Discovery is now in it's 4 year and has blossomed into one amazing school. It is a parent participation school, and supplies academics through developmental education. This makes learning stimulating and fun. The kids are engaged and on task.
If you are looking for a school that has a community feel, where kids and parents are known, and the education is hand-on and
engaging then this school is for you!
This small K-8 school is an excellent alternative to traditional public school education. Parents participate in the classroom, and the curriculum is flexible and hands-on. The classes go on field trips, and many extras are offered thanks to the dedicated staff and parents in the community (such as knitting, dance, drama, Spanish). The small community is supportive and friendly.
Discovery Charter School is a public school that is K-8 and requires parent participation. The school has a great community with many actively involved parents who help with everything from literacy and math to computers, art, cooking and gardening instruction and much more.
The school opened in 2006 and offers Spanish language instruction for all K-8 classes. DCS also has the advantage of offering smaller class sizes for grades 4 and up. While the school does not offer honors classes, it does have a Math specialist who works with more advanced students in grades 5 and higher.
The school was in start-up mode in 2006 and continues to get better and better. Great staff and Executive Director, wonderful parents and a great variety of electives and after school clubs for students.
