The Scene
There's a funky Market feel in this family-owned subterranean bistro--velvet curtains separate tables to create private "rooms" and the checked tile floor and famed prints of old Seattle add to the eclectic atmosphere. In-the know tourists and downtown office workers dominate the scene at lunchtime; come dinner, it's all big groups and swoony couples. The service is attentive without being overbearing.

The Food
Fried avocado, the signature starter, is a must-try: a quartered avocado encrusted in panko and deep-fried, then placed in a margarita glass with hearty chunks of Dungeness crab corn relish and tomato chive oil. Main courses change frequently depending on what's seasonal and available in the Market; a standard menu might include Painted Hills New York steak, rainbow trout and lamb chops. The popular lunch menu includes a large assortment of gourmet sandwiches, including crab and steak varieties.

Key Points

  • Real people!
  • doing what they love,
  • in a relaxed upscale setting.

The Inside Scoop

  1. Kid-Friendly - Children 12 and under can enjoy gourmet kid food like herbed chicken strips and rosemary and cheese grilled sandwiches, for a reduced price.
  2. Save Money - There's no corkage fee on Sunday nights if you want to bring your own bottle of wine.
  3. What to Drink - Try the Brown Bag Experience with red wine, where the server pours an anonomous glass and you have to guess the varietal and region (don't worry--you get to keep the glass even with a wrong answer).

94 Stewart .. a simple surprise

by postrj

94 Stewart was a great surprise of a cozy atmosphere with impeccable service. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and the food is straightforward with a simple flair that really works. Adding to the experience is a very solid wine list with an extremely knowledgeable wine steward (Lindsey) who not only knows her wines, but can find the value in the moderate to the expensive. Tuesday nights are the wine special nights and I was shocked the place was not packed. It's relatively pricey, but worth every dollar. Highly recommended.

Pros: Service, Wine, Food

Nice sunday lunch

by chriseller

My girlfriend and I went on a Sunday afternoon and had the place to ourselves, so we were well looked after without feeling pressured or fussed over. I wouldn't recommend the lunch menu for red meat lovers, but seafood is well represented. The salmon, in particular, was really fresh and tasty, but the crab was also good. Desserts are perfectly sized to share between two. We'd like to try again during dinner, and plan to bring some friends.

What a great little restaurant!

by jsuspect

My girlfriend and I ate here a few days ago. The food was great, as all the other reviews mention, but what I think sets 94 Stewart apart is the staff. Our waiter was friendly, imformative, and obviously loved his job. In addition to the wine list, they have several great local beers available which complimented my salmon very well.

I would definately go back and will recommend it to friends.

Pros: Waitstaff, Tasty Food, Great Beer

Super clean display kitchen, Profesional friendly staff, fabulous food and sinful deserts make this a dining gem in the Pike Market. I was dining alone that night and the staff made my meal quite enjoyable. Next time I am at Pike Market I will definitely eat at 94 Stewart again.

Pros: great food, friendly staff, very clean

Cons: street parking

Wonderful Dining Experience

by mbunzel

Great food and wine are only part of a wonderful restaurant experience. A key component of the ambiance, so often missed, is with the wait staff. At 94 Steward they seem to love their jobs and spend time with customers telling stories about a wine or a food item. They became a key part of the ambiance. For our party of 6, everyone remarked that this restaurant has the makings to be one of the top restaurants in Seattle. Located just above Pike Place Market, it is in the right neighborhood with excellent food that will not disappoint.

Pros: Excellent Staff, Great Menu

Will soon be in Seattle's Top Five restaurants

by hank_bartholomew

Chef Cindy Norton first came to our attention when she and husband Mike owned the Rusty Duck and Cibo con Amici in Longview, Washington. We believed then that they offered the best dining, at any price, between Portland and Seattle. Weve dined in many great restaurants throughout the US and four continents, and just know that 94 Stewart will soon be among the very best in Seattle.

There are no ordinary meals when Cindy Norton is the chef. A word of advice to Seattle diners: If you have an opportunity to experience one of her wine dinners, make your reservation as quickly as you can! Cindys talent for capturing the nuanced essence of exoticeven ordinaryfoods and the perfect wine is magical.

94 Stewart is on our to do list any time we visit Seattleindeed a meal at 94 Stewart is reason enough to visit the Emerald City.

Pros: Highest quality food, Superb wine list, Expert service staff

Cons: Will need more seats

Lucky find

by rokgodess25

My husband and I were lucky enough to wander in here during a recent trip to Seattle. There was not one thing about the experience that was bad. From my cocktail that had fresh squeezed orange juice, to the melt in your mouth calamari, it was all excellent. Service was very attentive, but not overbearing. We will definately make this one of our regular spots when we are in town.

Pros: service, food

Great Dining Experience

by mrbroccoli

recently moved to Seattle from NYC and I've got to say this is easily one of my favorite new restaurants. I found all of the food to be incredibly fresh and the combination of flavors absolutely amazing. Being new to the city, I love the use and appreciation of local produce and ingredients. The waitstaff are very attentive. I love this restarant because I didn't feel like I was distracted by the trendiness factor, which you find in a lot of other restaurants. I really can't say enough about this place. Wine list... great. Food... amazing. Good value? I think so! I definitely see myself becoming a regular.

Pros: Delicious cuisine, Fabulous service, Unique
