I am on the fence for giving between 4-5 stars. This place is fantastic. The service was great. Fun oyster selection but not overwhelming, great cesar, awesome shellfish platter special. Our white wine was a bit on the too warm side. Fix that and it's perfection. Why doesn't this stellar seafood restaurant get more press in this town?

Hell's Kitchen is one of my favorite neighborhoods in the entire city. Filled with a variety of different foods and cultures cheap to expensive I think Blue Point fits the scene perfectly and adds lots to the HK experience. I find it unfortunate that business isn't as well as it should be. Service every time I eat/drink is five star with excellent atmosphere and delicious food. Prices could be lower - but this is NY and the restaurant is young and still working on it's reputation. I eat out all the time but I can never find a better crab cake than I get at Blue Point. The staff is very social and down to earth. Bring friends, sit at the bar or grab a table, and take my word for it.

Went to Blue Point with a small group of 8 for a holiday get together. We had a wonderful evening, made even nicer by the waitress who was so helpful and kind. They never bothered us as we exchanged gifts and took our time. Would definitely return for their wonderful food and service.

If you want to eat fresh seafood and feel like under the water you have to try this restaurant! We tried it and loved it! We started with a shellfish platter -raw oysters, clams, shrimp and lobster! After we had a crab cake(the server said that is fabulous) and tuna tartar! The crab cake was full of crab meat and with a mango relish was amazing!(she was right)! We had a wonderful time here- good food, good service and nice atmospere! We will come back!!!

I have never really written a review for City Search, although I use it all the time, but I just had to sing the praises of this place. It is the best seafood restaurant in midtown, by far. It is delicious- I have eaten at the "best" Seafood restaurants many times, and the Blue Point is right up there if not ahead of them all. The menu are fantastic, the desserts are just how they should be- you can tell that they really care about not just the quantity of food for the price but the quality as well. Service was phenominal as well. It's a must go!

i used to work at the blue point restaurant and all i can tell that there is no problem with the staff.. we dont have any attitude, and probably all of us are helpful and costumer oriented.
yes, we are pushy bc the manager pushed us to be pushy. she has a horrible personality, she pushed us to make the drinks the way she think it needs to be made (save on alcohol, put more soda!)
the food is excellent, pricey though. the kitchen is clean.
the owner is a very nice guy, whenever he managed the restaurant we had no problem.
the prices on the menus are not matched to the ones in the computer system. thats why we have all those bill problems!

so all together this place is average, the food is pricey but tasty, the chairs are not comfy, the management is horrible. i would eat here if i were a costumer myself!

What an experience. I had made reservations for my wife and I to eat at the Blue Point last friday. From the minute we walked in we loved it! The waitress was very courteous and was great to work with. The atmosphere was very trendy. Now on to the dinner. I had the clam chowder and my wife had the crab cakes for starters. The clam chowder was great, and the crab cakes were delicious, just like from Maryland! For the main course, I had the striped bass and my wife had the salmon which they were running that evening. We both loved the fish as it was prepared quite well with just the perfect amount of portions. For dessert we shared the banana split crepe, which was fantastic. Overall, we had a wonderful time at the Blue Point and recommend it to everyone. Bon Apetite!!

$19.95 prix fix what is included salad, tuna steak, salmon or other fish and dessert waw! We got there before the show, so we also had a chance enjoy the $6 happy hour cocktails! The server was helpful and we enjoyed the manager company too, because she made sure we have everything what we want! We had a good time we definitely go back!

