A knowledgeable salesman at Columbia roofing quoted me, by phone, for a basic roof (1 story, no corners, easy access). Less than a week later, when they came to give a written agreement and install, the price went up 235% (not because it was more difficult than they thought they didn't even look at the back of the house, or use a measuring tape to come up with the new price; nothing had changed, maybe the salesman was just having a bad day?). I lost two hours of time from work, and now have to find someone else, or do it myself. I guess I should have listened to my instinct (hang up, call someone else) the first time I called and the receptionist cursed into the phone (not at me) after they thought I was on hold. I believe the installation team was competent, but I would recommend making them drive by the house on their own, write a quote, and put it in your front door (for you to look at at your convenience). Don't waste your time in person with them until you have something in writing.
