Izziban Sushi is not Ichiban...just WAY BETTER!!

by Bill K.

I've tried all the sushi happy hours in Orlando... Ichiban better than Izziban???

I would strongly disagree with Sarah...No offense to Ichiban, they're happy hour is not bad if you only are looking for the simple boring rolls. Izziban offers much more selection and the value is hands down the best sushi happy hour in Orlando.

Drinks, appetizers, sushi, rolls....you name it, they got it. My friends and I go to Izziban at least 2-3 times a week for happy hour. If you're not sure, I'd suggest trying out both restaurants and you'll notice the difference.

Izziban Rocks

by Sandy J.

Izziban Sushi is my favorite sushi spot. They are located right across wachovia bank in the same parking lot as TGI Fridays on Orange Blossom Trail and Sand Lake Rd. Across the Florida Mall.

They have the most fresh and generous portions of sushi your ever going to find anywhere else. They have great service and awesome sushi chefs. The decor is very modern and colorful.

The sushi roll selection is huge and they all taste really good with lots of flavor, unlike many other places that use too much rice to make the rolls look bigger, here they actually put more tasty ingredients. Everything is presented beautifully. The kitchen food is delicious as the sushi.

I usually order a couple rolls along with a chicken bento box and a couple appetizers. You'll be blown away at the portions you receive, everything is too good to just type out. You'll have to try it yourself. The best time to go is during their happy hours everyday 5-7...sushi, rolls ,and appetizers only $3.50. I hit up the happy hour with my buds a few times a week, we can't get enough of this place.

Better sushi in the area

by Audie C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,228

Izziban is not that bad, however there are much better places in the area to get sushi. The interior of the establishment is sharp. The service is good and the selection of rolls is fair.

If you are by the Florida Mall and want sushi, give this place a try.

Izziban has a LOT of sake

by wispEyhe

I love trying new sake with my husband whenever we can have an oppportunity to try something we've never had before. We are amazed at how many high quality sakes are available at Izziban. They have a great sake sampler deal for only 10 bucks for 3 shots of different types of premium sakes that pair with ...either it was chicken or pork, then beef, and saefood. I would recommend the Sho chuku bi and Kurosawa sakes!

Pros: Great Premium Sake Selection

Excellent Japanese food

by PSigler

I've been going to izziban for quite a while now, but never actually ordered from the kitchen. I considered izziban as my sushi spot, which their sushi is very good-but after trying their Japanese dishes I was amazed at how good they were. After trying their bento box combinations for 3 days in one week, I brought in my cousin here for a surprise birthday. The whole family loves Izziban now and cant thank them enough for their warm hospitality and delicious food!

Pros: Execellent Japanese cuisine

This is my FAVORITE SUSHI restaurant in Orlando

by BillKohng

Izziban Sushi offers my favorite sushi rolls. They have such creative rolls that all taste so good...I am seriously ...officially addicted to this place. The sushi they have is at such a great value. The best times to go are during the early parts of their happy hour, they tend to get very crowded once it gets rolling. Try the the izziban roll and the mango roll...those rolls are to die for!

Pros: Best Sushi Rolls....sooo delicious...i'm hooked!

Quaint restaraunt in a hopping neighborhood...

by Qualizar

I love to go buy sushi as much as possible, and this place makes it possible. I have only been able to go here twice now, but both times have been absolutely amazing. Me and my wife came here on a busy Saturday afternoon when the Florida mall was packed, as soon as we stepped inside, the whole atmosphere changed. The setup is very nice, modernistic, yet still is able to hold the Oriental styling. Even though it was partially busy inside, it still seemed very quiet and relaxed. The waiter was very courteous (Have not been able to sit at the bar yet), and the suishi was very good.
I have only been to one better place I feel, and that was while I was visiting up in Maryland.
This will be my new favorite restaraunt for some time to come.