Decided to try Blue Point while walking down 9th Ave. early last Friday night... I think I was sitting next to Robert59 (see review below) because his meal sounds exactly like what the couple at the table next to me was eating. I had the tuna tartare appetizer ($14) and the crab cake entree ($28 for 2) -- the crab cakes are offered as an appetizer as well ($14 for 1). Tuna tartare was fresh and very refreshing, perfect for the balmy early evening weather. Went well with the my $6 glass of chardonnay ($6 drinks during their happy hour special). The crab cakes were hearty and I could barely finish them. The waitress explained that they contained mostly crab and very little bread crumbs when I inquired while I was ordering. I was pleased with my meal for the most part, although it was a bit pricey in my opinion. Decor inside the restaurant was nice, but we sat outside... pretty good people watching even though 9th Ave. isn't the best. The waitress was foreign and could have provided better service... although attentive she did not present herself well and did not anticipate my questions (i.e., when I asked what the man at the table next to me -- Robert59? -- had, she told me the monkfish, but when I ordered it she had to explain that it was part of the prix fixe menu and prepared differently on the regular menu... why not explain that when I asked??!). All in all, Blue Point was a nice, relaxing meal and I would go back, but I would look around for another place in the area to try first.

Pros: Well Prepared Fresh Fish, Tasty Food, Good Atmosphere, Outdoor Seating, Not Crowded

Cons: Service Could Have Been Better, Pricey

Him: The medium-sized portion monkfish was too salty. The cheesy polenta under it was good though. The Grey Goose martini was well made. Her: The green salad was supposed to have a dijon house dressing but it was mainly salt, a lot of pepper and some oil. I would have exchanged it if the waitress had checked on us as it was my meal. I barely ate any of it. The $6 Happy Hour Pinot Grigio tasted like a $6 Happy Hour Pinot Grigio. It's a great place to people watch but we won't be rushing back. Perhaps I should have tried a dessert crepe for my entree.

Had a late night sunday dinner. Wow! the appetizers were presented with a smile and looked wonderful. I had the tuna tartar what an amazing taste. My friend had the iceberg wedge salad, and it was very good also and nicely displayed. For entrees I had the stripped bass which was the best bass I have ever had, it had a great balance of flavors! The waitress selected a very nice wine and the raspberry white chocolate cheesecake was the perfect finish for our dinner!

I took my friend out for his b-day on wendsday. We had a wonderfull time. The waitress was very nice and friendly. After she made some reccomendations on the menu we both decided on what we were going to have. ( i had the Paella and my friend had the crab cake entree). All i have to say the food was delicious! after our dinner she brought us our desserts with a candle and the whole waitstaff, even the people at the tables were singing happy birthday to my friend. I never had so much fun at a restaurant. I will definetly go back! This restaurant is changing for the better every time i visit!

I went in with a friend for brunch and ordered eggs over easy, bacon and french fries. It's a very simple dish, but the fries were mushy and my eggs were overcooked. It also took 15 minutes to get some ketchup as well as our drinks, but of course getting my bill took 30 seconds. Well to top it all off, I checked my credit card bill and I was charged $30 more than I actually paid.

I can't see any redeeming value for this restaurant except that it's in a great neighborhood. Which stinks for them because this neighborhood has plenty of excellent restaurants.

Food is over priced and not that tasty. Service was average. My girl ordered a mojito and it wasn't good. Food was fast I have to admit but it is the only con I have. By the way, I didnt know former employees are allowed to review as one of the earlier reviews (she works there!)

I took a very special person who has my heart out for her birthday dinner. Instead of ordering the traditional main courses we decided to go with a bunch of appetizers and the raw bar. Started off with the Clam chowder with was to die for. We had tuna tartar and crab cake which was amazing. When the server came over with our Chilled Shellfish Platter we couldn't believe our eyes. It was two layers of half lobster, 5 jumbo shrimp, 8 oysters, 6 littleneck clams, jumbo lump crabmeat on crush ice with numerous sauces. Our server was fantastic. We ended the meal with the restaurant famous banana split crepe.

I read the reviews from here so I decided to give it a try. I was hosting a birthday dinner for a party of 12. I called same day and got a table. When we got there we were seated as we arived, no one had to wait for the rest of the party. Everyone was friendly & willing to accomodate. The food was delicious and dessert was very good as well. We tried every cocktail specialty also :)) I'd go here again if I am ever in that neighborhood!

