I went to this place sometime last year and it was amazing. I recommended it to a coworker and he had a positive experience too.

I went in March and it was like night and day. Like other viewers have said, there was one Asian woman working there. She was nice enough, but she kept answering the phone during my massage. At one point, she just brought the cordless phone into the massage room.

She could barely understand English, which made communicating about areas to focus on or sensitive areas difficult.

She came really close to my inside thighs. It was uncomfortable.

And like someone else said, she didn't know how to work the credit card machine. It took like three tries before she got my Am Ex card to work.

I visited sometime in March 2009, so maybe things have changed. I just know that I won't be back. Pity, because I really enjoyed the first time I went.

Pros: Cheap

Cons: I didn't come in for a pelvic exam

Apparently Knead underwent new management. The old manager (blonde girl) was incredible - organized, friendly, prompt, courteous. Now, that one asian woman works there and is a complete idiot. I went in with one other person and it took her 5 minutes just to assign us to a specific room. The asian lady stopped the massage at least three times to answer her cell phone. Also, she wouldn't shut her mouth during the massage - asking if I had ever been massaged by "an asian lady" before...yes those were her exact words. I came in with back pains, which wasn't alleviated. Since the new management, this place is absolutely TERRIBLE. I feel awful for the other therapists that DO speak English because they are wonderful - Rachel, Robert, Stephanie, etc. Those therapists are amazing - however, I won't return. I'm sorry! :(

I entered the place and only ONE Asian woman was working. So, my massage was interrupted 3 times any time someone would walk into the the place or cal. I'm addition, there was no formal introduction nor was I asked if I had any injuries, sensitive areas, etc. The woman also didn't speak much English and got very close to the very very inside of my thighs. She also didn't know how to work the credit car machine- I had to figure it out on my own. In a nutshell- don't go here& if you do-don't expect much!

I too was surprised when I read the reviews. The staff is really friendly, they run on time everytime I've been there (not like the Massage Place on Ocean Park, who made me once wait twenty minutes without an explanation for my massage) and whoever is working at the counter is always willing to put quarters in my meter and thoroughly explained the three parking options. I don't know what people expect from a place that offers $48 massages, but its always clean, nice and great massages. Come on people, you know that this is not some sort of spa at the Peninsula, but you will get just as great of a massage. I really have come to conclusion that people just like to complain. I say don't go back, but why be a cry baby about it, and if you didn't love your therapist there are so many others to choose from. I've had three different people, Meghan, Robert and Christie and they're all fantastic, completely different but really great.

Pros: fantastic massages, great price

Cons: can't think of anything

I had to write because I saw such nasty things written. My boyfriend and I go there alot. The girls are super sweet. The place is sooooo clean....I have only seen the bathroom spotless. The girls do such great massages. As long as you communicate with them, they will focus on whatever area needs the most work....they are just fantastic! As for tipping..it's a must people. Don't go get a massage( or anywhere where you need to tip) and not tip..just not o.k.

I have tried many massage places, lots of massage places in this price range in southern California are either operated by Chinese or Korean with little or no English. The first thing I liked about Knead is that the place is very professional, and every one speaks English. Parking was a breeze, Starbucks parking will cost you $6.00, but don?t park there. Park at the public parking 2 hours free. I went on Saturday (May 3rd around 1 PM), the lady on phone even offered to put money in the meter if I leave her quarters while I am in the massage session (2 thumbs up for this type of customer service).

My massage therapists name was Rachel. Few things about her that I though was NOT professional. During massage session at least 3 times she started to massage with one hand only, I was face down but I knew some thing is not right, then I noticed that she is using her cell phone to reply text messages. When you are in session with a customer, the cell phone should be off limits unless it is an emergency. She also had a slightly runny nose, I can hear clearly that she was getting runny nose. Also at start of the massage she did not rub her hands to make them warm, she just started with COLD hands. I may be very picky when it comes to massage, but these things matter a lot to me. One thing I really liked about her that she knew all the techniques of massages, and do give VERY GOOD massage. For that I will give her 4 stars (* * * *), but for her professional behavior I will give her only 1 star (*). I think overall the place is very good, with great customer service and above all the price $48.00 for 1 hour is really a bargain. Thanks Ramesh