The best of the bests Sushi places and relaxing atmosphere!

by KholyYana

Sushi is my favorite food and I have visited planty of Japanise restaurants. Izziban sushi is the best! They have an amazing naturally relaxing atmosphere. Naturally because when I come there I feel like I am at home. Guys working there are very nice, friendly, and know exactly what they do. Manager is coming everytime to make sure that everything is fine.
I have always been choosing a table, but they also have a sushi bar where you can sit and watch how they make sushi. Talking about food I have to mention that all dishes are nourishing. My favorite roll is Sunset roll and when eat I can feel the taste of every nutrient in it - soft rice, gentle salmon...
It is not just a bunch of products together which have no harmony. There is a huge choice of rolls, sushi, sashimi, drinks, and so on.
Izziban sushi always makes good offers such as happy hour, or discounts on holidays.
Plus their location is very easy to find. It is right in the corner plaza on Sandlake and OBT crossing, next to Florida Mall.
This place is great for any occasion, whether it is a B-party, family or business meeting, romantic dinner, or first date.
Thank you Izziban!

Two eat for under $25

by topchef007

We love this place. My husband and I dine here at least once a week during their happy hour. We sit at the sushi bar, order 4 or 5 rolls and 2 or 4 nigiri pieces off the happy hour menu and spend around $25! And the sushi is delicious! The company is good too...the sushi chefs are friendly and engaging.

Pros: Happy hour and lunch prices

Cons: Regular prices

nearby Florida Mall...craving sushi...defintely check it out.

by bol1done

if your by the florida mall, try Izziban. I've been here just a few times before they started their happy hours, and they are always consistent with their quality of food and good service. I thought once they started happy hours that they would cut back on the quality and layout of their dishes. but i have to say that i am impresed with izzibans integrity and loyalty to their customers. they have a cool card you can get for free for repeat customers. I can;t think of any place that offers something like they do. its worth the visit.

Pros: customer loyalty, beautiful everything

Cons: service can get slow when they get a rush of customers..,but its understandable

Best Quality Happy Hour for Sushi you'll find in Orlando!

by pokemonster1

I love eating sushi, but like everybody else I dont have unlimited amounts of money to spend on sushi...which is unfortunate....BUT I love looking for great Happy Hour deals when I can. I've found other places before for cheap happy hour sushi, but that's exactly what you get...Cheap quality messy sushi....Not here. Wow. I was amazed at their $3.50 specials. Izziban delivers on fresh D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S quality and beautiful presentation. Their Happy hour deals are the best in town. I've been going nearly everyday for the lunch early bird 11am-12and dinner happy hours 5-7. Much props to Izziban. I'm Officially ADDICTED to IZZIBAN.

Pros: I'm lovin it

Cons: Get there early for Dinner Happy hour, it gets crowded fast... best to sit at the sushi bar

Amazing

by Alpha1Z

This place makes city search feel reliable...Izziban Sushi is amazing-the menu has a lot of authentic Japanese dishes....the appetizer menu alone is full of yummy traditional delicacies. The wasabi shumai and cream cheese dumplings (crab rangoon) makes my mouth watering for more just thinking about them. They have every type of sushi roll you could ask for. I went there with my friends twice in one day because it was so damn good. We love to sit at the sushi bar and watch the sushi chefs make sushi. There are screens at the sushi bar that plays movies and slideshows of customers to watch as you enjoy your sushi. Try the pineapple sake cocktail...that was awesome, best "saketine" I've ever had. The decor is fresh as their sushi. As far as the music goes, I guess they've updated it...lol glad we didn't have to listen to 80's music. a must go for sure!

by illumagirl

I agree with the review below...the music is tacky and very distracting. The decor and layout of the place is really nice. Service is just ok. the menu is great and I really enjoyed the rolls we ordered. I also orderd white tuna sashimi which they gave you a nice cut of.

