I'm new to the area and heard great things about Zoku. I made an appointment with Gianna for highlights. I was greeted with a great smile and a great personality by Gianna. She makes you feel comfortable instantly. My hair was a disaster and she fixed it almost effortlessly. She made it seem so easy. She also reccommeded a great Kerastase treatment and shamppo/conditioner! I just cant get over how great of a job she did and I needed to write something! If your looking for someone new with talent and knowledge, Gianna is your girl!!!

They always get it right and a wonderful place to enhance the beauty of your hair! Great cut and great coloring too!! Not much of waiting and they give that touch, which is out of this world. Only other place for such a great cut is Manhattan

Yesterday was my first trip to Zoku. I have awful, frizzy, thin.dry, damaged, over treated hair. I was dying my hair blond to hide the grays and wanted to go to my more natural warm brown color. I made an appointment with Zoe and I AM THRILLED with what she did!!! You should see me today - a rich dark brunette with silky, shiny hair!!! Johanna did my style and she is AMAZING!! After thirty something years I FINALLY have pretty hair. I will be back to see Christine for Keratin and extensions!! Listen..all the makeup and nice clothes in the world never made me feel this good!! Thanks Zoe, Christine, Johanna and staff!!

So, the most frustrating thing about this salon is that it's on the other end of the country.
I was in New Jersey for a wedding and decided to take the opportunity to get my hair cut and colored. I had just arrived, had a cold and was generally not looking forward to it because I usually despise being stuck in a stylist's chair.
I can't even begin to describe what a fantastic experience it was at Zoku. You can tell that the stylists and staff are consummate professionals with unrivaled talent and training. I have never seen that level of skill exhibited in a salon in California. The colorist truly had a gift and an incredible focus.
After having my color done, I was introduced to Johnnie. I explained to him that I was getting married next year and felt that I should have the cliche grown out hair for it. In the most polite and diplomatic way, he asked if I wanted his opinion. I'm so incredibly glad he did. I entrusted him to cut in the way he saw would be most flattering. The transformation was incredible. I've never left a salon feeling so good about myself. My fiance picked me up and was totally in awe of the results. The atmosphere at Zoku made me feel comfortable enough to give the stylist free reign and the talent of the stylists made that so worthwhile.
It's been three months and I haven't been to another stylist. I'd rather fly back to Summit than submit to the whims of anyone else.
Thanks again for everything and I hope to be back there soon.

Living in Summit, I was looking for that edgy, sophisticated hair salon. Having had haircuts at F. Fekkai in NYC, and other top salons, my expectation levels are high. I eyed Zoku salon for several months, and took the plunge last week. The salon staff is attentive and friendly, and I immediately got a great vibe from Dina, the receptionist, and the stylist Jackie, the first two people that I met. I showed a few different photos of autumn 2008 hair trends to Jackie, and she selected one for her inspiration. Her interpretation resulted in a youthful cut that fit my face shape, and is so easy to care for. I already booked a blow out with Jackie for this week, for a special event that I have. Thank you, Zoku, for arriving in Summit, just in time!

Had been going to Frederic Fekkai - I loved my stylist and colorist; however, it takes all day since I am driving to and from the city. Zoku is great - good colorist is Isaac (try the ballyage for highlights).

I get my hair blown out every week with Jackie.She always makes my hair look healthy and me better than when I came in.
The price is comparable to any top salon here and better than NY.
Jackie cuts my hair as well and I have been very happy.
Isak colors my hair and I am happy.
I have had Pat and Miriam for blow outs when Jackie is unavailable and they do a super job as well.

I recently went into Zoku for my third time for color, after getting highlights twice, and looking FABULOUS!! I decided I wanted to go back to my natural dark brown. As nervous as I knew Bari would be able to do it right. She did it perfectly and I've never been happier. I also had Jackie cut and style my hair for me. It feels amazing, looks healthy and shiny and takes little to no effort for me to do on my own. Five stars... I can't wait for my next appointment. Thank you Girls!!

I was recommend to go see Jackie at Zoku salon and happy that i was. She is marvelous she gave me a great hair cut and she is so easy to get along with made me feel so comfortable i would recommend Jackie to any one that wants a great haircut and a great experience.

My stylist Roman used to only work in the city so I would travel in to the get my haircut but when he told me he was going to be in New Jersey one day a week I was beside myself with joy!!! He is great at listening to what I want and always performs! I have been loyal to him for over 7 years! Thank You Roman I Love You! Your a Jersey Boy now! xo

The minute I walked in to ZOKU salon I was greeted offered a glass of wine then changed into a comfortable robe. I was introduced to my stylist JACKIE and we talked about what we think would work best for me. She got it right away and then some. She blow my expectation away. Not only did I leave with a great haircut but i can actually style it myself too. Thank you JACKIE and ZOKU salon for a great experience see you in 8 weeks.

