.

We contracted with LoRusso tile to lay slate on our floor and drop down fireplace. His estimate was reasonable compared to some others that I had received and he completed the job as promised despite some set backs.

Against his recommendation, we chose a slate tile that had significant variations in squareness, thickness and to top it off some tiles were warped. (all part of the natural look of slate apparently) But it was a tile that my wife fell in love with and so we went with it.

As it turned out our floor was not very level, and had significant cracks. They leveled it off, and laid down a membrane to protect the new tiles from the cracks.

As it turned out 90% of the way through the project they ran out of usable tile and had to stop. The tile that was delivered was in such poor shape that we had to return some of it and order even more then the 20% over that is standard for slate.

I was somewhat concerned that I would never see him again since he had been paid for the work that he had completed, but true to his word he came back and finished the job once the additional tiles arrived.

Despite the uneven floor, wavy inconsistent tile our floor looks good and my wife is happy.

Thanks guys
