Wayne and his company did a complete installation of the air conditioning and heating in my home about 5 years ago, and I am still paying the price of their incompetence. For months after he installed a brand new central air conditioning system, the AC never worked properly, causing us to swelter at the height of summer without Beacon Mechanical bothering to properly identify the problem or fix it. One of the AC units had stopped cooling right after Wayne installed it, and though it was still under warranty, he took forever to come out to replace the condenser and recharge the Freon. Only at the end of the summer, after repeated calls to his office and cell phone, did he come out to the house and attempt to fix the problem. Because of the long wait for the repair, it cost me over fifteen hundred dollars in electric bills to cool the house with a single unit.

But this was only the beginning of my headache in dealing with Beacon Mechanical. The AC units never had adequate coolant, because of insufficient Freon pressure. The house never had proper flow of air conditioning or heating on any of the floors. The second floor bedroom was sweltering in the summer, freezing in the winter, and the bathrooms were either cold as meat lockers or hot as brick ovens, because all the heating or cooling somehow got dumped into them. Not only that, the HVAC unit was so loud on the third floor that it sounded like a jet aircraft taking off every time the automatic thermostat tripped the unit on. The heater also had not been vented to the roof properly which violates New York City code.

I pleaded with Wayne to at least fix the exhaust and the sound problem, since we??d given up on his ability to repair anything else, and he reluctantly came to the house, installed an enormous, ugly vent in the wall, along with a few others downstairs, and demanded $1000 for the trouble! Needless to say, none of his ??repairs? fixed our problems. After 3 years of dealing with this incompetence, I called a highly reputable company to deal with these issues, and the head of the company described the person who installed the original the HVAC system as a ??butcher.?

As it turned out, Wayne did shoddy duct work throughout the house, using the same vent as an exhaust for both the HVAC and the water heater, which is not only dangerous, but illegal in New York. As a result, in order to pass inspection, I had to install an entirely new exhaust system at a cost of $3500. In addition, he hadn??t installed proper air filters, had vented the dryer and bathrooms illegally, didn??t insulate or seal the duct work, used inadequate ducts to several of the rooms, and had never bothered to test the system to see if it worked right. In short, after five years, I paid nearly $10,000 more to have a very poor job brought up to the standard of a mediocre one. All without the support, competence, or sympathy of Beacon Mechanical.

These people should really go into another business. Maybe off-shore drilling...

Wayne was quick to give a lower than expected quote but when he arrived to do the work could not or did not complete it. I was quoted with having a humidifier installed and then told it wasn't possible. I was told my A/C was in good condition and it is old and should be replaced. I had to wait over two months and continuously call to get my thermostat installed and am still waiting for a vent. He was full of excuses and never apologized for the fact that he had no problem cashing my check but has yet to finish the job. He has left my husband sitting at home waiting for him and not shown. Very unprofessional! He also did work in my mother's house and caused significant water damage that he now has to repair.

Beaconlight Mechanical provided an excellent service to me and my family. It was an extremely hot summer night, close to 95 degrees when my central air unit shut off. I called Wayne from Beaconlight and they replaced my 30 year condensing unit the next day. Their staff was on time, neat and professional. Being that I was so impressed with their service, I signed up for a maintenance contract to provide service on the new unit for years to come. If you are looking for a Great Air Conditioning Company, you found it with Beaconlight Mechanical!!!! I will tell all of my clients, friends and family to use them for all of their air conditioning needs!!!
