I wish I could give them negative stars!

A toilet in my office had a broken flange. BF came out and quoted me $3500 for the repair saying the concrete slab had to be jack-hammered, destroying the floor, the pipes and flange replaced, the toilet replaced and then they could re-set the toilet temporarily while I contracted with a flooring company to repair the floor.

I called anther plumber who fixed the problem in 2 hours for less than a tenth their charge and the floor was not destroyed.

BF returned when I refused their offer and charged me $320 for a service call and to "pull the toilet". So I ended up paying BF the same for their "diagnostics" that I paid for the actual repair.

I will NEVER RECOMMEND THEM!

I read the reviews and was well informed when this company came out. First I would like to say you get what you pay for. What I got and paid for was quality service, peace of mind and
great service. The technician, Tim, was very informative and knowlegeable. He took the time to explain how our systems work and answered every one of my questions very patiently and I could tell he valued me as a person not just another customer. Sure you may be able to find another plumber that cost less, but the return you get for your money is what should be weighed out. I would recommend this company over any other and always say you get what you pay for.

BUYERS BEWARE. \n\nI called Benjamin Franklin to replace my Water Heater and Sump Pump. What a fool I was. Their quote was for $2,711. I told them I had to get a second opinion and they charged me $49 for the service call.\n\nI got the work done with another plumnber with comparable equipment for $1,300. \n\nAfter such a disparity between the Ben Franklin Quote and my actual installation, I asked for my $49 back. \n\nI didn't really expect them to give me my $49 back and of course they did not. \n\nI spoke cordially with the General Manager who made it clear he would not refund me. It was obvious he could care less about customer service and would rather have his plumbers charge an arm and leg to some sucker than keep an honest customer happy. \n\nThey are all about MONEY and nothing else. Stay away from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing.\n\nBUYERS BEWARE

I called Benjamin Franklin for a plumbing issue. and they gave me a quote of 5000 to 8000 dollars. Needless to say i got a second opinion. I came across a plumber by the name of John S Major at 704-563-7020. They gave me a quote of 3000 and I went with them. After digging up my line John Major came to my door and said that his quote of 3000 was to high for my issue and quote "" in good conscience he could not charge me 3000 dollars and the service would be 1775."" \r\n\r\nThis is a father and son owned complany and they are extremely fair and completely honest with you. They work fast and take their work serously. \r\n\r\nI recommend them highly. If America was filled more with honest people like this father and son business we would be a whole lot better off. They are friendly, no nonsense and work fast while doing your job right. They do what they say and give you honest information. \r\n\r\nI will not use anyone else ever. Benjamin Franklin are do not tell the truth and are out to get as much money as possible from you.

This is for Charlotte, NC--Not sure why it says I am in San Francisco.

I would give a "O" if they would let me. We called for help and they were 30+ minutes late. The cost of just coming to the house (not doing anything) was $49. When he arrived, all the guy did was try to sell us things--new faucets for $700+, water filtration system. In the end, he would not do the simple task we needed (reattach a hose to our piping, no parts required) for less than $200. My husband ended up figuring it out himself and it took LESS THAN 3 MINUTES. Benjamin Franklin is NOT here to help you--they are here to get in your house and sell you things you don't need. TERRIBLE!!!!!!

Do not use this company!!!! They took adavantage of disabled sister!!! She called them to unclog a toilet and suddenly her hot water heater is out.?? There wasn't any problem with the hot water at all!!!!! They used high pressure sales tactics and got her to buy a water heater (20 gallon low boy) that costs 300 at a big box but charged her $1000. Plus, when the repairman went to get it, he brought back the wrong one. This took ALL day!!! I called their ops manager Steve Miller to complain but got no call back. I am not surprised. If I was ripping off people all over town, I wouldn't return my calls! How do these sleep at night!!!???

This company was called to unclog a toilet at my sister's condo but told her she needed a new water heater. How does needing a toilet unclogged become a new water heater?? Through high pressure and deceit! They took advantage of my sister who is disabled. The water heater for her unit was a ""low-boy"" 20 gallon. At MOST costs $300 from Lowe's or HD. At BF it was $1000.00!!!!!!!! To make matters worse, the guy takes two hours to get and brings in the WRONG one. Two hours later, he finally returns to install this golden $1000.00 water heater. My sister had NO WATER HEATER PROBLEM!! THE HOT WATER WORKED FINE!!!! BEWRE OF THIS COMPANY!!!! How do these people sleep at night is beyond me!

