We love Atlanta Tae Kwon Do. My son is six and has been taking classes with Master Mast since February. He has gotten better coordinated, stronger and has gained more self-control. The children adore and respect Master Mast - he is kind but firm. I have a few friends at this school and they are all extremely happy here. The do offer a month free trial, so you have nothing to lose!

I was disappointed with this school. There are too many closings; classes are by age only so families are restricted from training together except for once a week, which did not fit our schedule. After I found out that he charges tuition on a "sliding scale" I pulled my child out. We signed up at the stated price, and then I discovered from other parents that the owner was charging them substantially less after they bargained with him. Some people were paying such a low tuition, I questioned the value of the training- you get what you pay for. I switched to a school that charges slightly higher prices but provides high quality training. My kid got two first places in the very first tournament he competed in when we switched schools, and loves his new Taekwondo school!

Pros: not much

Cons: Limited parking, bad location, no bathrooms in school

I've been training in martial arts for almost 9 years now and I'm so glad I've found ATLUTKD. Contrary to other reviews, this place is NOT a belt factory or lacking in any real way.

The master instructor is incredibly knowledgeable, gifted at instruction, and a great role model for both kids and adults alike.

The students themselves are also a fantastic group... there's a good camaraderie at this place.

If you are looking for a way to 'get in shape', this place is for you.
If you are looking for a fun way to exercise, this place is for you.
If you are looking to compete - in sparring or in forms - this place is for you.
If you are looking for a place for your child to train, this place is for you.
If you are looking for a place for yourself to train, this place is for you.
If you are looking for a TOP NOTCH martial arts schoo, this place is for you.

All sorts of students thrive at ATLU.

I've looked at other TKD schools in the Atlanta/Metro area, and this one is tops... Many people drive to Decatur from Marietta, etc. during rush hour traffic just to train at this school.

I was looking for a TKD school in the Metro Atlanta area and this was one of the schools I visited. The lack of a variety of instructors (none but the owner are listed on the website) was troubling- variety in training is very important to the serious TKD student. Then I read the Student Handbook on the website; it is a text-book example of the very worst in micromanagement techniques. It instructs the prospective student in how to sit, walk, behave, eat, drink, and think. Ugh. Also, the monthly fees are suspiciously low- a clear indication of a substandard school. After observing a belt test I was disappointed to realize that everyone got advanced regardless of ability, very unfair to the hardworking and high achieving student. A belt factory if I ever saw one, and a blemish on the good reputation of WTF affiliated schools. Not recommended for serious training.
