I have experienced some of the best salons/boutique salons in Southern California and Arizona-Gary is, without a doubt, the best at listening to what the client wants. I have crazy curls and like a lot of depth in my color and he was able to deliver exactly what I envisioned. I recently relocated to Denver but I'm thinking it is only a short 75 minute flight back for a visit!

I went in to get my roots done. I was there on time. Gary was an hour late. I got a "free conditioning treatment". I don't like sitting in a salon, so I wasn't happy. Gary finally shows up for consult. I had the feeling from the very beginning that I should just leave, but I didn't. My hair is wet at this point, so he really can't see the color to match it. He picks a color and just starts putting it in my hair - no paintbrush, no sectioning. Said he didn't use a brush because of carpal tunnel - again I should have left - but didn't. My hair is all mangled and tangled. Now it's going on 2 hours that I'm sitting in there for a root job only. Under the dryer, back up, under the dryer. I don't know if you can apply color to wet hair - I'm doubting it. Finally I get up - "Is this done yet?" Gary says "Well how light do you like your roots?" What?? How about light enough to match my hair color? At this point, unbelievably, I have spent 3 hours in this salon!

Long story long, I washed my hair for the first time last night. Today I have all my roots back, my hair is really brassy and I can't believe it! If it looks like a horse, and it smells like a horse, it's a horse. Get up when you know it is not right and leave the salon. I spent $85 for nothing. Do go just to save a few bucks, you'll pay in the end.

. Well, I just had a baby a few months ago, and before I went into the salon I was feeling out of style, frumpy, and almost depressed with my appearance (from the neck up). I read the reviews of beauty bar and decided to give Mikhail and Gary a try. I figured they couldn?t make me any uglier than I already was feeling. Right off the bat, Mikhail made me feel very comfortable and I had complete trust in his thought of what type of hair style would like nice and fit my lifestyle. To say that Mikhail and Gary gave me the best hair of my life is an understatement!!! I don?t think I will ever find better hair stylist?s EVER! If they moved to the moon, I would go there to get my hair done by them. I will never go any ware else again...EVER! When I got into my truck with my husband he said "I didn?t even recognize you...that is the best hair I have ever seen you with". I was thinking to myself ?Mission Completed...I look hot again? LOL. But anyways, if you are looking for a haircut and or color, Mikhail and Gary are amazing. Walking out of there, I felt like a new person, and liked like one as well. So if any of you new ladies are looking for a little makeover, I highly recommend trying out Mikhail and Gary. You won?t be disappointed.

Being really tired of hairstylists who cut my hair the way THEY want it to look, I've been on the search for a stylist who is a Master at cutting. I found Beauty Bar online and made an appointment based on the reviews I've read here. Mikhail is the real deal! Initially, on meeting him, I thought he wasn't very friendly, but over the course of the hair cut, he warmed up. Just like all the reviews say here, he does listen to his customers and seems to want to give them the cuts that (a) they want and (b) really do work for their face shape. He paid attention and took his time. Is it the best haircut I've ever had? No, but it's very good and considering the outrageous prices at salons here in Scottsdale, Beauty Bar is a good "value". To me, the test of a great haircut is how it looks as it grows out...so only time will tell. Still, I received lots of compliments from family & friends the day of the haircut. BTW, Polly the colorist is also very good. I thought she was pricy though ($60 for a single process all-over color) considering she only has one year's experience coloring hair. I did like the fact that colorists don't cut hair here and vice versa....that gives me more confidence that they really know/like what they're doing. Good Job! I will return.

I called to make an appt w/Mikhail based on the reviews I read here. I have owned a salon, modeled, and been in the cosmetic industry. I have to say this was an adventure as I have always only gone to someone whose work has been proven to me first. I was a little shocked at first but it was mainly due to my coloring my hair prior and it was darker than usual. When he cut my hair I was happy to see he considered my entire frame instead of just my hair and face! Mikhail is an awesome "visionary" and takes a lot of things into consideration when he designs your cut! When I left there I got many compliments from people as I shopped. My husband was very pleased with the results. Don't let the salon throw you off as you walk in!
It would be nice to see it look better but remember that keeps the overhead down! Mikhail keeps you busy during the cut so there is no time for frivilness, go to the spa for that! World class, no but great cut, and opportunity for that look at a good price! I came in from Cave Creek and now my family is coming from Palm Springs as they loved what he did for me!

