I've been here couple of times and each and every time we received excellent service, not to speak about the great wine selection they have. I love their reds in which i always try a new brand to try to find my favorite one. When i think i found it they always manage to top my list with another delicious one. I love the full bodied reds where you can taste the oak from the barrell. Such great place to taste wines!!!
i went to a friend's birthday party to Lelabar and all of us had a wonderful time. Wine and bites were tasty, fresh, and delicious. loved their assorted cheese plate and pate with a heavy bodied red wine (forgot the name but will ask next time). This was my first time here and didn't know about the place, since it's not in a very busy walking area, but sure to come back again.
i stopped here after work with a colleague and we were really impressed with the selection Lelabar offers and that you're able to buy by the glass. greatly enjoyed our wine and time here!
Great, mellow ambiance for a date or few friends to hang out after work. the wine selection is good and extensive. Staff was polite and helpful, which we were very happy about becasue none of us is an expert in wines. had a fantastic Cabarnet blend and stuck to it all night along with a meat and cheese charcuterie board. all of us had a lovely time!
This is THE place to come, relax, and enjoy a glass of wine or two. Great ambiance, comfortable setting. Food was great and delicious, nicely prepared. tried an argentinian red, which was amazing. they have a wide selection and many available by the glass too! thanks guys...
can't go wrong with the extensive menu, you have plenty to choose from, and for sure you'll find your favorite. the sommelier is really cool...gave us a little lesson on wines and helped made our choice easier. ended up with a great italian white. also favorite spot to get some oysters-can't beat the price!
I came along with a friend of mine here last week and was very impressed. Lelabar has a very relaxed vibe and a very welcoming and professional staff.
I had a French red wine that they sell by the glass to start, along with a dry Hungarian lamb sausage and marinated fennel. Both were to die for. Flavor and freshness are the two words that come to mind. We had another glass of excellent Italian red to finish up.I look forward to Lelabar again very soon.
lovely place to sit and have a glass of wine with a friend or date. enjoyed it very much. wines we tried were great and food was delicous! love their paninis.
it's a great place to come and wind down after work. we stoped by on Friday and stayed until almost closing. Pleasant environment, great people and to pair that with excellent wine selection and great food. can somone wish for any better!?! Had a wonderful time! the 07 pinot noir from Oregon was fantastic.
Pros: exciting, trendy, excellent selection
This bar has a very cozy, comfortable feeling. The wine is fantastic. I had a great Dom de la patience merlot from France during happy hours. It's great that you can buy wine by the glass and not having to pay for the whole bottle. The Hungarian salami was delicious!
I am a regular customer at Lelabar and they just started offering brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. They do a great job at it with great varieties of food and wine. excellent smoked salmon! They are always great and can't expect anything less.
This is a wine bar with all that i need...that is excellent wine and cheese. I come here often and I had really great white and red wines, which they offer from many countries from around the world. France, California, Germany, Italy just to mention a few. To pair this they have great Artisanal cheeses-cow, goat, sheep anything you can desire.
this is a really beautifully decorated casual and at the same time elegant bar. I was impressed on the variety of wine selection they have. Also you can buy wine by the glass which is excellent for me and anyone who is adventurous and likes to try new varieties. they have great brie and ham panninis and salamis. Oh, and i am planning to take one of their wine classes, which they also offer! Such a small place with so many positive attributes!!
Pros: wine, food
One of the few places where one can come over and over again. I like red wines and all that i tried at Lelabar was excellent. they constantly renew their menu, which is great for someone like me, who likes to come here often.
Lelabar is an excellent place to rewind and enjoy yourself after a hard day of work. and you need this in todays economic environment. They offer really great wines (reds, whites, from different countries from the world). Plus they have great food to nibble on next your glass of pinot grigio or cabarnet sauvignon :)
Wonderful cozy winebar. I brought my mother to Lelabar. She lives in Chicago and visits a few times to New York. She loves wine and was absolutely blown away by the service and variety of wines. She already has her "reservation" for this place next time she returns.
This is a lovely and trendy wine bar. I really liked the atmosphere, which is very cozy and pleasant. Extensive wine list-a lot to choose from! They cater parties too, so I think i will do my upcoming birthday party here.
Pros: extensive variety of excellent wines
How nice is to see that a place constantly renewing its menu and adding new items. Lelabar does it. We just tried their amazing caviar and oysters. It goes very well with sparkling wine. And some of their chocolates after in interesting flavors such as sesame, lime, caramel.
