Well I had never been to The MeltingPot before but my mother and I decided to try it for my birthday and I'm sure glad we did. Our waitress was very nice and also patient with our lack of fondue knowledge. After some discussion with her we ordered the "Big Night Out" which was a wonderful decision because we got to enjoy a four course meal. And every course that came our way was absolutely delicious. Also it was very fun to sample all kinds of meats and vegeteables in the fondue and the different sauces, our favorite was the lobster dipped in garlic butter. The overall experience was enjoyable and I would recomend it to anyone planning to go as a couple or maybe a group of three. I think more then that would get obnoxious and expensive. 4 or five people trying to cook and fish out food over one burner seems a little challenging..

We took our daughter for her 18th birthday on a Sat night. We wanted something fun & decided to try it. It was not very crowded, service was good. We had not been there before so the waitress was very helpful with making food choices about the confusing menu. We had thought you would just dip your food choices in different fondues, but actually the appetizer was a cheese fondue with apples, breads and a couple of raw vegies. There was salad, and the main course was brought to the table raw and you cooked it for several minutes in hot oil. We really didn't like that we had to cook our own food. Our daughter and her friend shared a burner with a fondue and the other 4 of us shared a fondue and burner. Our food did not cook as well as our daughter's. We mentioned that to our waitress and she said that with more then two people it really didn't cook as well. The dessert was good. It was chocolate turtle fondue sauce served with bananas, strawberries, tiny pieces of pound cake, 4 marshmellows, 1 tiny cheesecake slice, a rice krispie treat & 2 tiny pieces of brownie. We really didn't get that much food for the price. The bill came to $450.00. There were 6 of us. My husband & I had a glass of wine, one person had water, the other 3 had ice tea. The food is very small & portioned for couples. Our 20 year old son left afterwards to go meet his friends to go eat another dinner. We chalked it up to a dining experience but will not go back. The chocolate bar is much better. We could have had a much better meal for the price at our favorite 5 star steakhouse with a couple bottles of wine. I do not see them surviving the economy at their current prices.

Pros: Several Choices for food, huge wine list

Cons: Small portions, very expensive, not recommended for children or large groups

My wife and I thought this would be a nice change and some fun from the kids and cooking at home. Wow was I wrong. A better name should have be par boiled cleaners. We spent 200.00 dollars and hated the meal that we didn't eat. I don't like boiled steak or the hassle of timing all the different stuff. (bring a watch and a note pad) I tried to just pay for the two bottles of wine and leave, but the manager was not accommodating at all. I would never go back.

This place is different, I will give them that! If you are looking for a fun night out, go here! Fondue takes time to cook so we were actually there for quite some time. The cheese fondues are great and the evening was a lot of fun for me and the family - there were five of us. Although I loved the food and the entire experience, I was disappointed to learn that they do not have children's menu. My son was charged the same amount as an adult even though he could not eat a lot! Maybe the prices are a little inflated (5 dollar beers!) due to the amount of time the table is unavailable to other guests - we were there for 3 hours! It may not look like much at first, but they do give you quite a bit of food too. I suggest that everyone give it a try!

This restaurant is a great addition to the Reno area. I have dined there many times since they have opened and have had nothing but the best service and exceptional food. They have such a variety of different cheese fondues, entree which includes anything from filet mignon to lobster and the chocolate fondue is out of this world. Recently while visiting the restaurant we had the "Big Night Out." With this we got a cheese fondue, salads, entree (which included filet mignon, lobster, shrimp, chicken, pork, sirloin), and for chocolate we had the bananas foster. This is the perfect spot for a romantic dinner or a large celebration party. Also I have had many of their different specialty drinks which are very tasty and they have a great wine list. The staff is always friendly and the managers are very accomadating. I would recommend this restaurant to all!!

I was in Reno for business back in March. We decided to come here because it had been a very long time since I was there. It was AMAZING! We had the spinach and artichoke cheese fondue...yummy. And for the main entree we had lobster, shrimp, beef, filet, chicken and a few other things. The sauces are all so delicious. For dessert, the best part, we had the bananas foster in a white chocolate...HEAVEN. Our server was very nice and the service was great. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants an intimate, one of a kind dining experience!

We love fondue and have been eager to see another fondue restaurant come to town to give Reno Vino some competition, if not just additional seating (Reno Vino is incredible, but has very limited seating). My wife and I took our daughters to check it out just a month after they opened. I wish I could recommend it. I'm sure a lot was put into the place. The interior design is rich and decadent. It's dark with nice ambiance. We didn't wait long for a table for four. unfortunately, the fun ended there. Our waitress, while very friendly, pushed a chocolate fondue membership on us not once but FIVE times throughout our meal. Apparently, saying "no" once was not enough for this waitress. We realize they are spiffed well to sign people up, but honestly. I felt we didn't get much fondue for the money. We just tried their basic fondue and it wasn't good. I can make better fondue. The evening was a tad pricey and nothing memorable or special, except for the modern interior design. I felt no reason to come back.
