Carrie is a great therapist! She is warm and attentive, she really cares about her clients, and her understanding of the body is impressive. She's really tying it together for me: stellar bodywork that is healing old, chronic issues in my neck and back while educating me about what is happening and how to support my health with stretches at home. Her Swedish/deep tissue massage is relaxing and perfectly deep and gentle in all the right places, and her Thai massage rocks my world! That is the thing to really work out the kinks.. no other treatment has been as effective in resolving my back pain. I want to try her private sessions for stretching and keep working on my flexibility!
Pros: excellant massage and focused care
Cons: I just wish AG was next door :)
Tiana has a very focused and intuitive approach. She gave me an excellent deep tissue massage that released the muscular tension in my back and shoulders. Not only that, but the session was so extraordinarily relaxing that I fell asleep. I definitely recommend getting massage from her!
Pros: Focused and Intuitive
Well here's my story: I have a long history of lower back pain which led to a lot of lost sleep. I tried a lot of things from medication to physical therapy and also massages. The medication made feel dizzy and physical therapy was too stressful for me. Massages really didn't help at all - until I found Tiana at AG Massage. I have had only three massage sessions so far but I am already getting better sleep and my lower back feels much better compared to how it felt two months ago. I don't know how she does it but Tiana is certainly very knowledgeable in her field. I hope she stays in Portland. Thanks AG Massage !
Pros: very competent service - Very effective !
Cons: I hope Tiana stays in PDX
Wow, wow, wow. I have had low back and sciatic pain for several years and tried lots of massage therapists but never seemed to find lasting relief. Muse was able to get in there and really make a difference. I walked out feeling like a new person and in the two weeks since I've been in I've continued to feel great. I sent a good friend and she had very positive results too. Next time I will try her Thai massage.
Pros: amazing treatment for sciatica and low back
Cons: she is moving in a few months!
Meghan is a most skillful therapist. There is no waste of time or money in her work and what you get for it. At the same time she is sensitive to one's soreness and takes the time to relieve it. Can't be beat.
Pros: Locates the tight spots quickly
Cons: Never have enough
Meghan gave me the best massage I have ever had. She found all the right places and had my very sore and tense body totally relaxed. She went from very deep massage on the sore muscles to a gentle and soothingly relaxed massage all over. I went home feeling like a new person.
Pros: Best massage ever
Cons: None
Meghan's hands are able to get into the deep tight muscles I so regularly have! I feel safe and cared for and walk away on a cloud!
Pros: Feel safe
Cons: I don't make enough time for more of them
Just had my second massage with Meghan, and I'd definitely recommend her and AGmassage to my friends and family. Meghan is a gifted massage therapist who listens and responds with the most healing massage. She is super attentive and offers useful advice for self-healing and maintenance. AGmassage is located in Chinatown which could be sketchy but their street is not. You have to get buzzed into the building, so it feels safe; it's clean and comfortable all around. The decor of the reception area and massage room is simple and tastefully done and has a spa-like, peaceful quality, including the music. After my massage, I felt as if I was floating and all the tension I brought with me had totally melted away.
Pros: Clean; location; consistent, quality massage
Cons: None
My monthly massage with AG is a lifesaver. I have worked with two of the staff so far, and both have responded directly to my stated needs, and sent me away newly aligned and awakened. I could say it is a treat to climb those stairs to AG, but instead I will offer this: I climb those stairs knowing I'll find at the top someone who cares.
Pros: professionalism, ambience, personalized
Cons: the stairs!
I have been seeing Muse every month and she is helping me learn so much about my body! I've never gotten any acupuncture or anything but I've gotten lots of massage and this style is very unique. I have gotten table and Thai massage from her and both are great. Sometimes her pressure is so gentle, but I can feel very strong sensations, which she tells me is common with acupressure. When she is doing more deep tissue work she finds just the right depth that opens everything up, but isn't too much. She asks very good questions and always has thoughtful answers for mine. These sessions have improved my digestion, my mental clarity, and my flexibility. Highly recommended!
