I have had a Goodman unit from One Hour Heating and Air for 3 years now. Worst 3 years of my life, They have been out 2 or 3 times a year to fix this junk, It is either not blowing heat or not blowing air twice a year. 2 weeks ago now the AC stopped working, Called one hour, took the guy almost a week to get here. Don't know where he was driving from but fixed it in about 15 minutes. 24 hours latter AC not working again. Called them on friday, and they said since they have only been here 8 times in the past they would just bring us a new unit and take care of us, because something had to be wrong with ours. Took them 8 times to figure this out. Guy showed up on tuesday in a large one hour box truck with no air unit.Guy stated that they could not replace it. Called the manager and he wanted to get loud on the phone with us and tell us that they has only been here 3 times in the past to fix the unit. If any one can help with any kind of attorney info around Nashville that will help in this matter please let me know, as of May 15 2010 we have been without AC thanks to One Hour Heat And Air.

I had a service call because the heat quit working on my downstairs unit (four years old). The heat exchanger had gone bad again (already replaced one three years earlier). This is a Goodman unit.

The "serviceman" arrived, Very friendly and Overly talkative. He checked out the unit and informed me with a sad shake of his head that the heat exchanger was bad. I wish I had video of this whole ordeal. He was here for a couple of hours and talked the whole time. He told me it would cost $1380 to replace it, but that the overall unit was in such bad shape that I would be wasting my money to fix it... I should have them install a new unit for me.

Keep in mind the unit I have is four years old, and the part itself is still under warranty, so the $1380 is labor only!

I am dumbfounded at their price to replace this part and ask why it is so expensive.
"Well, it's a very time consuming job", he says... "Takes about six hours for most guys to do it, but I know some tricks so I can do it faster." I then tell him it took the last guy about an hour and a half or two to swap one out. "You were here when he did it?" Yep.

He then goes into this diatribe about all the time it takes for the office to order the part, pick up the part, return the old part, driving time, paper work, etc. ??It??s really about ten hours? and that is all part their charge? $1380!!??

Back in the house now, he really turns on the sales pitch for me to either buy their service plan, which knocks the price down maybe twenty bucks, but includes a free tune-up or something, or to make an appointment for one their ??comfort specialists? or whatever they call their first string salesmen, to come out and decide what kind of unit I??d like them to install.

I thought he??d never leave. I ended just standing there and not responding to anything he said. He??d ask me something, and I??d just stare at him. Finally I asked if he had some paperwork he needed me to sign, and I sent him on his way.

OK, so now I call about five other places and ask what they charge to replace an in warranty heat exchanger on my unit. They range from $375 to $600.

I go with the cheapest, which happens to be the company that I always used at one of my past homes, and always had great service from? Lee Company.

Their service tech came out, replaced the part, and installed a flange to direct the air flow across the heat exchanger better which should make it last longer. It took about an hour and a half.

I told him the experience I??d had with One Hour Heat and Air, and he just kind of shook his head and chuckled. He handed me the invoice, and it was less than they quoted me on the phone. I can??t remember exactly, but it was $350 or less.

I will use Lee Company from now on. Always.

The reason I called One Hour Heat and Air in the first place is that I originally bought this unit from a company that was owned by someone I knew. He has since retired and sold his company to One Hour.

Something else of interest? The service tech that normally came out to my home from the original company owned by my friend, quit One Hour after working for them for several months. He said he didn??t like the way they conducted their business.

It saddens me to think of the people that fall for these tactics? especially older folks.

If I could give a more negative star rating I would.