I usually don't take the time to applaud service companies because I think they are simply doing their job. I am paying them to perform a service and I have high expectations so I believe a good job should be standard... otherwise I simply won't use them again. BUT THIS TIME.... I am taking time out of my busy day to tell people how great of a job this company did. I am beyond pleased with the customer service and knowledge of this company. They have been at my home for 4 days in a row and every detail has been perfect. The plumbers have gone out of there way to inform me and make sure I am happy with everything going on. From start to finish they were professional, clean and most importantly I felt that I could trust them. BRAVO BEN FRANKLIN PLUMBING! You just got yourself a lifetime customer.

I had a plumber by the name of Justin out to my home this past weekend. He was professional, courteous, and exceeded my expectations. There was no extra charge for him to come out on a Saturday night and he was able to change my water heater on the spot. I was able to take a bath that night, he was super fast. I am pleased with their service and will use them again.

This is a great company to do business with. They were on time, professional, and very courteous. The plumber was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. He took the time to patiently explain what he was doing and how to avoid future problems. I am very happy with my service call and I will be using them again in the future.

I not only didn't engage these people, but had to hang up after an extensive period of time on the phone with their obnoxious, pushy, uninformative, demanding person who answers the phone. \n\nShe would give me no information of any kind whatsoever in answer to simple questions like ""is there a service fee"", ""are your plumbers employees or contractors,"" ""do you do such and such type of work"", etc.\n\nWhen I would ask a question, she would respond with detailed questions about me, like every conceivable aspect of my contact data, including address and payment method and much more. In response to other questions of mine, she would rattle on and on about how great the company was, but not giving me any worthwhile information.\n\nI told her she didn't need to know my address in order to tell me if there was a service fee, and she asked even more questions. Then she would press me to make an appointment, without answering anything.\n\nWhen I finally told her, actually giving 3 warnings, that I was going to hang up if she didn't answer my questions, that I was not going to give her more information about me or make an appointment until she did, she would just ask more questions and try again to make the appointment.\n\nI finally told her, ""this is it; I'm hanging up if you don't tell me if there's a service fee right now, and she started talking again about the ""openings"" on the repairman's schedule. So I hung up.\n\nIt was so bizarre, so far beyond the norm, that it seemed absolutely crazy.\n\nI can only image what service and pricing from a company that behaves this way to a simple telephone inquiry about an appointment would be like.\n\nIt appears that they think they can totally control the conversation and the action and browbeat callers into open-ended commitments without making any commitments themselves or revealing anything about themselves.\n\nAfter decades in real estate and property management, I have never experienced anything like it.

I had Kevin from Ben Franklin Plumbing out to my home. He was very helpful. He took the time to listen and provide answers. I was very impressed with his ability to perform the work quickly and how neat and professional he looked. He went over all my options and allowed time for me and my wife to make a decision. He also went over all the pricing and was extremely courteous. He did a fabulous job and his attitude will keep us calling Ben Franklin for all of our plumbing needs.

This was my first experience with Ben Franklin Plumbing and we were very happy with their work. We signed up for a Ben Society agreement and saved 15% on all the repairs. The plumber wore his shoe booties and cleaned up everything when he was done working. He even came out twice in the evenings. Most companies would have rescheduled for the next day but I was very impressed when he showed up to my home after 8pm. We will definitely use them again in the future.

I have used this company for over 20 years and have never had a bad experience. I have even spoken with the owner on the phone several times. My preferred plumber is Cyrus but I have had several others out to my home as well and they were all very informative and professional. Everyone at the company has a very friendly attitude. All of my plumbing issues have been resolved very quickly and efficiently. Highly recommend them.

This plumber did work for me late last year in my yard and in my garage, and only in those places. A few weeks later I was told they wanted to come over to review the work they performed. So, I had to move things around to meet with them. When they arrived the first thing I was asked was if I was happy with their service. I right off told him that I was unhappy with the condition they left my yard in and that I now had a lot of work to do to fix what they left. The serviceman didn't even seem to care. He came into my garage and without missing a heartbeat was heading inside my house. I told him that all their work inside the house was in the garage and he told me he was here to do an inspection of my homes plumbing. An unwanted and unrequested inspection. What a rouse!!! He wasn't there to review the work they had done. this was a business development visit that cost me time. I consider this way worse those nagging cold calls we all used to get right at dinnertime. If you do use their service, be prepared to pay top dollar, just refuse their business development visit later.