Pros: price, location
Cons: street parking can be a block away
I have been going to AG for over two years. No matter what part is tweaked at the moment, they seem to know how to make it feel better
Pros: They know how to help sore muscles
Cons: I wish I could go every week.
I've had several massages from Meg Gallagher and have been thoroughly pleased each time. I have a back/neck/jaw injury that causes me a lot of pain, and it's been difficult to find a massage therapist that can help make progress with my pain/mobility issues without ever aggravating my symptoms. It's really difficult to find someone who knows how to listen to an injured body, find the areas that need the most work, facilitate verbal communication and check in about pressure, etc. Meg is clearly a gifted healer. She has just the right gentle touch to put my muscles at ease so that she can work deeper into the tissues and make lasting changes that actually help me make progress with my healing, rather than just offering temporary relief. I am so glad to have found her!
Pros: Example: best croissants in town
Cons: What are the drawbacks?
I've had multiple massages from Meg Gallagher at AG Massage and I have left every session feeling worlds more relaxed and centered in my body than before. Whether I needed some intense deep work on my shoulders and back, or just a nice relaxing massage on my arms and face, Meg's hands could accommodate my needs like a true healer. Her knowledge of the body and it's inner-workings is apparent as she always moves things around in just the right way. I highly recommend her cranial sacral work, it's absolutely magic!
Pros: Quiet studio w/good lighting; Variety of massage styles.
Cons: None.
I've been getting massage from Alison for over 10 years and I've never found anyone better. Any time I've had a massage at a more expensive spa (for friend birthdays or other group activities), I always wish I could have just booked 2 visits with Alison for the waste of $$ I had spent on other therapists with less skill.
I recommend pre-natal massage (she has been wonderful through both my pregnancies) and just overall relaxation massage. Book an appointment - you won't be disappointed.
Pros: Comfortable environment, calm demeanor, professional
I have had massages from Alison, Meghan, and Muse. They each have their own style and all deliver fabulous massage. One visit I wanted a relaxing massage; another time I needed help with an achy hip; another time I needed tension diffused. Each time the therapist tailored the massage to my needs of the day. I really appreciate that, as other massage therapists may have a routine they repeat each visit. These women listen to your needs and design an experience you will certainly appreciate.
I also love the quiet, understated ambience in the office, and the cool historic building which houses AG.
Pros: experienced, effective massage therapists
Cons: none
I've been going to AG Massage since the Summer of 2005. At that time, I was having lots of problems with my IT band and was training for a marathon. I went to Alison multiple times that summer which I credit for part of the reason that I PR'ed in both a marathon and a half-marathon that fall. Since that time, I've been a regular and I've seen both Megan and Meg as well and always have had an outstanding experience.
I've had appointments with both Alison and Megan at AGMassage, and I am consistently amazed at the way I feel after I leave a session with either one of them. Their skilled, obviously experienced, and responsive-to-my-needs-and-wishes approach melts away the tension in my back and shoulders. I leave feeling like I can breathe more deeply because so much that was constricted has been released. Massage with them is a very gentle yet powerfully healing and relaxing experience. They probably could charge more for working such magic, but I am glad they don't!
Pros: best massage I've ever had
Cons: book in advance - they fill up quickly
Meg is an excellent massage therapist, someone who immediately puts you at ease enough to relax and get the most out of your session.
Highly recommended!
my massage with muse was like a gentle integration of all the fragmented parts of me. she is kind, tender, yet firm and is clear and present while she works with me. she does exceptional work!
Pros: gentle yet firm, aware
I just had my second appointment at AG Massage (this time with Meghan) and came away more relaxed than I've been in months. It's amazing how she managed to work so effectively on my shoulder, which hasn't felt right since i wrenched it over 6 months ago, and still put me to sleep. There's a certain talent involved in doing good, therapeutic work and still giving a very relaxing massage. I'm impressed.
