Nice and Clean, My massage therapist Zita is well versed in her field. She was able to quickly identify trigger points and muscle tightness. I would go to this place on a regular. I cant wait to go back to try the body scrub.

My wife took me to here for our anniversary. I didn??t go in with the highest expectations because, well, I just thought she mainly got this for her..Lol. Actually, I wasn??t even slightly happy. I kept my thoughts to myself but in my head I screamed ??WHHHHYYYYYYY!!!!! I BOUGHT YOU A $400 NECKLACE. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE MY GIFT!? But like any well-mannered husband, I went. It took a little while to warm me up, but once the massaging commenced and the kinks were being worked out, I couldn??t help but think to myself ??damn, I could do this on the regular.? And that??s exactly what I??ve been doing for the past month. I go once a week and I haven??t felt this great in years. These guys are really awesome and they really know what they are doing. If you haven??t had a chance to check them out, take it from the guy with the beard who you??d never expect to be in a Spa. Thank you Aura! And thank you Caroline! (That??s my wife incase you couldn??t pick up on that)

WORST WORST WORST! AVOID AVOID AVOID! There isn't a term emphatic enough to express how much you should avoid this place. Here's what happened. I went in for a massage yesterday. My masseuse, Jennie, didn't leave me alone to get under the sheet, and, actually there was no sheet to lay under!!! Just a thin sheet on top of the table. She then LEAPT on top of me and started pounding my neck and shoulders FAR too hard.I had to ask her maybe 10 times to please not be so aggressive. Then she threw a sheet over me, pulled it down, and COMPLETELY exposed my back side. I pulled the sheet up and she laughed. When she had me sit up, the top of the sheet came down, exposing me once again, and when I immediately fixed it, she said "why? there's no one here." !!!!!!!!! I told her BECAUSE IT MADE ME FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE. !!!!!!!! At one point, she cooed into my ear "anything you want." Obviously I should've left at that point, but I was actually in a bit of shock. Plus, I'd been there before -- with other masseuses -- and had a completely decent experience. Naively, I thought the session would end up fine. Wrong. This was an absolute nightmare. I demanded my money back, but the receptionist (and keep in mind, I know this wasn't her fault and didn't want to shoot the messenger) couldn't get in touch with her manager -- she explained that since it was Friday, there was no manager there. (????????) When I asked to put her manager on the phone, she couldn't get through to anyone, and she insisted couldn't refund me since I'd used a gift card. I will attempt this week to get a refund, but I'm not holding my breath. I felt completely violated and absolutely revolted. Not to mention, I was also in more pain than when I'd walked in. To complete the absolutely horrific experience, some extremely shady looking men walked in. Now perhaps they were there for facials. But probably not. Now why am I risking telling this completely humiliating story in a public forum? To spare you the indignity of going through the same experience. NEVER AGAIN!

And if we're to believe this site, Aura is actually a sex/ rub & tug spa -- look it up at the website pocketchangenyc. UNbelievable.

I made an appointment the other day and after taking a shower and walking up the stairs to the 2nd floor waiting area, I was coldly and rudely greeted by a cold and curt woman named "Penny". She barked, "What's your locker #?", and started walking ahead of me quickly.

I asked her if she was okay as we entered the room. She said she was fine and to lay on my stomach. She walked out for about 5 minutes while I took off my robe and laid down.

When she began the massage she was only using one hand and she was basically giving me a half-hearted effort and actually seemed aggressive with her touch.

I apologized to her that she was having a bad day and asked if she could use two hands to massage my shoulders and not just one.

Well, I got a bunch of muttered words in an angry tone so at that point I got up and left the room and demanded someone else.

Another massage therapist was brought in who was much more pleasant but I still felt like the relaxing experience I was seeking was ruined.

$120 for a nasty and rude massage therapist. NEVER AGAIN!!!! Everyone has bad days but don't take it out on your customers!!!!

Aura Wellness Spa is fantastic! Their location in Midtown makes it very convenient to stop on the way home from work for a facial or a massage. Their water massage therapy is absolutely amazing. The staff are beyond polite, and do everything possible to ensure your comfort. Also, their specials are not to be missed: http://www.spaaura.com/spa-specials-nyc.php

I went to Aura Spa for 90 minute Hot Stone Massage... and I think I've found my regular place now. I've been getting massages all over the city for the past 6 years and never really loved a place until now every thing from the level of service (the massage was AMAZING) To the extremely relaxing environment ( the music the massage rooms the dressing rooms) definitely make me want to come back...very soon! Ask for Yoko or Kay

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Aura Wellness Spa. My husband and I went for the "Couples Day Spa Treatment" and had our own private room with a shower and sauna facility. It was the perfect romantic, relaxing way to celebrate our 6 year anniversary in NYC!

several weeks ago I bought 2 gift certificates online from their website for x-mas presents. They have not been sent yet and I have now called twice about it. No one there can figure out wether or not the gift certificates have been sent or if they will be. Total rip off.

My experience at Aura wasn't everything I thought it would be. I've been to several spas/back rubs in NYC and this was probably the worst. The aura of Aura didn't improve my time there. I wasn't that impressed with the space-age ambience.
While it seems like a very classy and well run establishment, I do not think the $130 for 1 Hour massage is worth it. My masseuse kept leaving the room to yell at someone, which didn't really relax me. She actually banged on the wall at one point to quiet noisy neighbors (that I didn't even hear to begin with). After banging on the wall, she then said something insulting about Spanish people, which offended me.
The massage itself wasn't very relaxing either. Aside from the woman not being all that attractive, she was trying to talk to me the whole time, which is not something I need. On top of this, she massaged my feet and legs more than my back and shoulders, which I couldn't understand the whole time after I had pinpointed specifically to massage my left shoulder.
There are better places to go... I actually felt like going to another Spa immediately after. For this, the masseuse at Aura got a $20 tip. NOTHING ELSE!!!