Pros: Mikhail is superb for the money!

Cons: Ambience and first impression of salon is not good. Could use some hospitality

I recently moved to Scottsdale from Georgia. My husband has been transferred around quite a bit and the worst part about moving is trying to find a competent hair stylist. It took me over a year to find somebody I really loved in Georgia and then we moved about 6 months later. Anyway, after we moved to Scottsdale I had my hair cut for the very first time by a woman that came very highly recommended. My hair was cut in one of those asymetrical bobs that is very popular right now. This woman had no idea how to cut my hair. She used a razor and hacked it to pieces. And then the way she styled it reminded me of an old-lady hair style. It looked horrible and for weeks I really couldn't do anything with it. I, of course, was not going back to her. I was recommended to somebody in Old Town Scottsdale, but I live in North Scottsdale and didn't feel like driving that far. So I did some searching on the internet and came across the name of Mikhail at the Beauty Bar Salon. It's always scary for me when I see a stylist for the first time, but he came across very confident and I felt quite comfortable in his capable hands. He basically told me to sit back and relax and he would fix everything for me. He did that and more so. I had my hair cut four days ago and I have received several compliments. Even my husband who usually keeps his opinions to himself when it comes to my hair, told me he really liked my haircut. Mikhail is an excellent stylist. I highly recommend. The other thing I was impressed about regarding Mikhail was the fact that Mikhail does not do color. I am in need of refreshing the highlights in my hair and Mikhail said he does not do color; he concentrates on haircuts only and that was actually very impressive to me. Just sit back and relax and you will get one of the best cuts of your life by Mikhail.

I went today to Beauty Bar to have a hair cut and highlight. I promised that I'd give them a review bad or good. Well, it was very good! I have difficult hair to cut (so I've been told in the past) and I am rarely happy with my haircut when I leave the salon. To my surprise, I have finally received an excellent haircut and really pretty highlights! I plan on returning to Beauty Bar for my next haircut and many more to come!!

I just got my haircut yesterday and felt compelled to write a hair review for the first time. I found this place online after reading lots of good reviews about Mikhail so I decided to try him out. I've read good reviews about OTHER salons before but was disappointed when I tried them, so I was at first a bit skeptical about this one as well... but was I wrong! Mikhail warmly introduced himself to me then proceeded to ask me about... get this... me! About my likes, dislikes, job, hobbies, interests, social life, etc. After I told him a bit about myself, he told me not to worry and he'll take care of me and to trust him. And I am soooo glad I did. He proceeded to snip, layer, and style, and 45 minutes later, I had an awesome haircut and my hair appears and feels so much healthier. I've already received lots of compliments on how I look younger, healthier, more energetic, how well my hair frames my face, my hair color looks prettier (although I didn't even color my hair), and lots of "Oh my God, so cute". Four people today asked me where I got it done so they can go make appointments. I am so happy I decided to try out the Beauty Bar... and Mikhail, promise us you'll never move back to New York!!!

I have always had my friend back home do my hair, but I get tired of scheduling my appointments around holidays or times when I go back home so I decided to look on city search. I saw that Mikhail had great reviews so I made an appointment and crossed my fingers. I am sooo glad that I did!!! I took a picture in to Mikhail and he cut my hair perfectly! I absolutely love it! And I didn't just take an inch off... i went from having mid-back length hair to having hair that barely passes my chin! Major change! But I love it so much. He was very nice and even if I didn't have a picture I think that he would have done a great job. I also had a girl do a partial highlight and it turned out great (can't remember her name!). Even though it is in a little strip mall next to a Safeway, don't be fooled!! It may not be the trendiest but I thought it was very clean and nice. I thought the price was fantastic! Only $55 for a cut and I think $70 for highlights. I am willing to pay quite a bit for hair that I love, so I thought this was a steal. HIGHLY recommended and I can't wait to go back!

