Let me start by saying that as an Egyptian, I generally have high standards for anything Middle Eastern in the city, especially since I've been to Cairo so many times.
Le Caire went WAY beyond my expectations.

I had my birthday party here last night, and had about 30 of my friends show up. The staff was incredible. The two hostesses, LeeAnn and Gigi were incredibly attentive from the minute we walked in until we left. The drinks and hookahs were flowing nonstop, and anything we asked for was brought over right away.
The owner came over to wish me a happy birthday, and kept checking up on us the entire night and even sent over a bottle of champagne on the house.
The music....INCREDIBLE. The DJ took requests, and fed into the vibe of the crowd. He played Arabic, Spanish, Pop, R&B, Reggae, Indian..but in such a way that everything blended seamlessly from one genre to the other. I didn't sit down once, and neither did anyone else. There was a bellydancer, live drummers...the works. The place really didn't get going until about midnight, but once it did, it was nonstop.
And if all that weren't enough, the crowd itself was fantastic. The crowd was just as diverse as the music, and was really fun. Every corner of the lounge, both upstairs, and downstairs, people were dancing. And, everyone was friendly. My group blended in with two other parties that were there; everyone just wanted to dance, and didn't care if they knew each other or not. I felt like I was at a private party...in a really good way.
I can't say enough good things about Le Caire...I'll definitely be back!

I never posted reviews online but I wanted to rate this place the highest in Mediterranean cuisines. I'm Greek and I always go to same kind of restaurants.
My friend told me about this place and that's how i learned about it.
Besides the fact that the food was delicious, and they were very accommodating, they played Greek music for me as i requested.

Le Caire Lounge is by far one of the best lounges I have been to for a long time.
I went there last Saturday with few friends for dinner and some hookahs and we had a great time! The music is awesome and the drinks are strong. Their Mojitos are the best I ever had! And my feet hurt from dancing all night long:)
I highly recommend this club, crowd is fun and trendy.
I will be back on new year's eve and I'll let you know!!!

my friends and i came to le caire at about 7:30, it was basically empty. we ordered hookah and some drinks, then our waitress told us that we either had to open a tab or pay for it right away. we decided we were only going to be there for a little while, so we just asked her to bring a check...i thought this was weird...why did we have to pay right after we ordered? what if we wanted something else? its not like they were super busy. our waitress was nice, but seemed to rush us to pay; she kept coming back and seeing if we had paid the bill 5 minutes after our hookah and drinks came out. despite this, the hookah was amazing and lasted a long time; the music was also really chill yet got my friends and i to shimmy in our seats. i don't really know what to make of the place, but it is really chill, a little on the pricy side as far as drinks, and the hookah is worth the $15; the only thing that got to me was the issue of paying on the spot. it was unsettling and just weird.

Le Caire Lounge is a very small lounge. I think that is the one drawback to the place. There's not much space for dancing and even less space for sitting down. But, you shouldn't be sitting down for too long anyway! The music is fabulous, the drinks are good, and the belly-dancing on the weekend is lots of fun to watch. It's a great little place for a fun night out with friends.

Take your date there with confidence. I took my girlfriend there after i saw it on this site and saw the pictures online I decided to give it a try "Despite the couple of bad reviews which mostly by CHEAP people:)". We were offered the vip table even though we had no reservations and there was no minimum charge nor bottle service required. If you can't get the VIP tables, you can always sit down stairs which is also very cozy. We just smoked hookah and had few drinks.Smoking hookah with your date while drinking is a win-win situation.

This place is by far the best lounge i've been too in a while. It's more a lounge than a typical restaurant with its low tables but still the food was great. Me and my girl friend were passing by on our way to another restaurant for dinner when we noticed this hookah lounge so we decided to smoke a hookah before our dinner. We loved the atmosphere there that we decided to have our dinner there as they have a full dinner menu with great selections of Mediterranean food. We shared a mezze combo and mix grill and it was the best kebab and falafel we ever had . Our waitress was so friendly and cheerful. Around 11pm the place got busy and they had an amazing belly dance show. We spent the rest of the night there and loved every minute of it. I never write online reviews but i believe this place deserves it and it deserves all the great reviews they already have. If you want a romantic and quite dinner, get there early before it gets busy around midnight.