Pros: Location?

Cons: Service, Effectiveness, Value

PROS: Very clean, courteous, and pretty. I especially love the gorgeous quartz mosaics inside the Dry Heat sauna. Very unique. Prompt and nice service. No problems on my first visit. I think the BEST thing about this spa is that it is open until 2 am. So convenient! I went around 7 pm and stayed until 10 pm.

The Body Scrub treatment was definitely a bit of a shock. I felt a bit weird being totally undressed while a woman scrubbed every inch of my skin and periodically dumped buckets of hot water on me. Not particularly relaxing, that's for sure. However, the scrub felt pretty damn good and the end result was really soft skin. I *might* do it again.

CONS: The decor, while beautiful, was a bit too clinical and austere for my taste. The lighting was blue tinted. I felt like I was on a spaceship. Normally that would be super cool, but maybe not the best atmosphere to feel pampered and relax in.

I tried to make a reservation online and the spa was very responsive and asked that I call to confirm. When I did, while they did confirm a specific time and service offering, they made me rearrange the time, rearrange services as they were totally inflexible in their offerings, and were completely inflexible with creating customized packages despite what they claim on their website. The receptionist was rude and unaccomodating, and it completely detracted from what might have been a really nice experience. Tip to the manager (who never returned my call!) - hire someone new to manage the front desk. She's bad for biz.

I am a physician with a bad back caused by college basketball injury. I visit many spas and yoga spots in town and away. Never have had any experience as bad as the massage in this establishment. I assure you the therapists are not licensed. The techniques she used on my shoulder was rather peculiar and borderline dangerous. To make matters worse she spoke not a word of English so I could not communicate to her that she was hurting me. Though I am sure she got the idea when i screamed in pain. I went in with a back pain and left with a back pain and a shoulder injury. I will not go there again and do not recommend it.

I had to wait 30 minutes for my attendant to get me and it was unclear where I should be waiting (which was in the locker room). They offered a Swedish massage but it was nothing close. The masseuse did not leave the room while I disrobed and performed some near dangerous moves that should be left to your chiropractor. And overall was not very sensitive to what she touched. The saunas and steam rooms are coed so you have to wear a robe if you are a female and you are bound to share it with foreign older men. The manager was rude and over all not courteous.

So my friends and I are a bit tired of the club thing. from another friend's suggestion, a group of 6 of uswent to Aura on Saturaday night and we had a blast! This spa is gigantic so we re able to all have the same treatment at the same time - something that's pretty rare! Love the saunas and their ice sauna, pretty cool, never saw this anywhere else.
Like any other spa, just walk in (heavy door though!). Oh and I think I should say this: there's a HUGE healthy bar area and a lounge on the second floor. This spa is def modern to the max. I think they definitely have an edge there. Will do this again with my girls and our BFs, that'll be a huge group, but they cna handle it!!!

I did not enjoy my visit to Aura at all. I am a 58 year old male with a sore back. The staff did not speak English at all and were more interested in tips than providing me with a therapuetic experience. I doubt they are licensed therapists and the staff do not know massage techniques that I am accustomed to. Again, avoid this place.

If you have never experienced Capsule Therapy, this is definitely the place to go! I went to Aura for an oriental-style body scrub and capsule treatment. Aura's staff is professional, yet personal, and really takes care of you during your treatments. I liked that the body scrub product is organic (big plus). As for the capsule therapy, it is AMAZING to say the least. The capsule feels exactly like a sauna...but better. It heats up just right and also "showers" you down, hitting those specific pressure points. Before I knew it, I was in deep relaxation. I don't know of other spa's that offer this equipment, but if given the chance, I highly recommend giving it a shot. It really takes care of your entire body. I just felt fantastic afterwards.

The spa was a beautiful property that features exceptional style and a spacious floor plan. Aura Wellness Spa was well appointed with beautiful decor and furnishings.

The moment we arrived at the Aura Wellness Spa, the initial impression was the staff had lacked an understanding of the general idea of communication. This was our first time to this particular spa and we were unfamiliar with packages offered. We decided that we would have the Jade Package which included a massage and facial. However we thought there would be a clear description prior to having any of the services of what each entailed such as types of massages, how long it would last, what type of facial we would have, the type of lotions they would use, this was not the case.

We never felt comfortable in any way while in the Spa. We had no idea what to expect or where to go and this was unfortunate. Not once was anyone ready in anticipation of our arrival, they were setting up the rooms as we were walking in and that is disappointing because we made a reservation two weeks in advance.

I would imagine that the main goal of a spa is to be soothing, comforting or relaxing however Aura Wellness Spa completely missed this concept. I did not find the spa to be relaxing nor comforting because of these challenges I experienced.

I have been to many different types of spas and I would have to say this was the most impressive because there is an amazing product yet sadly disappointing because of the lack of readiness or communication.

As a person who works in the Hospitality Industry, you can have an amazing product but lack the customer service to turn that property/services into ??LUXURY?.

In my opinion, Aura Wellness Spa falls short of that expectation and that speaks volumes.