This is a place where your able to sit down with one othe many great stylists, talk, laugh and feel like your at home. They make you feel like a million bucks once you walk out the door. This is a place I would return to and would continue to refer to.

Ok, so I've never felt the need to write on here before, but I just got the great hair cut that I've been searching for since moving to Scottsdale last year. I had been going to the same person in Philadelphia for 10 yrs and haven't been able to find anyone with even half of his expertise....until now. In addition to the fab haircut.....Mikhal listens to you, has a great resume, and couldn't be nicer! Don't let the mediocre appearence of the salon fool you. Oh, and to top it off, the cost is a fraction of what I'm used to paying.

I moved here from New York and have been used to having my hair cut by a stylist and colored by a colorist. I wanted to find a salon that would accommodate me. Luckily I checked on city search and read a review that Mikhail worked in New York for Frederic Fakkai. That was where I used to have my hair cut and colored! I was so exited to find him that I scheduled an appointment and found out that his close friend Reyad was my colorist, what a small world! When I got there I was so exited to have Mikhail style my hair. Lo and behold he cut my hair exactly as I pictured it and his colorist Eric did an awesome job on my highlights. I would have paid 150, to have him cut my hair in New York, here he charges only 55$ my gorgious cut was practically for free. I am so glad I found a salon with such a great atmosphere and the results are positively superb!!! Thanks Mikhail you are a shear genius!

for the past few years I have been flying to LA to have my hair cut by prominent stylist I am a very particular client thus; I only trust my hair to an exceptionally talented stylist. However, recently I had lunch with a friend and I was amazed at how young she looked with her new haircut. She told me that she had her hair cut by Mikhail who was the master stylist at the salon she frequents. She read about him in a magazine article and was very impressed with his background. Apparently he worked with celebrities and high end clientele at the Frederic Fakkai salon in New York for five years. And was trained in Paris at the Jacque Dessange institute. I was able to make an appointment on line, which was incredibly convenient. He even comes in on Sundays and Mondays to accommodate clients schedules, something other salons don?t do out here in the Valley. When I came in to see him he was very courteous, he consulted with me for a few minutes before my haircut. He asked me questions about my lifestyle, how I liked my hair, etc. He was very attentive and listened to all of my concerns. He cuts hair like an artist. I was awed with his technique and originality he gave me a cut that was trendy and very chic. I feel he under prices his creativity. I have finally found a perfect stylist worth staying in Scottsdale for!

I made an appointment only 2 hours before my appointment for a pedicure and low and behold, when i get there I get a blank look on the receptionists face. An other person comes up, not identifying themselves as to who they are in this place, and she informs me that i can only have a pedicure at 3pm, and I should come back then. She doesn't even ask me if I could come back, but only tells me that I can only be seen at 3:00 pm. I didn't even get an apology for the mix up or offered a discount on the service, considering this was my first time at the salon I informed her that I'll never be back. No customer service skills at all. All the hair salon chairs were empty. This is a bad, bad sign a Saturday before new years eve. Don't trust all the reviews. I don't understand why this place got 5 stars. The interior is stuck in the 70s, 80s as well.
There is no pretention in this place because they can't afford it.

Stop by the Beauty Bar for a great experience!!! The atmosphere and the staff are wonderful!! I had the works while I was there. I had my hair cut and colored and then I had an amazing facial and eyebrow wax. They also had a wide variety of products. Go there and you won't regret it!!!

I stopped in for a haircut and I was introduced to Maja the Aesthcian. She was so energetic and sweet that I couldn't turn her offer for a facial down. I have been back several times and my skin feels great. My whole life I have dealt with skin problems and I never concidered anything but the dermetoligist. However Maja has done more for my skin then years at the dermetoligist. Be sure to make an appointment you won't regret it! Thank you Maja and I will see you next week!

