The opening of a new restaurant has come to 1177 California St. , in the Gramercy Towers , atop Nob Hill, in beautiful San Francisco . The style of food is European/American food. That includes thick juicy steaks that will make your mouth water, an array of appetizers, and pasta's. Finish off your meal with our delectable desserts made by Chef Gerard. What was once Mama's, Vanessi's, and Watergate is again a place that serves great food, great drinks, great service, and a great time. Welcome to the Californian Bar and Restaurant. The menu was OK, I ordered a steak which arrived barely warm although the plate was quite hot. Service was very slow and it was not crowded at all. The bar is not very big, and the drinks listed online were not actually available as the waitress told us that they didn't have a bar menu. After we left we saw the bar menu posted at the front entrance. Overall, it was kind of pricey for what you get and not as great as it sounds on the website. Pros: OK decor, open kitchen, stocked bar Cons: food was cold, service was slow, bread was not fresh Posted 11/07/07 at 9:38am Great addition to San Francisco This is a new place, which opened where Watergate uised to be, right across from Grace Cathedral.
