For 27 years Boston business professionals have frequented Tia's Restaurant on Boston's waterfront. Tia's is the longest running independant business in the city. Voted "Best of Boston" by Boston Magazine, Tia's is the place to be! Our outdoor patio has heated awnings so you can jump into the "Summer Mode" and enjoy dining and drinking under the stars. Tia's, famous for it's lobster specials, also serves fresh seafoods, steaks and lighter fare. Tia's has a great kiddie menu and is handicap accessible. We are now booking business and corporate patio lunches and can accommodate up to 500 people. Patio lunches start at $15.95 per person. Tia's is also a great place for you bridal shower and private funcitons and events. Please call for further details. Do what all Boston professionals do, plan on the best. Just say "Meet me at Tia's!"

Editorial by Citysearch

The Scene
Most nights at Tia's are calm, pretty and prime for people-watching. The after-work crowd drinks in both the waterfront view and a cocktail (or eight); young moms from suburbia check their watches over chardonnay; the trade-show contingent dissects lobster at clustered tables; and footsore tourists wrestle their Faneuil Hall shopping bags. Weekends, it's a rambunctious pickup den.

The Draw
Tia's serves some basic seafood staples, but it's the view that brings the crowds. With more than 20 tables facing the harbor, it has one of Boston's best waterfront views, but snagging one of these tables on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night can be a feat. But once you're down, cocktail waitresses keep you from having to get up each time you're empty. There's also an outdoor bar.

Key Points

  • Business lunches on the patio
  • Patio Parties & Bridal Showers
  • Private Functions/Events

The Inside Scoop

  1. Know Before You Go - Having drinks after work? On a sunny day, get there by 6pm or you may be left standing with your beer.
  2. The Extras - Smokers are welcome to light up on the spacious outdoor patio.

Tia's is terrible.

by Gina A. | insider Insider | Rank: 19,214

Hated this place. Went there with the girls for a night out and the apps and drinks were too expensive for what you got. Not to mention we had wanted to be outside but it was like the front lawn of a frat house out there. Our waitress was unattentive and spacey. I wont be going back.

Tia's is awful

by John S.

Just terrible. Are you kidding me with the rude waitstaff, overpriced light beers, terrible food. I would rather stay home than ever get dragged to this dump again.

A Perfect Summer Bar

by Catherine D. | insider Insider | Rank: 23,921

Tia's is a perfect summer bar. It is mostly outside and right on the water. A great place to go for cocktails after work or to stay all night. The drinks are a little more expensive that the other Fanuel Hall bars in the area, but the atmosphere is worth it.

Great Place!!

by SouthShore

I have been to Tia's on many occassions and have never had a bad experience. It is a great place for a nice dinner or to enjoy drinks with friends. I have found both the bar staff as well as the wait staff to be extremely friendly and provide get service. I am a huge fan of the Twin Lobster Special. Overall Tia's is a great place!!!!

Pros: Good drinks, Friendly staff

Great Atmosphere, Fabulous Service

by Sox0077

After dining at Tia's I couldn't wait to share my experience with the world, ok maybe just Boston. I recently had the pleasure of experiencing this amazing restaurant for the first time. I had always heard stories about Tia's and how fabulous the location is, and how it's a great after work place to go but never really appreciated all the stories I'd heard until I saw for myself. I visited Tia's late in July with my boyfirend, it was a great night so we sat outside. The hostess was great and freindly. Our server, Toby, was truely amazing. She recommended that we have the boneless buffalo wings to start, which I loved and so did my boyfriend! Then I had the baked stuffed lobster, no other can compare to this! And my boyfriend had the seafood sizzler which he also raved about. After dinner we walked over to the outdoor (bar area) patio, it was very busy and a fun place to spend our evening. We went into the City for a night on the town and got it all at one place...... Tia's! Now I know what I have been missing and the stories I heard were absolutely true. So if you're looking for a great atmosphere, waterfront view, great service, good music, and fun than I recommend Tia's!

Cool atmosphere

by Fenway34

I have been to Tia's about 4 times. The first time was 5 years ago when I was interning with WEEI and doing promotions. Since then I have been to Tia's a few more times and have enjoyed myself. Living and working outside of Boston, I am not in Boston as often as I would like as it is a beautiful city with a lot to offer. It seems like every time I go into Boston, whether it is for a girl?s night out, a play, or an afternoon shopping spree in the city, Tia's always ends up being part of my trip. I never anticipate it, but I always end up there enjoying a nice frozen drink with my friends to end my day before leaving the city. I just wanted to let you know that the atmosphere and welcoming staff make every trip I make to the city an enjoyable one!!! Keep up the good work!!!