Pros: selection of rolls, great tasting sushi

Cons: service and music

they don't skimp on the fish!!

by zoeymay

Afte reading reviews and hearing about thier sake 2 4 1 my husband and i decided to go. I am a big fan of Shari, which I highly reccomend, however Izziban is much closer to us and Shari can get so crowded at times. The decor was way cute and the space was big and airy. It was a nice change from the so small sushi joints around town. We started with the fried calamari which was excellent. it came with 2 dipping sauces which were good as well. My husband got the chicken tempura which came with a huge bowl of miso(which was the best i ever tasted) and a nice portion of ginger salad. The portions are huge. AS for the sushi, the poritons were huge as well. The prices are a little more than average but once you get your meal, you see why. My roll had soo much fish in it which was awesome. usually places skimp on that and give you more rice ..not here. Everything was really good and the 2 for 1 sake and wine was a plus.

one compaint!! the music. it totally didn't go with the atmosphere which is trendy and chill. Lionel Ritchie, Celine Dion, ect played the entire time. It transported me to a skating ring back in the 80's!! A nice ambiant or electronic mix would have been nice. I want to go back but hopefully they change the station!

Pros: the poritons, freshness and decor

Cons: the service, the music playing

very impressed

by SJtown

izziban was very impressive. My girlfriend and I stumbled across this place on accident looking for what use to be saucy bellas (italian restuarant)....was slightly disappointed that they were not here anymore, but I love sushi anyway so I gave it a try. defintetely loved what they did with the decor and new liquor bar and sushi bar. I got to sample several sake's and now I know my favorite is Kurosawa. We would definitely reccoment the izziban roll, that was our favorite. Our server was very friendly and was very attentive. I guess it varies customer to customer, but we definitely had a great time and will be back very soon. I hope they stick around longer than saucy bellas did, because there aren't very many good sushi spots like this nearyby.

I should have followed my instinct

by RadikalChic

I know a better place...
After reading these reviews I decided to go with my husband to Izziban. We love sushi and sashimi and we are regular customers of Oriental House (in the opposite corner of OBT and Sand Lake, next to Outback).
We liked the first impression of the restaurant (modern and nice) although not many people.
We asked 5 minutes to read the menu and we started ordering. When we asked for a recommendation of sake, the waiter was not very sure about dry or sweet. Summarazing, it took 30 minutes for us to start drinking. Then, the food took 40 minutes (1 sashimi sampler, a salmon skin roll and Izziban or Hawaian roll).
Two of these were fine but the 3rd was immerse in sauce of maionaise, ketchup and cream cheese.
Then we decided to ask for Happy Roll and this was fast because they were already closed.
The roll came ok but cream cheese or other cream in excess.
We like japanese food and sushis but we like when we can feel the taste of everything, not a mask of cream.
I recommend you try to find Oriental House and you will be surprised how good is the food, how intimate is the atmosphere, wiaters have knowledge and price is honest.

Pros: Decor

Cons: Excess of cream cheese and mayo

a very Refreshing experience

by rollexpress

This was a very refreshing experience. I went with my girlfriend last wed night because my friends have been telling me about this new sushi spot. The decor was very easy on the eyes..simple and clean. The restaurant is very openly spaced and has a very peaceful vibe to it. The food was very big in portions and very delicious. Kitchen food and sushi rolls was presented very nicely. The music and the overall atmoshpere is defintely a plus for anybody who wants to go out on a nice date. Prices were reasonable comparable to any other sushi resaurant in town.

Pricey, but about the best sushi so far in Orlando

by MelbournCM

I am from Southern California and only a year and a half ago moved to Orlando. I am used to going to ethnic restaurants where I am the only "white guy" in the place and enjoy all types of Asian food. Izziban was one of my recent attempts and the best sushi that I've had in Orlando. First, the selection is outstanding. As a matter of fact, it's difficult at times to decide! There are so many rolls and specialty rolls to choose from. There is also a menu of traditional style Japanese dishes outside the realm of sushi - I can highly recommend the Nabeyaki Udon... it tastes wonderful and is a huge portion. Second, the quality is very good. Despite my love of sushi, I do not generally like seafood and shy away from anything with a "seafood" or "fishy" taste. One of the first characteristics of good sushi is the quality of the Nori. If the nori is rubbery and / or tastes fishy, than stay away from the sushi. Izziban's nori on each of my three visits was extremely fresh as was all of the fish. Third, service was great. I was always seated promptly, orders were taken promptly, and food was served within a reasonable amount of time. One sign of service in my opinion regards refills of drinks - i never saw the bottom of my glass, which is exceptional service! I should also mention that desert was very good. I ordered the green tea ice cream and was served three scoops drizzled liberally with chocolate and topped with some whipped cream. Actually, the green tea ice cream tasted wonderful, but I could have done without the chocolate (i think it overpowered the green tea). This is a permanent addition to my sushi restaurant list while in Orlando.