Pros: therapeutic AND relaxing
Cons: none
I've had many massages over the last several years and have become rather picky about the work I receive. I've been to AG Massage several times now and can't see myself going anywhere else. Alison, Meghan and now Muse have all done exceptional work with me and my aching back. It's so refreshing to feel that I can trust my therapist to communicate with me regarding pressure changes from one part of my body to the other. My legs are always more sensitive than my back, for instance. I'll go back again and again and I recommend that you do the same.
I had a massage with Muse at AGmassage this week and it was exceptional. Their reviews all seemed good so I expected a good massage, but it was definitely better than good. I appreciated her ability to communicate regarding pressure and comfort, but she wasn't gabbing or intrusive and I was able to relax and unwind. I want to try her Thai massage next time. The vibe was very nice too. I would recommend AGmassage because they are very friendly, the massage work was fantastic, and their prices are better than most.
I always get such high quality massages at AG massage. I wanted to let everyone know because I think they deserve some credit for having such skilled LMT's and great customer service. There's nothing worse than throwing good money away on mediocre massages! It's great that no matter who I've seen I've always had an exceptionally relaxing, therapeutic massage.
Pros: massage work, convenient location, affordable
Cons: none
I've had regular massage for 20 years and I have not had a better massage than the one I had today with Meghan Clark. If I lived in Portland I believe AG massage would be my second home! Excellent massage work, not hurried, tentative, good strength and sensitive touch. I really appreciated her sincere and genuine desire to do a great job, which is exactly what she did. Great rates, nice office.
Pros: nice space, excellent work/service
Cons: none
I have been lucky enough to have had Alison as my massage therapist for years! The best phrase to describe the experience is "total package". Alison combines technical expertise with a warm and caring personality. The setting is warm and inviting and I don't even have problems with parking! I have recommended Alison to many friends over the years and they all thank me for it! My brother who lives out of state makes an appt. with Meghan when he comes to town. Overall AG Massage is the best and I thank you for your dedication to your business and profession!!
Pros: the best
Cons: none
I'm thrilled to have found AGmassage. Meghan Clark is a great LMT. I always look for a massage therapist who has the ability to adjust pressure depending on how my body is responding. Some therapists don't have the ability to sense what the perfect pressure is, but Meghan does. She is so sensitive I practically fall asleep. She combines strength, skill, and that natural touch for an exquisite massage. Very highly recommended.
Pros: excellent massage, soothing environment, great value
Cons: none
Sometimes you don't realize how much a massage can do for you. My massage yesterday made me feel like a new person! Thank you Alison. I will definitely be returning to AGmassage for more massage. When you have massage work that good, you wonder how you ever lived without it. Obviously, I highly recommend this place.
Pros: super work, friendly service
Cons: none
So far I've seen Andy Hahn and Meghan Clark and now I have AGmassage on speed dial. I love that it doesn't matter what LMT I get and I still get amazing massage and bodywork. They accommodate my crazy schedule and give superb customer service. Their space is great and just the vibe in general is down to earth but still very professional. The price is right too....
Pros: everything
Cons: nothing
Wow.
I've experienced "it's a miracle! I'm healed!" a few times at AG Massage. I have chronic back and neck pain. What makes Alison Gaylor so effective at what she does is a number of things. Her technique to pinpoint the problem (usually not where you think it is) illustrates her expertise. Her ability to gauge pressure so you feel sufficiently worked but not overworked illustrates her skill. Her demeanor, the setting, and her sense of focus round out the experience as truly therapeutic and effective. Allison cares about each and every individual and it shows in her work. Highly Recommended!
Pros: Location, skill, customer service
Cons: calendar fills quickly
My experiences at AGmassage have been wonderful! I love things that smell nice, luxurious lotions, scrubs, and British acccents, but they don't take the place of a truly great massage. The atmosphere is great, and they have nice music, candles, fountains, etc..., but the massage work is what brings me back. I feel like I've been on vacation after a session! Rates are fantastic.
