relieved by the knowledgeable and expert massage techniques that Luata uses. What is wonderful is that Luata is able to give both of us the level of massage that is needed. Working on the elderly requires special techniques and I am thankful that Luata is able to give my mother a massage that is relaxing and therapeutic. Our monthly massage is something we both look forward to.
Pros: Knowlegeable and experienced

Healing Hands

My husband and I were in an auto accident in August, and I called Luata Bray immediately because of a previous auto accident we had, several years before. There was no doubt in my mind that she would be able to heal my injuriers as she had previously. She has healing abilities, I cannot say enough about her skills.

Best Masseuse
by grandmaruth
I was referred to Luata by my chiropractor after a motor vehicle accident. I asked how important it was for me to have massage and he said it was essential. I have a long history of severe headaches and neck pain. Luata said I had one of the tightest necks she had ever worked on. I am much improved and look forward to my monthly maintenance massage. Luata is exceptionally knowledgeable and skilled. I am amazed at the strenth in her hands. She is very kind and attentive to my comfort. I love the dim lights, soft music and warmth of the table. I highly recommend her to anyone who is seeking relief of muscle/joint pain and/or stress.
Pros: Preventive self care - physically, mentally and emotionally
Cons: None

Great knowledge and experience
by tpar
Luata has improved my quality of life by addressing a variety of physical problems I have had for many years. I have gone to other massage therapists, but always had to choose just one area to focus on at a time. Luata is able to attend to multiple problems all in one session. I think this is because of her years of experience and depth of knowledge. She has helped reduce or eliminate my migraines, knee pain, TMJ and overall muscle pain and tightness. I would highly recommend her, especially to those who have tried massage therapy before, but were disappointed. Not only is she a great therapist her office is peaceful, relaxing and filled with a happy spirit.

Seattle's Best LMP
by katyhutch
Luata Bray has been my massage practitioner for over 5 years. She is a natural, intuitive and very gifted healer who is highly professional. Her evaluations are in depth and extremely thorough. I have had chronic back and neck pain for over 20 years and have had many body workers and massage practitioners work on me. Luata has been the most helpful for me. She is honest and direct, open and curious, warm and caring. She has a wonderful sense of humor and I always feel well taken care of and healed on so many levels after my sessions with her. I so appreciate the work she does.
She has my highest recommendation. She is the BEST!

A therapeutic massage
by viaaustin
Luata is a Seattle treasure. I first went to her shortly after throwing out my back four years ago and have continued with monthly maintenance ever since. She understands my body better than I do, pointing out the reasons behind my aches and pains and suggesting stretches, exercises and ergonomics to help make them go away. She doesn't just treat symptoms, she treats the individual client. She helped me get to the core reasons behind my persistent migraine headaches not only through her expert evaluation and massage, but also by referring me to an acupuncturist whose treatment complemented Luata's good work. When I started with Luata, it hurt whenever she touched me and she always understood and respected my pain threshold. Now I'm much healthier, and the massages are as relaxing as they are rejuvenating. And she knows what I like (scalp massage, Nerali oil). Bottom line: I look forward to seeing Luata each month -- not just for the massage, but for the holistic experience of sharing a hour and 15 minutes with her. She is a caring, smart, interesting person -- an amazing massage therapist and a trusted professional.

Super Massage Therapist
by joanneolsen
I have been going to Luata for massage regularly for the past several years, ever since she began treating me for neck and back pain. As I got better I realized that massage was key to maintaining my health, and I decided to stay with Luata for her combination of expertise, warmth and passion for healing. She is extremely knowlegable and a willing teacher and I have enjoyed learning from her all these years! She will always go the extra mile to take care of you. A bonus is that a chiropractor shares her office, if you need to combine the two. I was very lucky to find Luata, and I highly recommend her.