Pros: Excellent quality, excellent service

Cons: Certainly on the expensive side (but weighed out by the quality)

A wonderful surprise

by KaylaW

I recently took a Monday off and had planned on meeting up with my boyfriend for lunch. We love sushi, and try to check out any local places. He suggested Izziban, and to be honest I've never noticed it. It was well worth the stop! They had such an aray of rolls, more than I had ever seen anywhere else. I'm more of a sashimi girl, but I couldn't help but try out some specialty rolls. We got a few, but the Strawberry and Mango roll was so unique and different. It was fabulous! I was so impressed with everything. We're already talking about going back very soon. I can't wait to try more from this restaurant. It could possibly be my new favorite sushi spot!

better than other sushi places in Orlando

by dazd_n_confzd

I've lived in Los Angeles all my life so I am used to a very wide collection of sushi restaurants. And in my opinion (just an opinion) it is hard in America to find a location other than L.A., Las Vegas, and NYC that has the high demand of sushi chefs and the quality that those highly populated areas require, until I visited this place. My bf lives in Orlando and has taken me to other sushi restaurants in more popular locations like one on Orange Ave. (I won't name names you'll just have to figure it out), and this was without doubt a hundred times better!

OK, well I go for the sake, sushi, and sashimi, so if you go for other things on the menu, I couldnt offer a suggestion, but my bf I had ordered the California, Happy, Alaska, Rainbow, and Super Dragon rolls and they were all terrific. For one, they almost never fall apart easily in your chopsticks which certainly means they were made well, as opposed to so many other sushi restaurants that boast about their sushi, only to have it end up splashing into pieces in your soy. Second, unlike so many other places, it was refreshing to try rolls that wouldnt start to taste like the rest, clearly the ingredients are fairly fresh and still have a distinct flavor.

The only thing I might just nitpick about, just a little, would be the amount of cream cheese they put in their sushi. I am not really a big fan of cream cheese unless its on a bagel, and only a tiny bit, but when I would bite into the roll sometimes it tasted more like i was having a mouthful of fried cream cheese with a piece of salmon. But other than that the sushi is fantastic!

Pros: Well made/ ample parking as opposed to downtown

Cons: not recommended if you like dark candlelight atmosphere

LIKE SUSHI & SAKE? TRY THIS PLACE OUT!

by sakemon101

my wife and I came by earlier last week and was told about the weekly Sunday Sake and wine tasting after our meal. It sounded like our type of gig to check out. we came by on sunday with our friends and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves... maybe too much. lol we had to sober up a little bit after ordering 5 bottles of Kizakura Tokuri-ikkon which is one of the best nigori sake's I've ever had. I hope we weren't too loud while we were there. It was the most fun I've had in a while. I believe they have 70 different kinds of sake ranging from sweet and dry flavors. It was $45 a person for 5 shots sake and 4 glasses of wine with two very delicious rolls (I can't remember what they were called, i believe one of them was the izziban roll) to compliment the sake flavors and a bowl of edamame. if you like sushi or sake...izziban is the place to be!

Pros: Sushi and large variety of SAKE

Cons: None

Awesome Service, Delicious Sushi, Amazing Atmosphere, Definitely TWO THUMBS UP!

by sammynakamura1

I usually come in to eat with my coworkers 2-3 times a week during our lunch break and we are definitely addicted. I just came in with my family and friends last Friday night for my son's birthday and it was absolutely amazing. The food and service was very excellent as usual.

There are so many different choices on the menu that even my son's friends who didn't want to try eating sushi had many cooked dishes to choose from. There are also many rolls that are baked tempura style for sushi beginners who rather not taste anything raw. The management took our picture for their sushi bar slide show and my son received a free fried tempura ice cream for his birthday that was delicious... Props to the management and great service!

