In early February, I injured my ankle playing basketball (level 2 sprain). The doctor mentioned it might have been better had I broken the darn thing all together. The doctor recommended the usual: stay off your feet, use crutches, practice strength exercises, etc. After about a month of following the doctors orders, I noticed minimal healing.
I live in the Southeast and many of friends are big into acupuncture but I had never tried. I guess I am somewhat of a skceptic of Eastern Medicine, as well as have a phobia for needles. I decided to give it a go, so a friend put me in touch with Alysia Anderson. She is an athlete herself and specializes in sports recovery. The first session offered minimal needle inserstion because of my dislike of needles. The second session is where I really began to see results. She incorporated some sort vibration technique with the needles. I am not sure exactly how it worked but after about 10 needles were in and around my ankle, Alysia supplied vibration by linking miniature cables from a machine to the individual needles in my ankle. It freed the major stagnation and reduced the swelling.
After 5 sessions I consider myself a regular; it is somewhat addicting to be honest. I can see why friends rave about the benefits and healing power of acupuncture.
Thanks Alysia and I will see you Friday.

Pros: Understanding of sports injuries and ability to properly diagnose/treat
Cons: looking forward to alysia relocating to her larger space