Wonderful massage therapist!
by awilliamsderry
Luata rescued me from chronic pain 6 years ago and has been a source of relaxation, comfort, and occasional injury relief ever since. She was fabulous with frequent massage for acute issues, and also excellent now for my occasional stress-relief needs. She stays up with all the latest techniques, and balances it with true compassion, warmth, and a reality-based understanding of modern life and how the body works. She gives me great tips on stretches, and a massage with Luata is truly a relaxing and learning experience.
I highly recommend her services. Convenient evening and weekend hours are available in her professional offices.
Pros: relaxing office environment, professional, compassionate, flexible scheduling
Cons: none

The air is light, the music is soft and the electric bed is warm. Luata the massage therapist has magical hands. After many massages in the Seattle area I found Luata to be the best. After old sports injuries, my last auto accident, AND I sit at a desk all day, my neck, shoulders, and low back would hurt, ache, burn and be stiff here and there~ sometimes all at once. After working with Luata I never felt this good in years. She is very knowledgeable and experience and it shows. I am thankful to her as she is truly the best of the best.

Excellent healing and restorative massage
by rjcrichton
I went to Luata initially four years ago for chronic back and shoulder pain. Since then, I have continued to see her monthly and always experience both relief for the ongoing tightness and tension in my neck and a sense of overall relaxation. Luata is extremely knowlegeable about body mechanics as well as intuitive about what needs attention in any given session. The relaxing and healing environment she has created enhance the excellent massage she gives. Her state-of-the-art massage table has the capability of bending to allow stretching and deeper upper and lower back massage. I enjoy her warm personality and her genuine interest in my well being and healing. I heartily recommend her for anybody who needs either a therapeutic or a relaxing massage.
Pros: Knowlege of variety of massage techniques, healing atmosphere

Outstanding orthopedic therapeutic medical massage therapist (MD recommendation)
by psychewa
As a physician, I have the opportunity to refer patients to Luata Bray for Therapeutic Orthopedic Massage. I do so because, in my experience, she is outstanding in her subdiscipline. I can attest to that also as
a patient who had a previous neck injury: I have received Therapeutic Orthopedic Massage from her for about seven years. She is remarkable in her skill, insightful and extremely knowledgeable in anatomy. Luata is able to use her common sense, intuitive feel, and creative skills to improve her patients. She is motivated, kind, punctual and always appropriate?a true healer! Moreover, she is a preferred provider for certain insurances. I strongly recommend Luata Bray for medical Therapeutic Orthopedic Massage.

Clinical Magician

After seeing Luata, I've never felt better! She is extremely thorough and she's unlike any massage therapist I've worked with. The depth of her experience as a holistic healer coupled with her clinical knowledge and genuine curiousity in your condition makes her one of a kind! I've had care with different therapists in the past and have rarely gotten the results that I've seen now that I'm under Luata's care.

Excellent, expert care

I had a shoulder injury which I had had worked on for several months and it was still a major issue for me. Luata's approach was thorough, clinically expert and caring. I was ready to return to backpacking by summer. Luata is an excellent massge therapist -- she combines massage with a deep understanding of how bodies work so a resolution of your problem is inevitable. She's also a wonderful person with a good sense of humor and love of life so time spent with her is not only rehabilitating but fun.

Compassionate Massage Therapy
by jankathi
Following a motor vehicle accident in 1996, I was referred to Luata for massage therapy for low back and neck injuries. Never having had massage therapy before, I was a bit apprehensive, but found Luatas treatment to be sensitive and perceptive. Thank you, Luata, for your help then and for continuing to be an important part of my health care.

best massage
by fgcdragon
I just had my 3rd knee surgery and I wouldn't be able to work if I didn't see Luata and her miraculous hands and techniques. I first got massage therapy after an auto accident when my doctor recommended it when other therapies were not working. I had so much neck and shoulder pain and constant headaches. I've seen a number of other LMTs but once I found Luata, that was it. Each session, she deals with what is going on in my body right then. I have been under her care off and on for over 15 years because she continues to seek new techniques to help her clients/patients. She is very client focused. Since 1992, she has seen me through several auto accidents and surgeries and been a key reason for my recovery and continued improved health. My job is very physical (I am on my feet and walking for most of 8-12 hours each shift) and I would not be able to continue working as I want to if not for Luata's help. After the accident when I was in my 20's it took 2 years but I recovered. After the accident in my 30's it took 3 years and I mostly recovered. After the accident in my 40's, I need more regular therapy but I can continue to do the things I want like walking on beaches. Now in my 50's my body has knee problems and arthritis in the joints that were injured in previous accidents. Luata knows ways to keep my body stretched out and working for me. I am so thankful for her help.
Pros: educated on newest techniques