Pros: Atmosphere

Best place to get food sickness in Boston

by BobSmith79

I have heard stories of the sketchy food preparation at some Boston restaurants but this place takes the cake. My younger sister had the honor tonight of eating their salmon and has been throwing up on herself for the last few hours. Steer clear of Tia's unless you are looking to lose some weight because this place will make you sicker than the Ebola virus.

Pros: Helps you lose weight

Cons: Food sickness

If you haven't been, it's a must! If you have, you're probably a regular!

by LiaTeQuiLa

I absolutely LOVE Tia's. It's great during the day and it has an amazing night life as well. The atmosphere is fantastic and it's an excellent place to meet people. Also, the staff is very friendly and the food there is great. The seafood is especially good because it's so fresh. I may even say it's Legal Seafood's competition! Definitely check it out if you haven't yet...

Tia's

by MDAC

Tia's is known so well as a bar that the great food is often overlooked. We heard that it is a great scene on sunny afternoons, and that's why we went. We were having such a great time that we decided to stay for dinner and had some of the best seafood we've eaten anywhere.
This is REALLY a great place to hang out on the waterfront on a warm day or evening, and a great place for a casual lunch or dinner.

Pros: Great scene, great food, great service

Cons: Indoor portion of the bar can get crowded

Cant wait for afternoons on Tia's patio

by Celts

I cant wait for tia's to open back up. When Tia's opens up thats a sure sign that spring is here. I go there almost every thursday or friday afternoon for a few drinks and food. The place is usually busy when the weather is nice, its always a good crowd too. Try to get thier somewhat early on nicer days. If you're going to have food you have to try the calamari! Should only be another week or so before spring is here, aka Tia's opens up.

Pros: patio, crowd, food, service, atmosphere

Cons: gets crowded early

always a good time

by bosox55

Everytime I go to Tia's I've had a good time. Whether it has been just for drinks after work or spending a friday night there, I've never had a bad experience. Sitting outside on the deck after work is the perfect way to relax after a long day. The food is good and the staff is friendly. One of my favorite bars in Boston.

Pros: outside dining

Cons: none

Can I get my money back??

by pumpkin1k

We were only in Boston for a day & we were really looking to find a great meal while we were there. Boy was this the wrong place!
1. The service was HORRIBLE!! Our waitress was not personable at all, we only saw her to put in the order, drop off our food and pay the bill - we weren't even offered drink refills. When we had a problem it took us quite a while to hunt her down, and she handled it very badly.
2. My daughter got a kids meal (she's 5), her burger was burnt and she wouldn't eat it. Any of you who have kids know that once the food is ranked as bad by a child there's no redeeming it. She didn't want anything else at this point & she certainly didn't want another burger. Our waitress seemed to care less that she was leaving the restaurant hungry AND they didn't take it off the bill - she took ONE bite!! Who does that?
3. OVERPRICED - I had lobster roll & clam chowder - while it was pretty good, the portion was TINY and it was very expensive for what I got.
4. DH had lobster (when in Boston, eat lobster). It was poorly prepared (chewy) and when it came out it was cold - when you're paying market price it had better be done right - how hard is it to boil a lobster!

I worked in restaurants for a lot of years in the past and my minimum tip is usually 20-22% for average service- I tend to overtip a lot if the service is good - this is the first time I left 8% and regretted it later thinking that was too much for how bad the service was - she could have played a part in fixing our food issues but obviously she couldn't be bothered. How hard is it to get a child a new meal if hers is bad or to take care of a lobster dinner that was obviously cooked too long! $80 for lunch and 2 out of 3 of us left hungry!

Pros: Location was nice

Cons: Service was horrible, food was bad and overpriced

Underated

by boston_bar_connoisseur

Even though every time I've been to Tia's it's been busy, I still feel like it's an underrated bar in the city. Right on the harbor, Tia's offers good food and a cool place to have a few drinks. It's one of my favorite bars to go to during the summer because you can stay outside the entire time with their outdoor bar. Nothing too flashy here, but has good beer selection.

Pros: Waterfront, Plenty of space outside

Cons: Inside bar is very small

Great food and even better service

by bostongrill

This place is great. My wife and I had some company come to visit and we asked some friends where to take them and Tia's came highly reccomended. We went on a nice afternoon and sat outside on the patio. The food was great, and the service was exceptional. Our server was so nice and was constantly asking if we needed anything. Our company loved it and requested we go back there next time they are in town.

