After trying several attempts at getting decent sushi in the Warwick/Chester area - my husband and I were thrilled to discover Magoya. They have a great sushi menu - some personal favorites include the Mango Roll, Chester Roll and Dynamite Roll. On most occassions the service at Magoya is always outstanding. There were one or two instances where the wait for food was longer than we would have liked, however the awesome eats made us forget the delay. Magoya also had a to-go menu, which is well suited for busy families like ours. As soon as I am done with this review, I will be placing an order!!
As an FYI- some of their specialty rolls are a bit pricey and can cost up to $19 each - often by the time we get or order placed, we are often close to the $80 range, without drinks or tip!

Worth the trip for the dumpling soup and, sometimes, the seafood pancake. The rest is a mixed bag. Plain sushi is generally good. Their fancy items range from good to weird and tasteless.
Menu has tempura and several Korean items.
Make sure no one is celebrating a birthday. They blast an annoying birthday tune, at rock concert levels, over the entire speaker system for three minutes. It is VERY irritating.

Easily the best sushi and sashimi in the area (I've tried them all, several times). The restaurant is quite charming, nicely decorated, has many authentic Japanese touches - good atmosphere, especially on weekends. The service is excellent, whether eating in or taking out, and unlike the other reviewer, I've never waited more than a few minutes for any course - the service is almost too good in that respect. As a regular customer I take issue with labeling this restaurant with bad service - it's simply not true (I base that opinion on eating there 20 times in the last year). My only criticism, and it seems it's more to do with a misguided attempt to please the local crowd, is a flat screen TV mounted over the sushi bar perpetually tuned to some god-awful local news station - why? Why not have it run Iron Chef, or the travel channel? If you insist on placating bovine America at least feed them some culture at the same time.Guess what I'm eating tonight. But CHANGE THE CHANNEL ALREADY!!!

Don't get me wrong... I love Japanese food and any place that serves udon with chicken, tempura and an egg cracked over and cooked in the soup is on my favorites. But we always seem to wait an unreal amount of time for our food and the staff doesn't seem to care if we've been sitting there for an hour without a hint of our appetizers. So, if you have a long time for dinner and aren't starving when you walk in, go to Magoya. The food will not disappoint!

I usually don't to this but I had such a good
experience at your restaurant tonight that I had to
send you this letter thanking you. I came to your
restaurant with my wife and son to celebrate my
birthday and although it was our first time there, our
server made us feel as if we were a regular. She was
attentive and pleasant and was great with our son,
giving him a small bowl of corn after seeing that he
like the corn kernels from our salads and asking us if
it was O.K. to wipe him off with a wet nap and him
smiling and taking to her like he's known her for
longer then our first visit to your establishment. She
was very attentive to us as well and made us feel
comfortable even though we were a little hesitant
about our son being there. She also overheard that it
was my birthday and gave us a complimentary dessert as
well as sing happy birthday to me. On top of your
impeccable service your food was outstanding I had
sushi and it was some of the best I've ever had. My
wife who is not into sushi, was also pleased with her
chicken teriyaki and surprisingly stated that she was
so happy with her meal that she would come back. Yet
the real accomplishment was that my 1 1/2 year old
son also had some of our appetizer (scallion pancakes)
and my wives entree and was as please as we both were.
I would again like to thank you for making my birthday
memorable and enjoyable and I'm sure that I will be
seeing you soon.

MY FAMILY HAD VERY VERY GOOD TIMES AT THE MAGOYA JAPANESE RESTAURANT.

THEY HAVE GREAT SUSHI CHEF AND STAFFS, THE SERVICE WAS FAST. THEY WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND ATTENTIVE.

THE MAGOYA SUSHI HAS AN EXTREMELY IMAGINATIVE LIST OF SUSHI ROLLS PLUS THE USUAL PIECES OF SUSHI AND SASHIMI. ADDITIONAL SELECTIONS INCLUDE UDON NOODLES, TERIYAKI, CHICKEN AND BEEF AND FISH CUTLETS, TEMPURA AND A GREAT KOREAN BBQ 'KAL BI' SELECTIONS. THERE IS A NICE SELECTION OF JAPANESE BEERS, SAKI AND WINE.

THEY HAVE SPECIAL ROLLS WITH FRY BANANA AND TROPICAL FRUIT.

THE MAGOYA WAS OUR FAMILY'S FAVORITE SUSHI EATERY IN CHESTER NEW YORK.

THE ROLLS ARE GENEROUS AND ALL EXQUISITELY PRESENTED. ALSO, SPICY TUNA WAS SPICY AND QUITE TASTY. ALSO, WE LIKE THE GOOD SELECTION OF FRESH FISH,

OVER ALL OUR FAMILY HAD GREAT TIME AT THE MAGOYA AND WE LOVE YOU.....
