Ratings_icons AMF Showplace Lanes Austin

John S.

It has a some time since I was there but my last visit was a very pleasant one. The place was very clean and the staff very helpful, however if they have adopted the AMF corporate way of business I am quite certain the customer service and the atmosphere for PURE bowlers is changing rapidily. As compared to our center in Garland which has become less friendly to the weekly league bowler and seems to be catering to the party crowd it has become less desirable to continue an association at the center.

My favorite thing about 300Austin is the sports bar. Yes, a sports bar in a bowling alley. They have 3 big screen TVs and numerous smaller TVs with speakers you can take to your table and tune in the game you want to see.

The cheesecake sundae is to die for.

They also have big screen TVs in the actual bowling alley, so you can watch football while you bowl!

Ratings_icons Nice bowling alley

Dustin K. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,483

As Austin bowling lanes go, this is probably the nicest and most modern. All the typical amenities are to be found here, with food and arcade games available. The rental shoes and available bowling balls are usually in pretty good condition. Expect to pay a lot, as this place seems more expensive than average. However, they do have certain deals which may make the price more reasonable, depending on your bowling habits.

This is a pretty decent bowling alley. Their bowling shoes are in pretty good condition. They have a fair share of arcade games. Snack bar food is pretty standard. They do allow smoking and that is a plus. Drink some beers and have some fun!

Ratings_icons Fast service but a little dirty

Richard C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,614

This place is always filled with people, and the good thing is that there is not much a long wait since there are so many lanes. The prices are affordable and great if you play after nine. I wish there weren't so many smokers/drinkers playing there, but it is my fault for going there so late at night. So if you have kids, play during the day! I wish they didn't serve beer or allow smoking.

Ratings_icons Best in the Area for Entertainmet

Roxanne S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,179

This bowling alley is a nice place to take the whole family. The arcades are great for the younger kids and the food is great. It's huge and one of the nicer bowling alleys in the area. The people are friendly and eager to help if you have a problem. I prefer this one over the others in austin.

Ratings_icons great place to unwind with friends

Charlene B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,105

Showplace Lanes is located right off IH 35 and Rundburg Lane. The lanes have been upgraded and modernized. The snack bar has some good food at a reasonable price, and the service is great. The alley is crowded most week nights for league bowling, but go early and you can have a blast. They have bumper bowling for kids too.

Ratings_icons Great for familys or leagues!

Kristen H. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,039

Showplace Lanes is a huge bowling alley with 2 arcades and plenty of space. They allow smoking, which I am not a fan of, but they offer good entertainment for a cheap price. Bowling is great since families and friends can all play together. I would recommend going early in the day, since nights are filled with bowling leagues or teens out to party.

Ratings_icons Watch your bill or you will be robbed

nmvanbramer

I took my family to Austn 300 for the second time yesterday. We had been there once before and had a great time until the bill came. Both my husband and myself brought our own shoes, yet they were on the bill. There were other items that the server failed to take off the bill the first time we went. We decided after a year to give it another try. Guess what....you guessed it. Brought my shoes, told my server, yet they were on the bill again. We ordered milk, but they were out. And again at the end of the night, it was on the bill. I was humiliated because when I told the server that they should not charge for things unless they are used he got the manager of the facility to talk to me as if i was THE ONE COMMITTING A CRIME. I hope that folks read this so that they make certain to review their bill at this location before paying for anything. There policy is to charge for it and have the customer tell them to remove from the bill. Watch out for the server named Jeff as he has been trained to charge you high and have you decide what should be on the bill. It is not his responsbility as a server to charge you correclty..

Pros: Clean

Cons: They try to steal your money

Ratings_icons Wow 300 Austin SPAMS their own reveiws!

pjinpajamas

In town from New York City and looking for places to go hang out, when i noticed this place, 300Austin on CitySearch was fixing their reviews, so people cam come to their spot. I'm reading the reviews, first few of which are same fair and genuinely starred between 1 and 3 stars. cool. sounds about right(via complaints of over-crowdedness, too expensive, bad food, etc.) when all of a sudden, I see 3 comments in a row with 5 stars a piece, promoting 'Ladies night" and such: Including the spot's phone number. ??? Is that allowed? That's not fair! Says a lot about a club/bar/whatever that has to Spam it's way to good ratings.. BS--CitySearch, please regulate!!!

Pros: $35 a piece for 6 people seems pretty cheap.

Cons: SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM!!!

Ratings_icons 300 Sportsbar Poor Decision by Management

mikeechaney

I was at this sports bar for game 5 of the Hornets vs Spurs game which started at 8:30 in the evening. The game was intense up to halftime, my party of 8 which included family members and friends were feeling good as well as approximately 12 other people in this bar. We were all eating from your menu as well as ordering beverages and from the looks of it, the rest of your patrons were doing the same thing. This all sounds pretty good and standard for a good sports bar right? Well next came the ultimate buzz letdown. Management made the most moronic, careless and irresponsible move known to the sporting world. His decision was to close the bar at 11:00pm regardless as to whether the game was finished or not. I've never in my life heard of a sports bar kicking out their patrons before the completion of a game, let alone a game of this magnitude, just so they can close on time?? I felt like an idiot because I referred this sports bar to my friends and family, where I could've easily taken them to Bikini right down the street with beautiful girls serving us hand and feet. We didn't go there because we felt it would be packed due to the game and we wanted the close cozy personable atmosphere that I though this place had. Instead, we get a bartender turning off the volume at halftime and shouting out to all the patrons that he was forced by management to close the doors at 11:00 pm and we would have to find somewhere else to go to finish watching the game. You talk about letting the air out of the bag on what was an intense and heart pumping game and atmosphere. Not only did this establishment lose money on the food and beverage we and the other patrons were willing to spend but they lost my respect, all the other patrons' respect and any further patronage back to this establishment by all of us and our friends. Word of mouth will eventually spread to all the people affected by management's poor decision to close the doors on us!

Ratings_icons Ultra-hip Bowling, but ultra-busy, and ultra-expensive

gunnarsvg

300 Austin is a fun concept, but we just spent $215 for six people to bowl two games, including food and drinks. It was remarkably expensive for a night that didn't include 6th street. While we had fun, the place was loud, and crowded. For that matter, the food, while expensive, was not very good. The various fried appetizers were obviously frozen, the burger was poorly cooked and soggy, while the personal pizzas were barely 6 inches in diameter but cost $8! Drinks, while similarly expensive, were quite strong (and redeemably good). The lanes were crowded on the Saturday evening that we were there, and the staff placed our large group next to two other large groups, so we spent the evening crowded on all sides.

Pros: Cool Concept, Hip Crowd

Cons: Expensive, bad food

Ratings_icons Rap & Bowl

Magnard

I went out with a group of friends to 300 Bowl and I was impressed by the facilites and staff at this bowling alley. I wasn't impressed by the music for the fiday night RocknBowl, it was about 95% rap and we heard the same songs. The DJ clearly needs more variety. Other than that the place is top notch.

This is a great new hot spot in Austin, Texas! They offer extreme bowling with an awesome light show, hot new music and videos and your very own server lane side. A new sports bar that is a hidden secret in Austin with a full service bar and a lounge area. Their menu is out of this world. This is not your standard bowling alley food. They even have billiard tables and dart boards. I was very impressed with this center. They offered myself and my friends great service and a great time!
