I am a criminal investigator and love to run for exercise. I was an insurance claims adjuster and naturally suspicious of Chiros. I was experiencing a severe pain down my left leg starting above my gluteous muscles on the left side. Dr. Hamm suggested that I should try 3 adjustments of my lower back and mid back and with stretching and a new seat cushion he provided I am now pain free and have increased my sitting time to 3 hours rather than the prior 30 minutes. Bravo Dr. Hamm for being effective without recommending a lifetime of treatments.

Dr. Darren J. Hamm is a very personable, attentive chiropractor who approaches healing holistically. When I first saw him last October, I could not walk a block without limping and feeling excruciating pain. It was looking like orthopedic surgery, but I am happy to report I can now in February walk around Lake Merritt, a 3.4 mile stretch, with a couple of short rests and minimal pain that soon disappears with rest as the result of his care.
I am particularly impressed with Dr. Hamms innate ability to read body structure and to pick up and address reservations that I do not express. He expects me to be a proactive patient and to call when I am having difficulties. His techniques are gentle and he tells me what is going to happen as he goes through the adjustments. He has checked my health history thoroughly, researches different aspects of my treatment, and recommends other resources when these may be beneficial.
Dr. Hamm works in a clean, cooperative environment with other practitioners who are friendly and make sure the patients, whosever they are, have the help they need. I highly recommend Dr. Hamm.

I'd recommend Dr. Hamm to anyone who is looking for a chiropractor! I drive out to Alameda all the way from San Francisco for this great service. And, I've already recommended several family members and coworkers to him.
Dr. Hamm was patient with my incessant questions, and truly educated me on my pain, my physiology (who knew the spine was curved?) and how to support the body's potential to heal itself.
The adjustments he did over the months that he treated me were gentle, precise, and extremely effective, and brought to bear all his expertise and experience in sports and spine related injuries.
I have been disenchanted by rushed HMO-style treatment whose goal is to numb your pain and shove you out the door. Dr. Hamm was the exact opposite, an integral approach to the problem and a collaborative dynamic that empowers and supports the patient.
Plus, he's got a cool Canadian accent, aye.

After seeing my primary care physician for a back and leg injury and getting no real support -- except to wait it off, I got referred to Darran Hamm. I felt better after the first adjustment and he has been continually supportive by providing exercises and suggestions for improving my situation, which has improved tremendously. I also particularly appreciate the attention that he gives to explaining what he thinks is going on, to provide a holistic assessment and respect the patients curiosity of what's going on with his body!
