The owner is great. We took our car there for transmission work, and he was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and my wife was very comfortable with the service and the explanation of the work that was done.

On the strength of that experience, I took my truck for some routine service -- the check engine light came on, common for a Ford, a simple "take a look at the code, turn it off if it doesn't make sense." I left my key in the dropbox of the attached business, as I was instructed.

Long story short: they lost my key, didn't acknowledge losing my key for a couple of days, had the vehicle towed to a dealer (eventually) to get a new key made, and never did check the engine light -- and I was without the truck for a week.

So. One extremely good experience, one very poor experience. Your mileage may vary. I believe that the owner is committed to delivering great service, but his staff is not always able to follow through with his good intentions.

Thank you Greg Greg. I would like to thank you for taking the time to write your review. I would also like to apologize again for the mishap with the Keys. At the time, we were sharing a drop box with he business next door as you stated. For what ever reason, we never received a key or an envelope from the business next door, in fact, we did not even know the vehicle was for us. After seeing the vehicle parked for a couple days, we asked the business next door if they knew anything about the vehicle and they said it was not theirs, that is when we called to find out where you had left the keys. When we found out you had left it in the drop box next door, we immediately offered to replace the keys at our expense. I asked you after the keys had been replaced if you would still want us to check your check engine light and my recollection is that you did not want us doing that, so we gave you your vehicle back. This is the first and last time such a thing has happened at my shop and I am terribly sorry you had to go through such an experience. Cons: So expensive, 2 hours to inspect and 4 to fix, not friendly customer service, waiting area is not comfortable..

My transmission died and I thought real hard about buying a new car. I could not afford a new car note so I took a chance on Aamco Durham (the one near RTP). My pockets are happy I made the decision to go there. My car is now running well and the transmission work was quite affordable. I now take my car there for all car maintenance work.

I chose Aamco to have my car fixed. It was jerking upon acceleration. The transmission needed to be rebuilt for $2,900. It took forever and it wasn't fixed. He said it needed to break in. I took it back to fix it right. They took the car and said it was a bad part. Then they were waiting on transmission fluid. When I got it back, it was still doing it!!! He again said it needed to break in. I told him that was what he said before and he admitted he didn't know what was wrong with it. I took it to VW. The wrong transmission fluid was put in it ruined it. I need to put a whole new one in but it's cost me $4,300.

Sorry for the misunderstanding This vehicle was brought in due to transmission problems. After we rebuilt the transmission, I informed the customer that with VW's it is common that the transmission computer needs to be replaced after a rebuild. The transmission worked fine at the shop and when I took the customer on a test drive. I informed the customer that we may needed to reprogram or replace the Transmission Control Computer though. He called back about a week later complaining that the vehicle was not working correctly and he had taken it to the VW dealer and demanded a refund of his money. I asked to see the vehicle but he refused. I refunded his money. He said the VW dealer told him we used the wrong transmission fluid. I called him into my shop and gave him copies of the invoice from the VW dealer showing that we had ordered the transmission fluid from VW and that it was the correct fluid. I am saddened that the customer is unhappy with the service he received at my shop, I was willing to do whatever it takes to correct any problems including providing a rental car at my expense, refunding all his money, extending his warranty, or doing what ever else the customer needed.