Best bar in Boston

by bosox04

I've been to Tia's a bunch of times. Boston's young professionals wait for this place to open back up in the offseason. The patio is right on the water and always full of fun people. The after work crowd is very friendly because we all just got off our 9 - 5 job and need a drink to relax. The food is great, I've been to a couple events at Tia's that are catered. They always put out a good spread. The seafood here is great as well, nothing like eating seafood and being able to see the ocean.

Pros: Location, food, service, atmosphere

Cons: Parking

If you like drunks and skanks

by jimjenkins

This place is a clown show. I saw a bunch of roid freaks start a fight with some kids over a chair (luckily they ended up with the chair, although it was over the side of their head, good for them!) Otherwise, if you enjoy overpriced drinks and the suburban crowd that comes into Boston to get wasted and start fights with people, this is your place.

Pros: its close to the water

Cons: everything else

HORRIBLE FOOD, MEDIOCRE SERVICE

by jonnym041

The food was so bad I couldn't bear to stay for drinks at the bar. The calamari was not only gross, but there was hardly enough for one person even if you did want to eat it. The waitress left no impression and the martinis stunk. The only thing worse than the ridiculous bill was the turkey club. Not only do they not tell you want is on it (warning there is a massive avacado right in the middle) but they put (no exaggeration) 20 times more mayo on it than there should have been. No one at our table left satisfied. I guess if you haven't had seafood you wouldn't know how poor the quality was, but please don't have this be your impression of Boston. Go for drinks, but avoid all food.

Pros: waterfront, outdoor, nice area

Cons: food, service

Awful Service

by chicagotrixie

I was in town (yes, a tourist) and my friends in Boston highly touted Tia's for drinks and dinner. We had the worst service I have ever encountered at a restaurant. The restaurant was dead and we were her only table: I not only had to approach the bartender for water but also our drink order. The food was poorly prepared and cold when it arrived to our table. Just a terrible experience.

Cons: SERVICE

My Favorite Bar in Summer

by capechick

This is my favorite bar in the summer. The summer only lasts so long so I like to be outside as much as possible when the weather permits. This bar has great drinks, great views, and a great crowd (especially after work). Whenever someone new comes into town to visit this is the first place that comes to mind. This is what Boston is all about.

Pros: drinks are plenty, great crowd, great scenery

Gotta have the stuffed lobster!

by itzbethm

Our experience at Tia's was quite pleasant, the food was excellent, quite possibly the best stuffed lobster I've ever had, and being from the Caribbean, I've had lots! We were seated promptly, and although service was just average, the ambiance was quite pleasant. I'm going back soon!

Pros: Stuffed Lobster, Ambiance, Outdoor Seating

Tia's: Avoid at all costs

by netwerk23

Went there for dinner last night.
1. Overpriced drinks (8$ for a beer)
2. Food stunk (The Calarmari app. was cold and not as advertised on the menu)
3. Seating (they tried to put 8 people at a 4top next to us, essentially forcing us to move so that we weren't being sat upon by the 4-too-many people next door)
4. Service (slow, lackluster, inattentive, only chatted with us when serving the bill [for tip purposes probably])
5. Atmosphere (crowded and overly trying to be trendy)

I recommend everyone avoid Tia's unless they go through a major revision.

Pros: Near the water

Cons: Food, Service, Atmosphere

Cheesey on the Waterfront!

by danapanzarino

This place is for the just turned 21 crowd. Filled with cheesey girls and guys especially Wednesdays and Thursdays in the summer. The drinks are overpriced and the food isn't that great. Definitely not worth the expenses!!!!!

Pros: fun location, indoor/outdoor bar, summer atmosphere

Cons: pricey drinks, cheesey crowd, overly crowded

Overrated

by khdarling

This place sucks. The only reason it has a good rep is because it occasionally gets a few hotties after work on Thursday. C'mon, you can't even see the water and you spend the entire time moving out of the ever passing crowd's way.

Anything but Water

by s_szelag

Great Bar with friendly staff. Creative and entertaining bartenders who can serve up what you want even if you don't know what it is. The menu is varied enough to be interesting, and the food is good with decenet sized portions. The prices are a little high, but this is where Boston hangs out.

Pros: Good Food, Great Staff

Cons: No Parking, Fairly Expensive
