Poor Customer Service and Highway Robbery

They told me that my motherboard crashed and said it would cost $1000 to replace it. I decided to buy a new computer and told them to recover my data. I am not a computer expert by no means. They charged me $375 to recover data on a hard drive that isn't broken and all I needed to do is buy a 2.5" enclosure that sell for $10 and runs on USB 2.0. Not knowing that they have no problem taking your money. They may not charge to diagnose but they get there monies worth. $375 and all I needed was a $10 part !!!!!!!!

Jeff the manager was extremely short with me and even verbally attack me asking for calling back several times to find out more information on the progress of my laptop and why I called back to ask how much memory was recovered not knowing what size external HDD to bring them.

Take my word for it customer service like this shouldn't be in business! NO Stars

Excellent Service from Oncall

When my brand new computer broke for the first time I was in hysterics. I randomly found Oncall 258 through Google search and filled out a service request form. Within 24 hours I had a confirmation e-mail telling me my problem was received. 48 hours later I had a real, live person on my phone telling me to bring it in. Nestled in Alexandria, the people at Oncall (Steve & Co.) are very friendly, personable, fair in their prices, and reassuring. Since I live in Maryland I was also grateful that there was no deadline to pick up or drop off my computer, as Alexandria is a little far. The customer service and prices are completely reasonable: the diagnosis is absolutely free! I couldn't find a better deal anywhere else. I highly recommend them to anyone who isn't technologically savvy. My last service with them was absolutely free! I will definitely be bringing my computer back to them in the future.

My Guys are Oncall

Steve and the techs at Oncall are great! I have gone through numerous problems with my laptop and they were sympathetic and helpful at every step. From a dying hard drive through bios errors and a virus thrown in for a little fun... They always came back in record time and a reasonable price. One service was even at no charge - you can't beat free! You can even buy 'hours' of service that don't expire and are not machine specific. I will gladly trust them with any future concerns and have already recommended them to friends griping about computer concerns.

Retired Grandmother Trumps Computer Technicians!

After spending 6 hours total with Verizon online technical support configuring my new wirelessnwired router, my Internet Explorer would not display pages. I am a nurse, not a computer weenie, so I called "Oncall 25/8" to come and help me get my internet working correctly. They came out to the house right on time and proceeded to "examine" the two computers in the house, along with the router that I had just installed. After about an hour, they called their "mother ship" and told them what it was going to take to fix the computers' problem and then told me it would cost me $319 to fix the issue. That was a lot of money for me considering I just bought my daughter a brand new laptop for $800. But, they were already here and assured me that it would be corrected for this amount. After about 2 1/2 hours they tell me that the problem is the DSL coming into the house and that until it is repaired, there is nothing they can do. I ask them "point blank" if when the DSL is repaired if the computers will be fixed and they tell me "yes". So, my husband and I each take of a 1/2 day to be there for the Verizon technician, only to have him prove "beyond a shadow of a doubt" that the DSL is, in fact, coming into the house at the correct speed (as a matter of fact, 4X faster than what we are paying for). So, we call "Oncall 25/8" back and tell them that the DSL is repaired and the problem still exists. After much discussion with my husband, they reluctantly agree to come back out and see if they can rectify the situation. The technician practically said that there was absolutely nothing that could be done to the computers on site and that he would have to take at least the newer computer back to the shop for diagnostics, but that was all he could do...he could not get Windows Internet Explorer to display web pages correctly.
Enter my mother, a retired federal government worker, who downloaded the instruction manual from the new router, found out that there was a "downgrade" that needed to be downloaded, and that the factory settings needed to be restored after the download. Then, the computers were rebooted and they are running faster than they have ever run before!!! So, my advice to anyone considering hiring "Oncall 25/8"....call my mother first! We asked for our money back and were told that they will not do that, so I am doing the next best thing and warning anyone who may consider using this company.

Bad and expensive!

They sucks, charge a lot and bad customer service, don't even think to go there! Have my laptop fixed there, it broke after 1 week, called them they say unrelated problem and need to replace the motherboard, already paid 275 for the repair.

They were unable to recover the information from a destroyed thumb drive, however were successful in recovering the same information from a damaged external hard drive I had dropped. 25/8 was quick, professional and cost-effective, and I highly recommend them to anyone in need of a computer repair.

These guys are unprofessionall! don't use them.

Hi, this is not a good company at all. They will try to charge you lots of money, they will give fake diagnostics, may be with the price they will ask you you can go ahead and buy a new computer.

They will say they they do a "free" diagnostic, they will try to pick up your machine "for free", if they got it you are trapped, and if you opt not to do the repair they will ask you for $50 delivery fee! My advice to you: don't trust these guys!

