Good service Good price

I took in a Jeep Grand Cherokee that had a previous re-build to the transmission that only lasted 30K miles. These guys found the problem and did a great job on the transmission and surrounding running gear problems that would have probably cost me a lot more going through my regular mechanic. I will take my work vehicles to them in the future as well as my passenger cars. This kind of work is never cheap, but I got a lot of value for my money.

BEST AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHOP
by janecs
excellent service. personel extremely helpful & non-intimidating. they go the extra mile(literally) for the customer.
i had a problem getting san francisco toyota to honor a warranty on the ecm. they claimed it was not defective & i needed a transmission replacement at the cost of $4800, plus the $152 they charged to tell me this. i then took the car to mike at automatic transmission. he test drove it & diagnosed it as having a defective ecm. he then took it to city toyota in daly city & test drove it with the service manager, who agreed to replace the ecm under warranty, NO COST. i now have my car back, running fine, thanx to mike.

Count on their warranty, anyway.

I have to give these guys a lot of credit. They stand by their work rain or shine. They rebuilt my girlfriend's transmission, and it turned into one of those nightmare jobs that kept coming back for mystery problems, because German cars do that, don't you know. It might be their fault; it might not.
I anticipated quarrels and red tape and fees, but they've taken the car in under warranty several times now, pleasant as can be, and replaced stuff for free that has to have more than eaten through the profit they made on the rebuild. I mean the whole valve body, and the whole governor assembly. Many hundreds of dollars' worth of stuff covered. Ken in the front office has been very helpful the whole time. They're really busy, and don't turn over very fast, but I always get an informative update within a few days.
Now, I'd probably be happier if they got the thing fixed a hundred percent the first time, but it's a real relief knowing that if something does go wrong they'll put this much effort into making it right.
Pros: Great customer service
Cons: Slow, due to volume

Best Automatic Transmission Service Around
by lyndatom
Gosh what a GREAT Service. No words could express how great of an experience I had. I was in a position of needing transmission in my 2002 Mazada MPV rebuilt after going to the dealers and them wanting more than $5,000 for rebuilt transmission. It was more than I could afford and thus I calling various transmission companies. I chose Automatic Transmission because after my inquiry of cost, etc. I was so totally calmer because Mike (Owner) was very complete in his discription of what needed to be done, what he could do for me and the reasonable cost. He explained everything is simple terms that I could understand. When I spoke with Ken (the Customer Service Representative) he was very quick in arranging for my car to be towed from the dealer their their shop. The work took a little longer than expected because as it turned out it was more than a rebuild, but also needed a computer chip. They were more than accomodating due to the delay that was beyond their control and went more than 150% to ensure that the service I received was that of which them themselves would want if they were in my situation. I highly recommend this transmission to all my friends and will always take my car to them for annual transmission maintenance. They are very encouraging of using synthetic oil that extends the life of the need for service and the life of the transmission. I changed and am glad I did. Go Automatic Transmission....You are great.
Pros: Thurmbs Up... No words could express how great of an experience I had
Cons: NONE...

They are truly Doctors in their Profession!

When these guys say "We will fix your transmission right the first time", They are 100% correct!
Took my 2004 Grand Cherokee to a transmission shop south of market, waited four day before I was told my transmission needed to be rebiult, It was going to cost 2250.00 for a soft parts overhaul plus hard parts?.
As a doctor my self, this did not sound correct! Had to get a second opinion.
Called Ken at Automatic Transmission Center, he told me they offered a Free Diagnostic Inspection that takes about 3 hour to check. Dropped off my Jeep the next morning, about 3 1/2 hours later, I received a call telling me that I only had a bad speed sensor and I could have my car back the same day! The cost of repairs with servicing my transmission ended up costing 261.76. WOW! GOOD WORK GUYS!
Highly Recommend Automatic Transmission Center to everyone!

Had a transmission rebuild with these guys. Asked for the old parts and didn't get them back. Had the starter replaced at the same time. The starter failed under warranty. Took it back to them and it took four days to get any service. Ken said he had replaced the starter. The starter failed again the next day. Turns out nothing had been done. Ken admitted lying to me about the starter replacement.
Had to take it to another mechanic. Cost me another two days without the work truck!
Would definitely advise caution with this company. Now I'm not sure if I trust the original transmission repair which cost $2400. Did they do what they said?