Without question, this was the worst place to have an event. I went with a group of very fun people, which was the only reason the night was salvaged.
A rundown of the night's events:
The area we reserved (with a deposit) was given to another group; Hot tea was spilt on my friend's back by a waitress who thought running in a crowded room with a hot drink was a great idea; Our coats couldn't be retrieved because coat check tickets weren't handed out... By the end of the night, someone had to go downstairs to the cramped basement everytime someone wanted to leave. The waitresses were attrocious... With that much attitude, you'd think you were there to serve them! At the end of the night, we were given free water... but it was too little too late. I'm sure this is not a typical night here, given all of the amazingly similar rave reviews (that's what people do on sights like these, right? Recommend places...), but I have no intention of having the owner 'make it up to me' the next time I'm in New York.

First of all I did not sign up to post a fake review. I had such a good time at Le Caire recently that the Owner, Basem I think his name is, asked me to write a review if I had the time so this is just a Thank You for such a great night. I made reservations ( do not need to order bottles to reserve seating which is a plus) for 20 guests for my Birthday. I am from Trinidad and also brought along SOCA Mix CD which the DJ was more than willing to play and mix into his own music that night and when I requested more soca tracks to be played because my guest represented most of the crowed that night, the owner took over the DJ Booth and started SPINNING my SOCA tracks and anything else I requested (reggae/dancehall..etc). They also played a great mix of MiddleEastern and European music as well. This was a Saturday night and there was a very good belly dancer at 12pm, who came out and interacted for quite a bit. The hookah was ok and I didn't really go there for the food but the appetizers we ordered were good. The place is quite small, but since it wasn't crowded we had lots of room to dance, despite the lack of a dance floor. My guests and I pretty much shut the place down at 4am that night...we were having so much fun, we didn't want to leave!

I had a going away party here. My guestlist was 60 people, The manager was very helpful and accommodating. There was excellent communication between me and the staff for the duration of the planning. The lounge appears to be a cozy size - and not in a bad way. However, as the night wore on and more people showed, it was still quite comfortable. The decor is much better than it appears in pictures, and provides for an intimate atmosphere even when crowded. The DJ was excellent, and people were dancing the whole night through everybody there looked like they are having a great time. The drink prices are affordable.
I highly recommend Le Caire Lounge. This venue exceeded my expectations as well as my high standards.

First, let me note that I am not writing a "fake" review sponsored by the restaurant. I will of course disclose that since coming to Le Caire in August, I've become good friends with the staff and owner, but that only speaks to the incredible hospitality I've experienced there. My very first experience made me think, why isn't this place more crowded? As a hookah bar/ club, it's an amazing place. The music is fabulous, thanks to the passion of the DJ/owner for Mediterranean music. He's almost always willing to oblige any request as well. The drinks are great, and they usually have some very nice champagne that I don't often see in other places. The owner almost always gives you more than half your tab worth of drinks gratis, simply because he can tell you're having a great time. One criticism I have is the quality of the hookahs, which are not always consistent.

Probably the best draw is the crowd. Being from that part of the world myself, I've been looking for a club that lets me dance my butt off without having to worry about overly aggressive, scary men, and attitude. Le Caire always has the friendliest faces, the nicest, most sane people, fabulous dancers, (both professional bellydancers and the patrons themselves) and generally one of the nicest crowds I've seen in the city. The staff will do everything they can to make you happy, and by the end of the night, you'll feel as if you just spent the night at a house party, with all your best friends around you. That is, if your best friend were a prince from Dubai.

WARNING: I believe that this restaurant is creating fake "good" reviews on Citysearch and other sites. An unusual majority of users posting these "excellent" reviews only have 1 post under their name. This is very suspicious as most people are more inclined by nature to write a negative review rather than a positive one- so the chances of someone joining Citysearch just to post a positive review of a restaurant are slim. Also, you'll notice that many of these supposed "reviews" sound very similar with very generic wording.

Here is my experience from last weekend:

The Kofte and Shish Kebab were excellent. However, we had some issues with the service. First, when we asked for water to start with until we decided on our drinks, the waitress quickly and quietly said "bottled water, ok" (a $3 charge for each bottle)..So I had to call at her and ask for tap water, which she claimed they did not have. I asked her to get some from the kitchen but she still claimed that no tap water was available. Second, my "draft" Hoegaarden was brought out in a bottle, so I had to ask the waitress for a glass with a lemon (properly served). Third, a 20% service charge appeared on the bill even though we were only a party of 2- this was not disclosed in the menu. At that point I didn't even want to bother. The food was great but we'll never go back simply due to the horrible service. There are much better Turkish restaurants in NYC with good food/service and where customers don't feel cheated for their money.

