on Friday, June 5, 2009 at approximately 1130 pm. I recently moved to the area and this was my second time visiting this bar in a one week period. On Friday, my boyfriend and I came in and we saw that the corner TV advertised that Hurricane drinks were $4 each so we ordered two. After we placed the order, I confirmed with the female bartender that the drinks were $4 each. She then replied snidely "no they're not, we didn't have time to change the advertisement; if don't want the drinks then whatever." We kept the drinks despite her nasty remarks to us. After we finished that drink we got our check and noticed that she charged us $9 per drink when the drink menu clearly states that they are $8 each. I said to the bartender, "the price of our drinks is incorrect in this check." She replied "no, it's right, just look at the menu" and she pointed at the menu in front of us. I was very upset at the situation and I went ahead and paid the $18 for the two drinks and gave no tip (obviously).

I also visited this bar for lunch on Saturday, May 30, 2009. The waitress was nice, however she forgot parts of our order and had to return to the table 3 times to ask us what we ordered. We sat at a dirty table for 15 minutes before she finally cleaned it. There were only 2 tables occupied at the restaurant at the time. She forgot our chips and salsa and I had to interrupt her conversation with the bartender to ask her about the chips. I ordered the hard shell shredded chicken tacos and it came with rice and beans. The chicken was very bland and the hard taco shells were soggy when they arrived. The rice was very hard and dry as if they had been sitting out all day or were a day or two old. The waitress appeared drunk and rarely came to check on us. She only came to us when she had to go to another table.

The only good aspect was the margaritas. That's the only reason why I came back a second time and I totally regretted that. I will never again visit this bar and I will tell as many people as I can not to go there as well.

I went to many Mexican places in NYC and non of them had better Margaritas than this place. The staff was very friendly and the bartenders made great drinks. If you ever go here make sure you try the carne esada steak.

Cons: Parking is a hassle because of location

This could be a fun hang out spot on the Upper East Side. The food and drinks are average, but the restaurant/bar atmosphere is fun and easy going. The outdoor patio is nice on a warm night and the TV's are perfect for catching your favorite game.

I never write bad reviews but this time I feel like I need to share this horrible experience.

After ordering a pitcher of sangria (which tasted like water) and a big appetizer platter we ordered a pitcher of frozen strawberry margarita. We poured four drinks (half of the pitcher) and drank our margaritas. When we filled up our glasses for the second time and got to see the bottom of the pitcher we noticed THERE WAS A RECEIPT AT THE BOTTOM, a wet wrinkled receipt at the bottom INSIDE our margarita pitcher.

Of course we called the waitress who apologized to us (it wasn't her fault since she doesn't make the drinks) and she sent over a man (it took him like 10 minutes to come to our table), he must have been the bartender because she surely did not behave like a manager should. He basically said " what's the problem?" and we told him about what we had found inside the pitcher to which he replied "BUT IT'S JUST A PAPER", so we told him it was unhygienic and that it didn't matter it was just a paper because nothing other that margarita should be inside that pitcher...so he said "BUT YOU GUYS DRANK HALF OF THE PITCHER" and that's when we got extremely offended because if we had known there was a dirty receipt at the bottom we would have NOT even touched it (it was frozen so it was impossible to see the bottom before it was empty).

To conclude...we told him we were not ok with paying for that pitcher and he gave us a weird look like we had put that thing inside on purpose . It took them like 30 minutes to send us the check.

Of course I am not going back. Not just because of their dirtiness but mainly because of this man's attitude.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Tequila Jack's has a plethora of drinks available but I opted for a margarita (they serve them on the rocks) because of the name. It wasn't very strong but it was also large and inexpensive so I got what I paid for. I was hoping to socialize more, but everyone else there was grouped off and demurely keeping to themselves, despite there being plently of room, and a back room with a pool table. I was also expecting more ambiance since it's in a pretty nice area, but there was none--just the typical colored bar lights. The place was also very scummy (dirty floors, flaking walls). The kitchen stays open late and the food was surprisingly good. I'd go back for a regular night out with friends, but it's nothing special... just a regular bar.

randomly went into tequila jacks the other night for a few beers with friends. it was a chill, laid-back place with great happy hour specials. watched sports on the tvs (sadly) but that is going to happen everywhere now that it is the playoffs and football season. all in all a good time had by all. I would def go back again.
