My daughter is bi-racial and I have a hard time doing her hair. A friend of mine told me that she goes to this salon & told me take my daughter. I was very happy with the result and my daughter could not stop looking at her herself in the mirror. It was shiny and silky. People could not believe it was all natural. If you are having the same struggles with your daughters hair you should try this place out. All I have to do now is wrap my daughter's hair at night and brush it in the morning.

When I began going to The Place I was relaxing my hair and wishing for long hair. It was like no matter how long I let my hair grow out it just was not growing. Because I have naturally curly hair getting a relaxer made my hair more manageable. My stylist began talking to me about the health of my hair. She advised me that with conditioning treatments, getting frequent trims, and visiting the salon every 2 weeks I could reach my goal of natural, long hair. I am truly satisfied!! And even when I can't afford to go every 2 weeks I can wear my hair curly and it still looks healthy and amazing. My hair has been growing and I can feel the difference in my hair. I like to go during the week, usually on Mondays and the stylist that is there on Mondays, Gladys, has me in and out in 45mins. If you are thinking about leaving the relaxer behind visit this salon!!!!

I had naturally curly hair. I went in to get my hair straight. It was nice for a day or two. I then noticed my hair was coming out in clumps in the shower. I had naturally curly hair and now my hair won't curl anymore. For months my hair was coming out. They put some type of chemical in my hair. I called them and they deny everything. Please don't go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the first time i went to this salon it was great. my hair is natural and they got it very straight and nice. i went back for a second straightening and i got it washed and then sat under the dryer with something in my hair. i was led back to the sink for my rinse and the girl rinsed it in maybe 30 sec. i was kinda shocked that she got whatever she had in there, out so quickly. i was quickly led to the seat and i felt my hair because i couldnt believe that they got it out so fast. i sat down and one girl held my head steady while the other lady pulled the living life out of my hair as she combed it out in a huge hurry. i was in pain and she was rushing the whole time. she used a flat iron, pressing comb and blow dryer and it was straight. i get home to realize that my hair felt kinda course. one week later i washed it and my hair was falling out. they put some sort of chemical in my hair that is making my hair fall out and its not natural anymore. my ends are straight and my roots are nappy like i need a perm. i think the mystery product they didnt rinse out all the way was some perm or something.my hair is nothing like it used to be. the only reason i am writing this is because i just washed it and did my deep conditioner..trying to make it grow back because its super thin and limp now. anyway, i just noticed a new patch of hair that is missing. i am so pissed off that these ladies did this and i honestly think they will do this to someone else. i called them and they said that they dont know what i am talking about and that they dont use products from the dominican republic cuz they dont have any connections there at all. i got screwed over big time. i have to get a weave now or a wig b/c my nice healthy hair is now all gone. ladies dont go here b/c it may be fine the first few times but there is always a chance...also, i have had natural long hair for 6 years.

They got my hair so straight!!! I've never been to a Dominican Salon or anyone that used rollers for my blow out and I love the results that way. Just my opinion. I am African American with natural hair and I would recommend this place to anyone. The only thing is I think the trim may have been a little more than a trim. But my hair looked great when I left there!

Well I fist went their for a wash and set...I am used to other Dominican salons but the Place is closer to my home. Even though I made an appointment, I had to wait for a while because apparently they were out shopping!Anyway, they washed my hair, put me under the dryer with deep condition, then washed it out put me under the dryer to dry my hair(no rollers). Then I had a blow out and style which seriously I could have done better! (and I'm no hair pro)...anyway, paid the 45 bucks and I left their pissed vowing to never go back!Stupid me, 3 weeks later I decided to go back for a relaxer. Made an appointment 3 days before and called and hour before to make sure my appointment was held and they told me they had no record of me (should of been a sign!!) I still went, got the relaxer done, washed out, shampooed, conditioned (NOT DEEP), then put under the dryer...afterwards, got a blow out and flat ironed...SO NO ROLLERS, NO TRIM, NO DEEP CONDITIONER and yet it was still $75!!!! My hair just looked limp and stupid on my head! That just did it for me! Then the Gladys chick has the audacity to tell me that I didn't request the rollers (DAMN IT IF ITS PART OF IT DO I NEED TO REQUEST IT)???? Anyway, I have dealt with other hair salons and they are not even ranked on my list of decent ones...the only plus is that the INTERIOR of the salon is looks cute, but as far as performance, they really suck! SO AGAIN I WONT BE BACK AND DON'T RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL!

I Love Love Love This Salon. I went there with my hair severely damaged with split ends and I have natural hair. Gladys did a fantastic job with me, my hair has NEVER been straighter even back when I got relaxers. I paid $45 for a wash, blow, and trim. These ladies work wonders!!! I promise you'll get the results your looking for at this place. My hair is back healthy and growing. This is my home now lol.

Perfect for women of color with natural hair! The way they flat iron your hair works wonders! Not putting anyone down...but i went to a African-American shop soon after i washed my hair from the first flat iron and they Did Not produce the same results. They didn't even get my roots good at all. Any time i need my hair flat The Place is where i go!

I would not recommend the place to anyone since Gladys left. The people that took over are obviously non-professional and rude to customers. They seem to charge whatever they see fit now instead of a set price. The price list info board that was hanging over the front counter was taken off after Gladys left so now when you go there, you're in for a big surprise as far as not only customer service but also the price. The last time I went there I was so frustrated that I never went back. When I walked in, I specifically told the girl that I did not wish to have my hair deep conditioned because I had just treated my hair only to find out at the end that she charged me for deep conditioning because according to her, it was not optional..

I have been going to The Place Hair Salon for about three months. When I first went there I had a good amount of damage to my hair because of several permanent colors I'd used in my hair. In the time since I have been going there, not only has my hair stopped falling out, but areas that I thought would never grow back have started filling in quickly. The prices are decent ($35 for a wash and set, $40 for a wash and blow), and the stylists are familiar with doing black women's hair who usually have relaxers and processed hair. The staff is a little slow and there can sometimes be a bit of a language barrier, so be prepared to spend some time there before you are finished, but overall it is a great salon.