Pros: Great Food

Cons: Attempts to cheat customers, bad service

my friends and i went to Le Caire two weeks ago on a saturday night.. so fun! it's a small place, but they have great staff that check up on you and clear your tables quickly. the dj that night was great, he played the best music all night and we had the best time. we had a hookah and it lasted a surprisingly long while among four people. the bar gets crowded, but they do the best they can with several bartenders. everyone had a blast and we'll definitely be back.

I was walking with my girl friends on the way to La Souk and we stumbled upon this great little Middle Eastern lounge. We decided to go in and give it a shot. We ended up partying there all night. Great crowd, dj was really in tune with the crowd, drinks were strong, best mojito's I've had in a while. Two weeks later my boyfriend had his birthday party there and the owners really hooked us up and they even remembered us. That kind of service is hard to find in the city these days. Highly recommed it for group parties. No cover, no minimums, no hassels.

I?ve been to plenty of hookah bars/lounge and Le Caire is one of the better ones NYC has to offer. What I especially liked about this lounge was its versatility, it?s one of those places you can go with a few friends, a date or a whole big group of people and still have a blast. You can either sit back, relax and smoke some hookah or they play really great music that makes it hard not to get up and dance. It?s great for any mood your in. All the owners, DJ and chef are middle eastern so all the hookahs, music and food are authentic and it really gives a feel that your somewhere exotic, like a scene out of a Sulton?s palace. I really have a great time every time I go and it?s a great place for anyone with a little culture and a lot of class!

I am in my mid thirties so I have been to many clubs/lounges in my lifetime and this is by far on my list of top 10 places to go in the city. The theme of an Egyptian tomb adds to the ambiance and reminds me of a lounge i went to in vegas. The food that they serve is very good and not over priced for the city. When i go there I always know that I am going to have a great time. I was shocked to read the comments posted below because the staff has always been extremely helpful and my experience there has always been a good one.

After a hard week at school or work my friends and I have a place where we can go or chill or dance to the wide variety music that they play. The couches are very comfortable and the decor goes with the classy theme of an egyptian tomb. They have a wide variety of Shisha flavors and the people working there are always curteous and willing to help, they even occasionally have belly dancers. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good time in the city.

This is by far the best lounge I've been to in NYC...Since my friend had her birthday there with over 40 of us, we have spent all our birthdays there. The staff is friendly, the rates are reasonable, the hang out is cool, the music rocks...All in all a great experience. Highly recommended.

I had my b. day party there last week and we all had an amazing time. Staff are really friendly and they went out of their way to accommodate us. I made the reservation for 12 people and i actually had around 20 people that showed up for my party, i thought we weren't gonna get tables for all of us since i got more people than what i expected and more than what i reserved for. But we got our own section downstairs and was great. Our waitress was extra nice and the music was awesome.
I will definitely be back.

We got there early and started off with drinks. Then we had the veggie combos and they were really tasty! The place looks great, very nice ambiance. The music (specially the middle eastern) was good and the people were great. We had strawberry and apple hookah and it was awesome. Great place all around. I will most definitely be back soon!

I went there couple of times already the first time was on a Friday night with few of my friends. From the moment we got in, we were in love with this place and its atmosphere. First they honored our reservation, the waitress was v. friendly, the food was delicious, the music was great, and we smoked the best hookah ever.
My second time there was on a Wednesday night. It was not as busy as it was on Friday but we still enjoyed the food, the music, and of course the hookah.
So if you're looking for a place to party go on the weekend, and if you want a place to chill-out and have a nice dinner, then go on a weeknight.
Most of all they are very respectful.

I went to Le Caire the first time, a few months back for a birthday, and we had such an awesome time, that this has become my new hangout spot. First the music is great - I am Middle Eastern, and they play the hottest new songs. Second, it is really cozy and friendly, last time I was there the waitress actually pulled me and my girlfriend up to dance. I just tried the food this last saturday, and all I can say is - Yummy. Sometimes it is a bit crowded though on Saturdays and Fridays, but I guess some people like that. Anyway, if you are looking for a cozy spot with great dance music, and tasty food....Le Caire, is it!

I came here on a Friday night with two other friends and we luckily managed to snag a corner "private" booth. Hookahs are incredibly smooth and delicious, and though they only serve beer and wine, the wine they had went well with the hookahs. Hookahs on Fridays/Saturdays are $20, which is a steal for NY! There was a belly dancer there for a lil' while, and usually I don't care for belly dancers, but this one was actually entertaining and fun to watch. The place was packed but not super crowded. The music by far was the best part of the place. They played everything from hip hop to indian remixes to middle eastern/arabic music, so basically everything you can dance to! I would definitely recommend coming here on night you want to chill with a small group of friends.
