Center for Movement is owned and actively managed by Elle Jardim and Donna Singer, both of whom trained under the tutelage of the legendary master trainer Romana Kryzanowska. It is upon this strong foundation that the structure of our centers has been built. Our mission at Center for Movement is to create a warm, inviting atmosphere with a no-nonsense approach to Authentic Pilates and Gyrotonic training.

Center For Movement I had never taken a pilates class before so I was very skeptical. As soon as I walked into this very beautiful and friendly studio, all my fears were put to rest. The studio was lovely and quaint, the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly and the class was great. I felt better after taking that class than I have in a very long time. The owners were very helpful and accomodating. I would definitely take more classes here and I would encourage every and anyone else to follow my lead. Center For Movement I only discovered the value of Pilates a short time ago, and this particular studio has positively altered my perception tremendously. The ambiance is beautiful, the studio clean and professionally kept. The staff is both knowledgeable and extends themselves completely to the clientele. Primarily a class based Pilates studio, the plethora of classes allow you to pick a time that is conducive to your schedule. The small, intimate classes focus on the tower and then touch upon other Pilates foundations. Results are promising, and the entire staff ( including the owners, whose friendly attitude is inviting and another incentive to work out there), and i cannot emphasize how the array of classes has benefited me. Highly recommended and suggested for anyone, any age- primarily people who want to get results in an enjoyable and effective manner. Center For Movement I noticed this studio by walking by. It turned out to be a great find. I studied and worked as a dancer for many years, so I am quite aware of Pilates and the workings of the body. Because of this I can be quite picky. When many studios can have a snobby or cold feeling, this place really made me feel welcome. The desk attendant was friendly, as was the instructor who was equally informative and helpful. By danihavasy I have been an avid pilates student for a few years now and recently moved to the UES. I was looking everywhere for a pilates studio when I found Center for Movement. This studio is fantastic! The staff is extremely caring and attentive to each individual they teach. They work with your body and make sure you get the maximum workout without hurting or straining yourself. I have definitely noticed a positive change in my body and in my strength. By sbernow Center Studio caters to people of all ages and as an almost Medicare eligible client, I will be saving the gov't a lot of money because of the healthy exercise I get. As a warm, friendly and welcoming place for those new to Pilates and those who have done it for years, Center Studio is the best place I have found in NYC and I have dilligently tried others. My instructor is smart, knowledgeable and very encouraging. She thoughtfully alters my exercises to relieve stress on an occasionally achy body part. I often go to the user- friendly Center Studio site to switch my sessions, add new ones and book times with other instructors. And all the instructors I've tried have been great. The convenient location in the Upper West Side JCC enables me to reward myself for my energetic and satisfying workout with a smoothie in the cafe downstairs after my session. The professional staff makes it their personal goal to challenge student, and attend to their needs/injuries. The inexpensive rates permit you to purchase a series ( which could consist of 5, 10, or 20 clases) The integrity of the method is preserved by the knowledgable staff, and owners ( who are also fantastic instructors) This intimate studio puts you at ease while engaging in Pilates Tower or Reformer Class. This is by far the best and most professional Pilates Studio I've been to on the upper east and west side. Love the instructors and all the staff. I'ts a beautiful environment too!
