Great Sushi
If you're looking for delicious sushi and an incredibly fun atmosphere, Adaro is the place to be! This is a great place to come with friends!!! You bring your own bottles, and they encourage you to sake bomb- on the house! Crazy Joe (waiter) is hilarious!!! The rolls are really, really tasty too!!! Enjoy!
Pros: Never too crowded, Great Wait-Staff, Delicious Rolls, Fun Atmosphere
Cons: They charge $$$ for birthday cake

Great Sushi, Lotta Fun, Best-Kept Secret in Midtown
We LOVE this restaurant! Joe and his crew service fantastic Pan-Asian food, shockingly good. The decor is sleek modern, with bright colors. We stumbled in, because we were staying next door at the Parker Meridien, and we kept going back! And they definitely have a liquor license -- Joe got us flying with Sake-beer bombs, sitting at our table, eating our food (!), then sending lots of extra food and drinks. We left feeling like everybody in Adaro was our new friend.
Often-times, "pan-Asian" restaurants can't be trusted, since their kitchen is spread too thin with different styles. But all their food is DELICIOUS! The sushi is fresh and clever, with unusual crunchy goodies in the rolls. The standard cooked Japanese (teriyaki, Miso, etc.) is good. And the Chinese is terrific: The peppery Mapo tofu is some of the best I've ever had. The staff also enthusiastically improvised dishes, making up a sunny-side fried quail egg sandwich just for our little girl. Their posted closing time is 11:30 p.m. on weekends, but they stayed open an extra hour with us, just because we were all having so much fun! This place is a total winner.
Pros: Tasty food, great service, friendly staff, cool decor

great food and great fun
My two best friends took me here Thursday night for my birthday dinner. I am NOT a big sushi eater, but still always open to new places. We got there before 7pm and it was empty, and did fill up as the night progressed. Upon entering, walk upstairs, since no alcohol, bar downstairs closed... but BYOB is better anyways. The manager (and owner I think) Joe sat next to us and took our menus away and just asked some basic questions of what we like, spicey/non, etc.. and then the food kept coming. I don't know what I ate, but it was great. The service was amazing, our wine glasses never went under a 3rd empty before someone grabbed the bottle and refilled, and took emply plates away without hesitation. We were doing saki-bombs with him and even did saki shot with another birthday party there at the next table. Dessert was a tempura cheesecake wih a birthday candle and then a green-leaf tea cake. Fortune cookies are a standard, but if you're with a fun group, we got the "adult" fortune messages. I will definitely go back again!
Pros: good food, great service