It's not easy to find a hair stylist that you can trust with your hair. Melissa has moved from Maine recently and has been very hard to replace. When Melissa called to see how I was doing I realized how much I missed her. I wish could fly to Arizona just to get my hair done. She is a wonderful stylist and I hope everyone in Arizona enjoys her as much as I did!!!

Last fall, I moved to Arizona from NYC. I tried 2 other salons (without success!) before finding Beauty Bar on Citysearch. I would highly recommend Jennifer. She listened to my story about the other two AZ experiences & suggested a plan to get my hair back on track. She's done a terrific job at coloring & cutting my hair. She's also got a wonderful personality that makes you feel at ease once you sit in her chair.

An added bonus is that you can book your appointments online at their website.

I moved to Arizona approximately 2 years ago from New York. Finding the right Stylist wasn't an easy task. I visited quite a few salons both in Scottsdale and Phoenix, and no one met my needs. Until I walked into Beauty Bar on a whim and met Larisa. Not only does she have an awesome personality, she listens and she cares. From color to style, she's amazing. I feel confident in recommending all of my friends and family to her, and it takes a lot for me to do that.

If your looking for a Stylist that is upto date with todays fashions, knows her stuff, will listen to you, make recommendations if asked? Larisa is the the perfect Stylist....

Just moved to Scottsdale two months ago from out east and needed a great place to go to for manicures, waxing and cut/color. I had two bad expierences at other places recently and was in a rut. I read good things about this place here and on Yahoo. Checked out thier website, booked my appointments online, got an email confirmation within minutes. It's a great find, they even had the Pureology stuff I use and the prices were better than I have ever seen, they discount all of thier products. I was really inspired by everything here, the atmosphere is great, employees are so creative and friendly. Will definately go back for more.

I recently moved to Scottsdale from Chicago and was looking for a new salon. It's so hard to find a new place after being with the same stylist for ten years. I found Beauty Bar here on Citysearch and after reading all the great reviews, decided to give it a try. I booked online and it was so easy! I love not having to remember to call and make an appointment, I can do it right while I'm online and I get a confirmation number so I know they actually booked me.

When I got to the salon everyone was so nice. I had my hair cut and colored and I love it. The sylist actually listened to me and gave me a great style. While I was getting my hair colored, the aesthetician came out to talk to me about skin care. I ended up getting a facial too! It was very relaxing. I've been back a few times since and my skin is really starting to look great. She also shaped my eyebrows and I've gotten lots of compliments.

Finding a new salon was easier than I thought. The staff at Beauty Bar are very friendly and professional. I highly recommend this salon.

I had recently moved from NYC to Pheonix. I had 3 bad experiences with stylist, one fried my hair, one (egotistical guy) bleached my whole head then added red color to it (all I asked for was blonde highlights), and the other sobbed over my highlights . . . I thought that I was going to have to grow my hair out and only get hair cuts from now on.

That is until I found Jennifer at Beauty Bar. She was kind and understanding. She listened to what I wanted and really made me feel at home.

The Beauty Bar is a nice place, very clean, and well organized. They have a great web site where you can check staff bios and make appointments.

I would recommend it to anyone.

I found this salon on citysearch and was extremely pleased with my procedures. Larissa is an outstanding eyebrow waxer, great shape, tons of compliments! After going to her for a couple months I needed a cut and color, and was very pleased with the results...exactly what I asked for with her own twist. A true find in Scottsdale, no prima-donnas here, well worth the trip from Phoenix!

I was in Scottsdale on business and was talking about my upcoming 60th with Suzette. I had gone in for a trim. We ended up with a makeover. It was great. Suzette took my 30 years of Clarol 103 B to a new toned down color with lowlights and highlights. That went so well I had Larissa cut my new style and bring it up to date. Then Penny helped me update my makeup skills, boy did I need it.

I knew I needed to make a change and the girls helped me look up to date. I love it and feel ten years younger. Not only did I feel younger but later in the week I was with my son (31) and I was ask if I was his sister!!!

Go work with them they made it easy and fun....