Pros: they don't skimp on time or quality
Cons: none
I don't normally write reviews, but I felt this was worth sharing since it might have helped me out. I've been looking for excellent massage work in Portland, but since I moved here last year I have had a number of sub-par massages, which can be really disappointing. I've gone to AGmassage the past few months and I can't tell you how amazing their work is. I've seen both Alison and Meghan and both are hands-down-no-contest the best massage therapists I've ever been to. In short, you won't be disappointed. The atmosphere is relaxing, clean, and cozy. The therapists are on time and very professional, knowledgeable, and nice. The rates are great.
Pros: excellent massage work
Cons: none
I cannot recommend AG Massage enough to the Portland public. I have experienced massage treatment from both Alison, owner of AG Massage, and Meghan. Both of these massage therapists have impressed me with their skill, knowledge of the body, ability to customize their massage based on my needs and medical history, and desire to create a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. As an orthopedic physical therapist myself, I have long sought out a massage therapist with experience and knowledge that would make me feel safe in referring patients with varying diagnoses. Now, by finding AG Massage, I feel I have found two massage therapists I wouldn't hesitating on sending any patients to. These massage therapists take pride in their work, and both seek out life-long learning in their field to continue to advance their skills in order to provide the best service to their clients. Thank you Alison for bringing AG Massage to Portland! It's so great to have a massage therapist I can trust to refer patients to in the future.
Sincerely,
Cathleen King, DPT

Pros: Value for your time and money, great atmosphere for relaxation and healing
Cons: none
I loved this place! Peaceful and quiet, nice and comfy. And I got a great massage from Andy. He was very nice and used JUST the right amount of pressure for me. All around, a very lovely experience!
Pros: Great massage, quiet location.
Cons: Parking downtown does not equal zen
Andy came highly recommended, so it was no surprise that his skill in rolfing and massage were beyond any experience I've had at other sites around town. Wherever there was a spot of soreness Andy intuitively knew how to find it and get to it. What I really appreciate is his ability to assess the body mechanics of the problem that may be causing the pain. He treats the cause. I truly got the sense that each week my posture began to open up and my confidence and energy improved. He is able to get to the deep spots, and that is hard to do on a 205lb athletic guy like me. It was always a relaxing experience, but the benefits continue even when your off the table. Thank you!
Pros: Andy is available on weekends (sundays)
I went to AG Massage after a friend recommended going cause I was having some neck issues (I have had a series of neck and back problems most of my life, so I have been to a lot of massage therapists and chiropractors) so I made an appointment with Meghan Clark and found myself truly amazed by how comfortable she made me feel, specifically asking what I needed from her, and focusing solely on what I wanted! It was the first time I have ever fallen asleep at a massage! It was also the first time I have ever had someone give me the exact amount of pressure I wanted and the next day I felt 100 times better, not worse, like most massages make me feel when i have a "problem area" I need fixed. It's been a couple months and I am already saving up the money to go back... l'm addicted now! She's the best!
Pros: Meghan Clark is truly professional and makes you feel very comfortable, giving you exactly the type of massage you want.
Cons: It's a small office
Are wonderful. There is something about the pressure she applies and the techniques she uses to keep her movements so smooth! I always leave feeling like I've lost years of stress. Usually I ask her to focus on my back but she has amazing moves on my neck hands too. I will always be a faithful customer of hers and a fan of massage thanks to her.
Man, I gotta tell you.
I've had my fair share of massages, but I received a massage from Arti Boyd at AG and it was, overall, probably the best massage I've ever received. I truly cannot recommend his work highly enough; its like a little slice of heaven. . .
I loved the massage I recently received from Arti Boyd! He has a wonderful ability to blend therapeutic and relaxation techniques. Its nice to leave a massage feeling relaxed as well as intelligently cared for. If you enjoy fluidity and grace in your massage I highly recommend Arti!