Pros: changing menu
I had a few friends over from out of town and I took them to this bar. They really loved the NY vibe and atmosphere. The wine list is extensive and the small plates of salamis and cheeses were very tasty. Thank you, Lelabar.
Pros: wine and small plates
Lelabar has such a great variety of wines (red and white) from all over the world that you need many many visits to try them all. All I tried so far are just really good wines. With my husband we always stop by for a glass of wine. At Lelabar almost all of the bottles can be purchased by the glass which is very convenient for us who drink one glass at a time. Very cozy and beautiful neighborhood wine bar.
Pros: many varieties
This is a bar where I would go back anytime! Liked the happy hour menu very much. Great value for the city.
Pros: any of their red wine, brie cheese and hungarian salami
This is a great place to do a birthday party or any kind of a party. I went to my friend's birthday party and it was so much fun! The bartenders made it so easy and pleasant for the whole crew. I am thinking to do my birthday here, as well.... See you soon!
Absolutely one of my favorite places in the west village. When I feel I need a place to cheer me up I just pop in to Lelabar and here the mood is always right. Try the tastiest pates and salamis with some (always fresh!) baguette. Amazing wine selection! You can't go wrong here...
Pros: tasty and decorative small plates
a feel what i've been looking for. lelabar is welcoming, comfortable from the moment you step in and looks great and decorative. All the small bites from the menu i tried was delicious and the wines are just excellent, red and white alike. just perfect for a wine bar. and be careful the place addictive :)
Pros: everything about the bar is just great. you want to go back again and again and again...
My date took me to this wine bar and what an excellent choice he made. I really enjoyed the time we had together next to a glass of wine and really good cheeses. Cozy place, nicely decorated, romantic, where you really can connect with the other and have a nice time together.
Pros: wonderful date place
Cons: i didn't see any
I am a wine lover and my fiancee knows that. This is why she introduced me to Lelabar, and what a great place for great, no even excellent wine, cheese, and cold cuts. I tried and became my favorite a cheese called pecorino tartuffo with a few different glasses of rich and complex red wine. It was amazing. We'll go back because I would like to try even more of their red wines.
Pros: wine and cheese
Georgeous bar, fantastic food and wine, pleasant atmosphere! Loved it. Will be returning here and bring my grilfriends too. Also, awsome service!
Wow, I was amazaed on the cold cuts selection they offer. Hungarian, croatian and other salamis, dried beef and so forth...Delicious with some full bodied red wine and fresh bread. Will be back tomorrow too.
Pros: cold cuts
I always have happy hours at Lelabar, and it's not only when I go at happy hours :) By the way great deals on the happy hour menu! Not too crouded at the early afternoon hours. You can sit around by a glass of chardonnay and reflect your thoughts. Later the place gets more crowded and brings a different atmosphere, which I also love. Nice people, awsome place!
Very cozy, pleasant winebar. Always enjoy my time there a lot. Their menu is excellent, filled with the tastiest wines and foods. They continuously update the menu, which is a great move!
This was my first time here. I came over with a bunch of friends last Saturday. Great place. Recommend it!
I heard about this wine bar from a bunch of people as a good neighborhood hang out with a good wine list. I?m not a wine expert but I really liked the atmosphere and the attitude of the bartenders. They really take the time to explain about wines and let you taste different wines. I was meeting girlfriends and waiting alone for a while and the atmosphere was cozy and nice to be sitting by yourself as well hanging out with friends.
Pros: wines, service and atmosphere
If you are a wine fan, you should check out this place.
Great selection of wines, that can easily be paired with something on the food menu.
It was a little loud once the place was packed, but well worth it
Pros: A real wine bar, Service
Cons: Can be a little loud when packed
I live down the street from this bar and thought it looked cute- wanted to try it out. Called them up to tell them I was bringing a group and to make sure there would be no conflicts. They said we were good.
The bartender, however, thought differently. He was rude all night, tried to clear our drinks before they were done, even hounded some people to do so. What took the cake though, was when he yelled at us simply for ordering. Something about too many people... he wasn't informed of the group... and I mean yelled!
C'mon, really. Even if it is crowded (they weren't packed, it was appropriately busy), it's a WINE bar-- no one's slammin' their drinks and hounding the bartender to keep him on his toes!
Would have left sooner, but people arrived at different times, so we felt stuck patronizing a business to which I would never return.
Pros: cute place
Cons: service, service, service, price
The morning after and with two dozen oysters and a bottle of ?Gosset Grand Reserve? down my belly, my day sure looks better.