I had a leak in my water heater. Someone from Ben Franklin came to give me an estimate. They wanted to replace the entire tank at a cost of $1800. Interestingly enough they wouldn't write out the estimate on a piece of paper because I told them I was going to get other estimates. They wanted to see the other estimates first and told me they would pay me for showing them the estimates from other plumbers. My brother is a plumber so I had him come over and it was just a cracked plastic nozzle which he fixed for about $15. Glad I didn't go with Ben Franklin. I would never call them for anything. I just feel badly for seniors or others who they tell need a new water heater when they could just replace a nozzle or make other minor repairs into some major project.

My husband and I own a small home services company. Because all of our clients have used our services for many years, they often call us for projects outside our scope of business. We are not plumbers, so although we have 2 small plumbing contractors whom we work with on a regular basis, we suggested one of our clients call Benjamin Franklin Plumbing for an ER job that had to be done immediately. They needed a toilet fixed in an older but very well maintained home.\n\nThe service person comes out and says that he cannot fix the toilet. Of course he never tells them the actual problem with the toilet just that the toilet needs to be replaced. Because of the rough, the toilet is an odd size but can be ordered for around 500 dollars (it is a handicap accessible toilet).\n\nThe ""plumber"" did not tell them that the toilet could be ordered. He told them that the toilet was not available to fit the rough and that it would cost...(hold on to your seats) 1800 dollars to install any new toilet. 1800 dollars to install a toilet and the plumber stated that there would be no warranty on the work. For that price the plumber had better be at my house in the morning to wipe and powder my rear after using it.\n\nWhat a crock. Even if the price to order the toilet is around 500 bucks there is no way that a toilet installation would ever cost 1300 dollars in labor unless they were planning to replumb the whole thing.\n\nOhh and they charged a 70 dollar diagnostics fee and never told the people what the diagnosis was...I will never, ever recommend this company to any of our clients. From now on we will go ourselves and turn off the water supply until our reputable and honest plumbers can get to the residence.

For that price the plumber had better be at my house in the morning to wipe and powder my rear after using it.

What a crock. Even if the price to order the toilet is around 500 bucks there is no way that a toilet installation would ever cost 1300 dollars in labor unless they were planning to replumb the whole thing.

Ohh and they charged a 70 dollar diagnostics fee and never told the people what the diagnosis was...I will never, ever recommend this company to any of our clients. From now on we will go ourselves and turn off the water supply until our reputable and honest plumbers can get to the residence.

It gets better...I called to ask what was going on with the service and was told that a supervisor would call me immediately. 72 hours later...nothing. I was hopeful that they would redeem themselves and say that it was a misunderstanding but it looks like I was wrong.

there are a ton of plumbers in Charlotte and we always seem to have bad luck with our plumber not showing up. thought it was interesting that they actually pay you if they are late so we figured we'd give them a shot. Ben Franklin Plumbing of Charlotte showed up on time and did a great job on everything. Didn't even damage any of our walls or anything. Very fast plumber service. Highly recommended if you live in charlotte! btw, they replaced out water heater. almost forgot.

As a skilled computer technician it is not hard for me to notice the diagnostic lean of a technician.\r\n\r\nUnfortunately I was under the gun and had time constraints that limited my ability to bid the job. I got hosed on a job that I later got bids on that were $2000 less. \r\n\r\nI called them again on another service call that was a no brainer at mayber $1400 max and the tech quoted me at $2400 after a $400 discount as a repeat affender.\r\n\r\nBottom line, when the tech starts walking around with his clipboard instead of diagnosing and fixing the problem, then you're about to fed a line about all the horror stories of not letting them save you from present and future catastrophies.\r\n\r\nBuyer beware.\r\nJim

Pros: Skilled Techs

Cons: Techs must be on commission

From the initial contact this was the best experience i have ever had with a service company. The phone rep was pleasant and the plumber was right on time and very professional! He even saved me money by explaining the company's Ben Franklin Society membership. The service charge was very reasonable; I would recommend Benjamin Franklin Plumbing to anyone!