Pros: peaceful space
As a massage therapist of eight years, I find myself particular about who I go to for bodywork. Andy Hahn is the most amazing rolfer and massage therapist I have yet to discover in this fine city. More than a massage, Andy's techniques include an integrated style of deep tissue, myofascial, and rolfing. The thing I enjoy most is the fact that his work lasts longer than just a few days; it is effective at getting to the source of pain and dysfunction rather than just treating the symptoms. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for a great therapist. Not to mention, he is one of the nicest and most caring people I have ever met.
AGmassage is the best! I have had 1hr and 90min massages with both Andy and Allison. As a fellow LMT I have had many massages, but I can honestly say that they are the best in portland. Wheter you want pure relaxation, deeper work or rolfing this is the place to be. Their skill level, proffessionalism and dedication surpasses any spa experience I have ever had. The atmosphere is warm and peaceful, Agmassage provides unrivaled services from dedicated, attentive and caring therapists!!!
Pros: parking, price, service
Andy gives an excellent massage! He has a knack for honing in on problem spots and working them into submission. Whether it's a relaxing massage or deeper structural work like Rolfing, I give Andy the highest recommendation. He is also incredibly professional and will make any client feel comfortable.
Andy has super strong hands but is never too hard. Its uncanny how he can find the problem spots. I also got a set of ten rolfing sessions. The best investment I ever made.
Charlie
I had my first rolfing experience with Andy. He was so great, put me at ease and made me feel comfortable. He really knows what he's doing. Overall fantastic experience!
I got a massage this week for the first time from a male massage therapist. I used to have a preference for females, but after this massage (with Arti) I no longer have a gender preference. I was surpised at how comfortable Arti made me feel with his friendly and nurturing, and professional disposition. His massage techniques and sense of touch were refined and sensitive and he has good strength too. He worked on my upper back better than any other LMT has. I'm happy to recommend his work, especially to any females, or males for that matter, that have a gender hang up!
Pros: Excellent massage, atmosphere, value
Cons: none
i have to comment on the amazingly conscientious care you receive at AGmassage. every time i visit for an appointment i feel completely heard and continuously receive excellent massages. each time is just right for what i'm needing on that particular day.
a cut above the rest for sure. all around a totally satisfying experience.
thanks, and keep up the strong work.
Pros: getting the massage YOU want
Cons: none
I am a bit of a massage junkie - been to 15-20 massage therapists in my lifetime - and Alison ranks up there as one of the best! I have been to her several times and have not had a better massage in Portland. Her prices are also very reasonable. You would be crazy not to book with her.
Pros: Quality, Price
Cons: None
during one of the first massages i ever received form alison, i was face down on the massage table and she was working on my back. i was so relaxed that when she asked me a question about my comfort level, i answered in a very mumbled voice that even i couldn't understand and to boot, i was drooling profusely on her floor. i was SO relaxed and alison is the only masseuse that is able to get me to relax completely! Whether you are in need of a therapeutic massage or if you simply want to relax and feel good...alison provides the best of all worlds. i highly recommend her...treat yourself to the 90 minutes...she will cover it all!
Pros: relaxing, reasonable, knowledgeable
I am so fortunate to have discovered AGmassage. Exceptional therapy in a peaceful, pleasant setting, and Alison is such a warm, genuinely caring person. The highest professional standards and clearly striving to excel. No doubt her heart is in her work, and there's simply no substitue for that. Factor in Alison's skill level and on-going professional development, and her clients would have her arrested before letting her close her practice or move to a different city. You need her appointment line on speed-dial. One drawback: Alison's therapy is so relaxing, it may be unsafe to operate motor vehicles after a session; better to just float home in a balloon.
Allison is my very favorite massage therapist! Being a massage therapist myself, I am very critical of my LMT's. Although I trade with a few massage friends, Allison stands above them all. Her techniques are unique and delicious. She provides a very comfortable, professional environment, with much detail payed to all the creature comforts. I feel that I really receive the best balance of therapeutic and relaxation when I'm on Allison's table. I highly recommend this lady. She is a true gem.
Pros: quality, professionalism, value
Cons: none