Pros: Everything

Cons: More people need to find out about this place!

Izziban Sushi = #1 in Orlando

by hanssoloz

I've been to literally hundreds of different sushi restaurants all over the world from Japan to all over the states here in the US, and I was absolutely stunned tonight. I moved to Orlando a couple months ago and visited several sushi restaurants to find the best one...and conveniently Izziban Sushi just opened up recently right by my home near Florida Mall. It is definitely the best I've been to in Orlando. The interior decorating brings a perfect fusion atmosphere. I prefer traditional style sushi, so I ordered some tuna, flounder, and yellow tail sashimi. It's very exciting that I finally found a place that has very fresh sushi. I also tried the Izziban roll which is their most popular roll, I typically don't like anything cooked/fried when I have sushi, but to my surprise this roll was actually very good. I am very impressed.

Pros: Everything

Cons: need more locations in Orlando so everybody can find out about this place

Absolutely no good

by palmtree011

After reading all the wonderful reviews on this site, I finally decided to give this restaurant a try and boy was I disappointed.

I went there during lunch service, everything was wrong from the very beginning.

My table was a little dirty and very sticky. I found some masago eggs on the table. They could've taken a minute to wipe down the table after the last group left., but they didn't.

The grilled chicken was way overcooked and from the looks of it, the chef tried to hide their mistake by covering it with a LOT of sauce. It not only looked bad, I can't even see or taste the chicken anymore.

The sushi was not only oily but it doesn't even taste good. I ordered their specialty roll, the izziban roll, and all I could taste was cheese. And from the looks of the menu, cheese is pretty much in all their rolls. I don't see how people could eat this food and not get grossed out after the first roll. I ate four pieces and couldn't finish the rest.

Sushi is supposed to be a blend of ingredients meant to complement each other, not have one ingredient overpower everything else. If they can't get this right, they shouldn't even be in business.

Pros: free appetizers, good host, decent server

Cons: everything else

Same Sushi, Different Names

by anchor821

This place talks about a large variety but all in all, there isn't much variety between their rolls. Wayyyy too much cheese and mayo: everything tastes the same in the end, but the tuna itself is pretty good. Service was okay. Im not sure if he was floor manager or what but the guy was a little bit overwhelming, way too eager to please. I've been there twice already, and if you only want traditional rolls, this isn't the place for you.

Pros: fresh fish

Cons: too many mayo and cheese covered rolls

Finally good sushi by Florida Mall!

by pamchownwai

Izziban serves up good sushi with excellent service. During my visit, our friendly waitress offered up a free appetizer--a very nice gesture--kudos to the management. Although my fried tofu appetizer was not the best I've encountered, their sushi combo was above average and just perfect with a cold bottle of Kirin.
The restaurant is modernly furnished and posseses an inviting zen-like vibe which is a good anecdote to a bad day at the office.

Pros: Free appetizer on our visit, very friendly staff

Creative rolls and fast lunch shift. Good customer service

by superionmagic

The service and attention to patrons ,without having to sit at the bar directly, is something that in itself makes this a very good sushi restaurant. Tasty renditions with common sushi rolls make their menu refreshingly creative. The idea of cheese rolls and chicken rolls are definite in going outside the box in this area of food preparation.

Pros: Great taste for sushi and very good service, Jiah was very good.

Cons: Creativity has a price, but what you pay is worth the experience.

Great Service and

by donotxme_101

I visited Oct.6 around 7pm.We were greeted and seated right away and was actually asked if we wanted a booth or a tabel. There menu is full of pictures so it helps to make the right choice.I would recommend the
OBT Roll,it was the best out of the 3 that I ordered. If you like a lot of toppings on your sushi try the Dynamite
Roll, all thought it was not that spicy as I thought it would be(but I like spicy). They have a very nice selection of sushi which range form 4.99 and up. They have 2 big flat screen tv's which is in perfect view from any seat. They're on the Corner of Sandlake and OBT in the Ross/Friday's Plaza.

DON'T FORGET TO GRAB A TO GO MENU : )
