This is my first review ever. I seldom share my thoughts about my experiences publicly as I generally find word of mouth sufficient enough. My sister had a good experience at Sterling McCall Toyota so I thought I would have a similar experience based on referral. During price negotiations everything went smoothly, the vehicle we picked was right for our needs and the price we settled on was fair. The salesman and I finally agreed on a deal, the manager signed off on the purchase price, we shook hands and filled out a credit application. Low and behold, a few short minutes later the car we were dealing with was SOLD to another customer despite the fact that we had just taken a test drive and we??re in possession of the keys. I was in disbelief because a dealer as big as Sterling McCall should know how to manage their business. Then the manager, Mike Thoi, came by and blamed us for the situation because we took too long negotiating the price. He did not want to admit he was stringing us along so we can waste 2 hours of our time negotiating over an arbitrary car that is no longer in existing inventory. This manager who clearly did not know how to manage his deals had the audacity to blame the situation on us, the customer! Lets just say we wasted 4 hours at this dealership and came home with NOTHING! I highly recommend you TO STAY AWAY from this place if you want good service and to know that every time you shake your hand on a deal the vehicle is yours not the person next to you.

Dave Goss did an excellent job! He got me exactly what I wanted and did well under what I would`ve paid elsewhere. I will be back! Josh in the finance dept. did a great job as well and got me as close to my target payment as he could. It was by far the easiest car deal I`ve ever done! In @ 1130 and out @ 2!

I liked the salesman's knowledge and laid back style. He saw that I knew everything I needed to know but never spoke down to me or refuse to deal with a woman. The last time I bought a car and the guy wasn't interested in selling to ME, but wanted to speak to my 'man', I decided I would NEVER AGAIN purchase a car from ANYONE who treated me like that. I was THRILLED that John was not at ALL like that.

Last week (December 30th) I had called the dealership about a 2010 Toyota 4Runner which appeared on their website as "in stock". The salesmen said the car was on the lot, I came by and took a look at it and negotiated a price of 39,500$. I decided to purchase the vehicle on December 31, 2009 (that day to get the tax write off). I already had been pre-approved with financing through my own credit union. I called the dealership and asked if the car was still available, I was told it was. I then get a call 15 mins later telling me the car I wanted was sold but the same car with upgrades was available (on the lot) for $500 more. I negotiated again and the final sale price for the vehicle was 39,800$. We then proceeded with the paperwork (via email and phone with the dealership, credit union and me, as I was in Dallas). We gave a credit card number over the phone and they charged the card for the down payment. I was told everything was good to go with the sale and I could pick up the car on Monday Jan. 4th 2010. I asked them to please email me a copy of the purchase order that the credit union received. It said the car had 16 miles on the odometer. I called the dealership Saturday to confirm all paperwork was in order and that the car was on the lot. They assured me it was. I show up on Monday to do the final sale of the vehicle, and it was at that time I was informed that the car didn't have 16 miles on it, like the purchase order I was sent said, it had 1500 miles on it! When asked to speak with the General Manager of the dealership, he refused to talk to me. When I asked about why it had so many miles on it, at first i was told it came from another dealership, Louisiana. You could drive across the state of Louisiana and it would not equal 1500 Miles. The business manager then went and asked the GM what the deal was. It was at that time I was told the GM had been driving the car. It is fraud to sell me a car that you say has 16 miles on it, take my money, then turn around and drive the car to wherever in the USA and back, and try to sell it to me with 1500 miles on it.

I went to Sterling McCall Toyota expecting the same, but soon all my fears vanished. The sales staff (specifically Kyle and Fred) were very professional, attentive, and behaved the way good salesmen should. I spoke with Kyle on the phone and when I got to the dealership he was helping someone else. Fair enough. He got his colleague Fred to help me so he could finish with his current customers, then he came back to eventually sell me a car. He even stayed an hour and a half after closing to make sure I knew how to operate the vehicle before I drove away in it. That's the way it should be. Everyone I dealt with at Sterling McCall made the experience a genuine pleasure.

I've visited this dealership twice since moving to downtown Houston, and am satisfied with both the service and personel. Repairs were done in a timely manner, and the auto technition that I spoke with couldn't have been nicer. Will definately do business with them in the future if I have any more problems with my Toyota.

I called with specific perameters for my search including models, years, and pricing. I had lending through my credit union and I told the salesman that I wasn't interested in coming down if he didn't have anything within the perameters I'd set; it would have been a waste of his and my time. He said he had several cars available. When I was about 5 minutes away, he called my mobile asking if I was "ever going to show up" though I had previously told him I wouldn't be available to look until after 7:30. It was 7:25. We began in his office where he started filling out a credit application. I reminded him that I already had lending elsewhere. He said that I had to use Sterling McCall's lending. When I disagreed, he recanted and said he needed to fill out some routine paperwork. When he asked for my social security number I refused and he then stepped out of the office for a moment. I saw he was writing on a credit application. He showed me several vehicles, none of which fell within my guidelines. We came back into the office and as my trade-in was being evaluated while I looked at the other cars, I asked for my keys back but he said he wouldn't return them to me until we ran numbers on the cars he'd shown me. He wrote up several figures, I refused, and he became beligerant. He said that I'd lied to him, wasted his time, and I never should have come to the dealership if I wasn't going to buy a car from him. He asked what my hesitation was and I told him that none of the cars were within the guidelines I'd discussed on the phone and that as such, not what I wanted to spend. He then went on to tell me that it didn't matter how much I spent as long as I had lending approval. He continued to refuse the return of my keys until after he'd brought in another salesman to play "good cop, bad cop" and when it was all said and done, the dealership still had the audacity to call me the next day to see how my shopping experience went!