We went there with my friends for "happy hour" drinks. After couple of great cocktails we were hungry, but we had a dinner reservation somewhere else so we ordered just some appetizers:oysters, clams, tuna tartar. It was delicious so we decided to stay and we ordered more food from the dinner menu. Everything was tasty. We had a great time and I am sure we'll go back!!!

I live near by and came to the restaurant about a month ago. It appeared as if some noticeable changes have taken place for the better. The food was as good if not better. I noticed if I remember correctly some new faces. They look much more cheerful than the others if they are new or their shifts changed. I read some of the other horrible reviews people have written and did not seem to notice any of that. I am local and can say I will come back again. Whoever is responsible keep up the good work.

read some of the reviews given to this place before I went there and now I wonder what kind of money was paid to those people to write such lies . Everything from the service to the food, from the seating to the music - was horrible. Our waitress didn't know what Scotch was. Apparently neither did the bartender, seeing as how the waitress placed blame on her when she served us Jim Beam on the rocks. Food was cold and they got our order wrong. VERY OVER PRICED for small portions

The food was nothing to write home about but the prices were very high for what the menu offered (which was not much especially in the taste department). Also, the waiters were extremely grumpy. They all looked like their pay was just cut in half
The food was OK, however very overpriced and the loud and squished ambiance combined with the rude wait staff would probably make it a place that I would not run to return to.

Bad service, they talk about people as the customer leaves the store. No courtesy. They charge quite a lot for average food. They aim to get your money. Smirk if you make a small order.

Went after a friend recommended it for brunch. Menus avg and service is exceptionally bad. Took 20 mins to order drinks (we're talking water and juice). Another 20 before the sole waiter takes our brunch order. Waiter forgets our drink order. There is a hostess who likes to smile blankly on all customers but is otherwise useless- perhaps she could help the lone waiter. After a friendly reminder, waiter brings over the wrong drinks to us (orange instead of cranberry). We wait another 45 mins for food-we're talking eggs and crepes!! until waiter realized he has either (i)not put in the order to the kitchedn (2)has better things to do than wait (3) envious of the useless hostess. Whichever it is, he laughs embarrassingly promising food in the near future. Apparently, that did not mean in the next 20 mins, and my guest and I went across the street to a similar, more efficient place.

There are about a 100 variations of 'blue point' type diners in the area and I would go to every one of them before ever going back to blue pointless.

I took two friends from out of town to brunch. The brunch menu is a bit like a French cafe menu...croque monsiuers, omelettes and the like. The service was friendly and reasonably quick, but my croque madame was not as hot as it should have been...the bread actually seemed chilled in spots. It was, however tasty. One of my companions was given a paltry handful of fries as a side with his omelette....they could use some pointers on presentation and plating, it seems to me. Overall, a mixed bag. I'd go back, but only if I were meeting a friend from the neighborhood.

I went for a dinner date a few nights ago and was not impressed. The service was great but that could have been because we were two out of four customers in the whole place. They seemed eager to please but the steak frites we ordered were tough and stringy. Perhaps it was a mistake not to order one of the 125 crepes listed on the menu but a French place should be able to get steak frites right. The ceiling-to-floor blue and green tiled decor reminded me more of a bathroom than of a restaurant -- not the romantic bistrot I was hoping for.

.Went there with friends and regret till last day of my life! What is that place? Decor is cheesy but decided to give it a try since I loooove sea food. Server had no idea about menu, bartender doesnt know how to make drinks....first we got a super strong martini then wrong wine (what a shame). Chef was nice to explain food since server didnt know their menu, but after a while it was annoying having him coming to our table asking us questions and trying to strike a conversation. People go to restaurants to have a nice meal and catch up with friends not to get a date with a "chef". If you want an advice SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY and go ELSE WHERE! HOrrible experience.
