When you go to a big chain of pet stores like pet world or pet smart, you need to use your common sense when it comes to purchasing pets or supplies for your pets. The workers are not all experts!! A good portion of the workers that I have encountered are teenagers who are working part time for extra money. If you need more information, find a valid source or do your own research.
In response to a previous poster...if you bought a dwarf hamster and the salesman recommended too big of a cage, don't you think you should have asked about a smaller cage?

I would give this store 3.5 stars if possible as it certainly satisfactory but not a great store.
This store is practically next door to PetCo. It has mostly better prices but gives the impression that they tried to cram twice as many supplies into half the space. It can be hard to find a particular item you are looking for.
Animal care in the store is decent, not great. Bird cages are a little too small and not all that clean but at least they have plenty of toys and perches. They have cats for adoption in nice cat condos. They also have a very impressive-looking wall of small aquariums, clean and well maintained, although not all that much in the way of plants or small community fish.

My husband is desperately trying to find one of the three dwarf hamsters we bought today at Petsmart because the salesman (who seemed so knowledgeable) advised me to buy a cage that was not appropriate for this small of an animal!! They all got out hours after we got them home. We relied on his expertise since we had no clue what to buy. Now we have lost one and we feel so bad to have hurt her! Shame on him for not knowing this info and for misleading us. A little lost hamster and another trip tomorrow to Petsmart...not cool.

This store is relativey new to the Greenfield area. It has a large selection of supplies for all types of animals, and they even alow you to bring in your pets to shop with you. They offer grooming and training classes, and the staff is always willing to help with any questions you may have. Being a multiple pet owner, it is nice to have a one stop pet shop that is clean and resonably priced.