For me, a big oyster lover, Lelabar is kind of a fairyland. With $1 per Oyster and an endless wine list to choose from, great crowd and service?..Thank you New York Magazine for the recommendation.
Pros: Great local crowd
One of my favorite foods are cheeses and cold cuts. Here, at Lelabar the cheese and meat plates are really amazing. The cheeses are riped and creamy, the cold cuts are always fresh. My personal favorite is the Pon't Leveque, a very rich french cheese and the dry cured sausage which is air dried. Very pleasant wine bar!
I read the reviews posted here and thought it would be a great place to try, but I was completely disappointed. When I go to a wine bar I expect an eclectic selection of wines, but I didn't really see anything unusual or unique. I recognized several bottles and noted the %35 markup. The appetizers were ok, but lacking in quality and imagination. We ordered from the limited selection of chocolates only to be disappointed again. I think I could get more satisfaction from a bottle of beer and a hershey bar. Do yourself a favor and leave this spot to the tourists.
Pros: The staff was polite
Cons: Over priced, low quality food, disappointing wine selection
This place is truly a 5 star wine bar. Compared to other wine bars I've been to (not only in Manhattan), Lelabar is far better. Everything about the bar is just pleasant and good quality. They are doing a Great job!
I am a cheese fanatic and Lelabar has the tastiest cheeses, among these my favorites are the Pont L'Eveque, St. Maure, Epoisses and brie de nangis from France. Combining any of their cheeses with a glass of excellent bordeaux is just like heaven. They also offer suberb quality zinfandel and white wines, so if you are looking to indulge yourself you need to visit this trendy wine bar in the west village.
I can only give compliments to Lelabar just as all the other reviews here. The service is excellent so as the whole bar environment. I've been here with friends, family, colleagues and business clients and Lelabar is just the perfect place for all occasions. They offer the best wine list from which everyone can find their own favorite (or two :). Really...congratulations!!
Out of curiosity I tried out one their wine classes and I really enjoyed it. I don't know much about wine, so I decided to attend; why not I was thinking it can't hurt to learn a little. And I ended up learning a lot. Now, I not only drink the wine I like but also know about it and know what to eat with a certain kind of wine. I am thinking to take more classes, since this one worked out for me well :) They do a really good job at Lelabar.
I go to Lelabar since it opened and the bartenders are really awsome. The new ones are really excellent. They always have the answer to any questions I have and are very polite and professional. Keep up the good work!
When a few besties asked me, more like begged me, to come with them to Lela bar, I was skeptical at first because I have been to the best wine bar's all over the world. But, these were some of my most refined friends, who's opinions had only done me great good over the years, so I hopped in a cab from the upper east side in what seemed like the longest cab ride of my life to the ends of the earth. BUT ALAS New York, finally has a wine bar suitable for the sophisticated. I would bring my Parisian, English, Brazilian, Italian, client's there, with out worrying that they think I am coming off as a cheesey, clueless American. In fact, this place can give you more power in your corner, if you have invited business associates to a evening meeting. I had the best cheese. I had my favorite wine. I found a new favorite wine. I am suprised that this place hasn't already gotten a giant bouncer only letting the elite in. But in a way, that is kind of why I liked it. When I heard that they also instruct classes with their in house sommelier, I could not help but think "IT DOES NOT GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" KUDOS AND BRAVO LELA BAR!!!
we did a birthday party at Lelabar. Everything was so easy with the help of the staff that I wish all places were like this one. We got great deals on prices too. Everyone at the party enjoyed themselves and congratulated us on the place we picked!
I love to pass by after a long day of work and relax here. Comfortable, trendy bar just as I imagine a wine bar to be!
The food at Lelabar is amazing! I am not a fan of wines so much, more of a cocktail girl, but I come here to enjoy the food, which is really fascinating. My personal favorite, which I recommend is the brie and spiced ham pressed sandwich. Really good! Also recommend the tiny chocolates of green tea and fresh lime!
What a wonderful wine bar! The design is amazing at this small neighborhood bar. Anyone who comes in feels part of this family like place. The sommeliers are welcoming and can answer to all your questions regarding wine. I am a fan of Lelabar!
I took one of the wine classes here and was absolutely stunned how well it was designed to teach people about wine and select foods, such as cheeses, cold cuts, sweets to serve with wine, the area where each wine originates and so forth... It was a great experience! thank you.
Pros: Best experience at a wine class