Don?t Go, A Nightmare
This place was a nightmare. First finding it and finding parking are a big pain. Well because I had parking issues and this was my first time there I was a few minutes late. When I went in they said nothing about me being late and started the massage. The massage itself was not that great, I mean I explained I need a light massage and she was very heavy handed, even to the point I had to tell her to stop. Well once the massage was done the girl stated she had to stop early because she had an appointment, which I understand. So I looked up and it had only been one hour even though I booked an hour and a half, but I understood she had an appointment. So when I walked out to pay they charge me for the full hour and a half and when I explained I didn?t think that was right she stated it was my fault because I was late by 10 mins. Then as I was putting on my shoes the girl keep asking if I wanted to give her the tip, which I found very rude because if I decide if she deserves a tip or not is my business. Well she kept asking and then finally I looked at her and said what do you mean? She told me I MUST leave a tip or I was to never return; I found this so rude I just walked out. Don?t waste your money on crappy service; bad parking and a dirty salon, there are a ton of other places in LA.

This is the best massage deal in LA. Really nice, well trained therapists. And it's perfect for spa parties because you can rent the whole place out and everyone in your group can get $40 massages. Can't do that at Burke Williams.

The most relaxing massage I have ever had. Its great, because you get these therapists working on you and the friendlist staff you've ever met. I called in the other day and they didn't have someone available at the time I wanted, but unlike most places who just say sorry call back later, the woman on the phone, took my number and called me back in five minutes to let me know she found someone to accomodate me. What service and the massage was damn good. I read that review below and It sounds like the person who claims "to have been in pain for weeks! "after, had pain going in. I guess some people just like to complain. But don't let that stop you from enjoying a superb massage.

My back had been bothering me and I wanted a massage but didn't want to spend a lot of money, and didn't need the spa atmosphere. I came on citysearch, and based on the reviews I figured I would check it out, hoping it would be an alternative to my more expensive massages at Burke Williams. When I called, the lady I spoke to was super friendly and accommodating. It started off great, the therapist that worked on me was super friendly when she brought me to the room. My massage was soooo painful, even after I explained that my back was bothering me in particular areas. The next day I was sooo sore. I figured that the therapist really worked me out and by the next day I would be feeling fine. Fast forward about 4 weeks later and my back was still bothering me. Every time I coughed or laughed hard, I felt like I had a tumor in my back. Finally my back feels better. I would not recommend this place to anyone! Now I know it's worth paying a little more to go somewhere else.

Well except maybe that Knead has the best masseuses that I have ever had. I am actually surprised that there page hasn't been flooded with comments because they are that good. You will love their massages and the heated tables...oh so cozy!

I get massages once a week, so when I saw on citysearch that Knead was open on Thanksgiving Day, I made an appointment, what I hadn't realized was how fantastic this place was going to be. I left feeling great and only spending $48, made it even that much better. I have had a soreness in my neck that just hasn't gone away, but Rachel my masseuse, realized that my hips were off and that the way I sit at work(lawyer) are all affecting my neck, so she didn't just rub my inflammed muscle but actually made me feel better. The only thing that I am kicking myself for is that I didn't buy a package, because this is my new spot. When I find something this good I just cannot allow myself to be selfish and not share. You must go to Knead!

I don't normally review a place, but this was impressive. I called in earlier in the day made the appointment with the uberhelpful girl at the desk and told her that I needed a deep tissue, i like it really deep, but i don't want it to hurt. She said she had the perfect therapist for me, which she did. I had only requested an hour, but switched after ten minutes to an hour and a half. What i walked out paying with a generous tip for an hour and a half I still had $15 bucks left in my pocket for what I would have paid for a 50 min at one of the full service spas sans the tip, and with a better massage than I have received in a long time. I think this is the best find in LA .

I came across Knead by just walking by, I went inside, figured I would it try it for $48 and if I didn't like it I wasn't out much. Inside it is beautiful, unlike most less expensive massage places, there are orchids everywhere and an ipod playing great music. The woman behind the counter was so friendly, she just chummed up to me right away, making me feel very comfortable. Then I was escorted back to my room by my therapist who asked me questions and gave me a perfect massage! I have been to the nicest spas in la and i haven't received as pleasurable a massage, the right amount of firmness and relaxation. I couldn't recommend this place any more. The price is great, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable and my day was made better.

One of the best examples in the city of affordable perfection. The price of the massage is a bargain for what you get, and you are simply lucky it doesn't cost more. Knead puts into focus what's important about the experience and has great masseurs and comfortable tables, and gives you an hour that will change your day. I was skeptical that the quality would be compromised for a low cost, but it was fantastic, and I like the idea that they are making something that seems like a luxury accessible to more people. It's worth it.