My hair is so important to me, I wear it every day. At Zoku they really know what they are doing and Zoe makes me beautiful!!! Every time I go back my hair is perfect, every time, perfect. My cuts are perfect as well. Christine is fantastic, I always listen to her recommendations for my cut. Thank you Zoe and Christine for making me beautiful.

This place is worth every penny. Now that I have found ZoKu I am so happy. My first visit was in November and I have returned many times since. It is so important to have a colorist and hairstylists you can trust and I trust my hair with Zoe and Christine. Not only do I get a great cut and amazing color but I also get neck & shoulder massage and cappuccino while waiting between color developments. I recommend ZoKu to everyone who wants their hair done right.

I had a great experience at Zoku Salon, I went in for a full day of beauty with a friend, we got our hair done and had a great time, we left feeling like new women. The atmosphere was charming and the staff was very friendly, I will most definitely return. Keep Up!!!

I love blonde highlights! I went and saw the owner for a partial highlight and they lifted my base color. The lift on the base turned the hair a brassy red. The highlights which claimed to be expertly applied were not very good either. The color was almost a half an inch from my hair line with a noticeable line across the front and sides. The color was not blended very well. I had to go to another salon and pay more money to add highlights to blend the color better. It was so bad I couldn't wear my hair pulled back. Needless to say, you don't always pay more for better hair coloring. I will not be returning.

I have visited Zoku a few times to have my color done by Allison. She listens to what I want and makes suggestions to what would look best on me. Every time she is right on the money. I constantly get compliments on my color even when its old. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I've never been happier with my hair. Thank you!!

I absolutely loved my experience at Zoku Salon in Summit. The natural friendliness and energy that comes from their staff put me at ease within minutes of walking in the door. My color has turned out fabulous each time I've gone there and continue to get compliments on it even a couple months later. I cannot wait until the next time I go back. It is truly a joy for me to get my hair done there.

NYC quality from start to finish with zero attitude or snobbery. Top-notch haircut, shampoo, blow-dry, all-around service and beautiful salon. Totally seamless-- these are real pros who make it all look easy. It's apparent they've diligently created their own place to make everything perfect from the design of the salon to the quality of the services provided and they've succeeded completely. Highly recommend.

I got my hair cut here, and it was terrible. One side was completely shorter than the other and I had to return TWICE without so much as an apology to get it fixed. The first time I returned to get it fixed the owner herself cut it, she was rude and still did an awful job. I am still unsatisfied with the cut, but will never return becuase of their snobby staff. Overpriced and overated.

Christine Ku talked to me, played with my hair, told me what I should do (and I agreed completely), then cut my hair and did a great job. I've been looking for a new stylist since I moved to NJ 5 years ago and FINALLY found one! I've been getting compliments from everyone since. My husband loves my haircut so much he told me to keep going there, regardless of the price (which is $135), because it's worth it. Customer service was excellent, with a big glass or water and a glass of wine offered when I arrived - how can you resist that after a day with the children?!?! The place is clean, vibrant, comfortable and not snobby. Their assistants were attentive and friendly. Thank you Zoe and Christine for coming to Summit!!

BEST HAIR SALON EVER.

I have been going to the Zoku team for the last 3 years, and was so excited when they opened their salon in Summit, NJ. The facility is clean, hip, and relaxing.
I've recently been getting my hair colored by Isak who was for many years Zoe's assistant, and what else can I say about Isak except, I LOVE HIM. I made the mistake last summer of going to two other well known salons in NYC where I was not at all happy with my results. SO i knew it was time to fly back to the nest, I booked with Isak and Christine, and couldnt be more satisified. I am a blonde, which is difficult to get right, but, with Isak it NEVER fails-colored to perfection. He creates a look that is natural, bright, and and even, perfectly matching the color to my skin tone. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone! You won't be disappointed!
Which ever stylest you choose to see at ZOKU, will produce a beautiful outcome. I have now seen Zoe, Christine and Irene, and have yet to have an unpleasant experience. They all have a gift for individually fitting your style, understanding your hairtype and make you feel like a rockstar. I am so thankful to be a client at ZOKU, I'll never go anywhere else.

One of the best hair salons in the NYC area

I first found Christine and Zoe several years ago when they working at Prive Salon in SoHo (now the co-founders of ZoKu Salon in Summit), and I've never found a duo since that can do such amazing things with my hair. After countless unhappy experiences with some of the best salons in NYC, I now commute out to their salon in Summit from NYC when I want to get my hair done right. Zoe does a phenomenal job with color, and Christine is great with everything from a simple trim to hair extensions. Very highly recommended.
Pros: Great staff, service, and skill.

Elegant & funky salon with NYC sytlists

This new salon is classy,elegant with a splash of funk.
Zoe is co owner and a master hair colorist.. She comes in with years of experience from a SOHO salon.
Christine the other co owner is a stylist, also with NYC experience.
The staff is friendly and attentive.
If Zoe is booked for hair coloring make an appointment with Issac...you won't be disappointed.
My hair is shiny,silky and "kissed by the sun" thanks to the Zoku staff.
Treat yourself.....who deserves it more than you?