I had issues with my laptop and I called onCALL 25/8 to repair my computer. A technician came to my home and took my computer to their shop and returned it back to me in a very timely manner. Several days later, the same problem happened with my computer again. I called onCALL 25/8 again and a technician returned to my home and fixed my laptop on the spot...for FREE!!! onCALL 25/8's customer service and professionalism, along with the friendly and knowledgeable technicians, made it a pleasure for me to do business with them. I would call upon onCALL 25/8 again for all of my computer related problems.

These guys are excellent. They did great work on my laptop, and were willing to work within my budget, did I mention that they were pretty fast? I would highly recommend using them instead of sending a computer back to the manufacturer which could take months.

On Call 25/8 Saved My Laptop and my Relationship!

My cat peed on my boyfriend's laptop--while it was open, right on the keyboard! He took the laptop to Best Buy, initially. They kept it for 2 weeks, sent it to Kentucky and back, only to tell us they wouldn't touch it. They wrapped it in a bright plastic bag and labeled it a biohazard!

So I took the laptop to On Call 25/8. I had first called after hours but got a tech on the phone quickly. He chuckled at my situation, said he'd dealt with a laptop that a toddler had peed on, and said there is hope. They were friendly, did the diagnostics within 48 hours as promised, and a couple days later the laptop was fully cleaned and fixed. I think their rates were competitive. It may seem a little expensive, but it was a lot of labor and they did a great job!

The laptop is fine and the boyfriend isn't so mad anymore (though he and the cat are not on great terms...) I recommend On Call 25/8 and would use them again!

On Call 25/8 did exactly what they said they were going to. My laptop had problems and my warranty had run out so I remembered using On Call 25/8 a few years ago and having a great experience. They are much faster than anyone else in the industry and tell you only the facts. Their message service quickly responded with a call when they said they would and was never late! They do a great job and explain it to you so you can understand. They answered every question I had and every time I spoke with any person on their staff it was nothing but courteous. And it was all within my budget!

easy to find...

came to see their place while i was driving along duke st. so when my pc broke its their store that first came to my mind, oncall 25/8. i visit and brought my pc with me. they ask me to leave it and call them after 24hours. and then they already told me what was wrong and fixed it. these guys knew what they were doing and im confident that they really do. right now im satisfied how my pc works, faster than ever.

GREAT WORK 25/8

My PC wouldn't work at all due to a virus that got on my Machine. I was using Comcast.net McAfee free virus protection with the Comcast Broadband Internet sevice that I use provides. Comcast wqs no help they referred me to McAfee which is in their office. McAfee was no help they referred to to HP. HP said my computer was no longer under warranty and for $49.95 I could purchase a 15 day warranty. I told them if I had to pay them that I would call a computer repair service. So I called onCall 25/8 because of my excellent past service that I had with them. I had a technician out the very next day and he discovered that my whole system was taken over by a virus. That was on a Thursday and I called on Saturday like the Technician told me to. MY computer was fixed by Monday like he promised and it was delivered to me on Tuesday. Thank you, Nima for delivering my computer so fast. and Keith for helping me today getting my Internet favorites .
Everytime I called at got courteous service with people that all cared about my problems and solved them.

Let me explain my bad experience with oncall 25/8

1. I asked for a free diagnosis for my gateway laptop and they were pretty diligent in picking up the laptop.

2. after 3 days I was still waiting for a quote from them so I called and got to know it costs a bomb to fix it. (I knew what the problem was with my laptop - an inverter had gone bad and because of that I had no display)

They said they will have to replace my LCD (wrong Diagnosis) because know it was only the inverter

3. since I knew their diagnosis was incorrect... I told them I won't go ahead with troubleshooting - then they were ready to bargain - reduce the price...

4. But I got to know from multiple reviews online that they are not good.

to cut the long story short when I did get my laptop back after almost 3 weeks - The LCD screen was damaged (broken), USB was damaged.

Now I really have to replace my LCD - I feel helpless - Already filed a complaint with BBB

My first encounter with Oncall25/8 was last year and not being a 'computer savvy' person needed experienced help so looked through the phone book. I called three company's and only one returned my call which was 25/8 and an appointment was made for the next day. The tech arrived gave a diagnostic and I accepted he took my computer to the workshop to clean-up viruses and run ant-virus software. I had my computer back with 24 hours the tech offered me a 'buying time' which means that should I need help again I had already paid for it.
A couple of days ago I uncounted problems again i.e printer not working and computer very slow I made an appointment and this time two techs arrived...one of which was a trainee...they were both professional, respectful overall very pleasant. They went to work and within under one hour had the whole job done...which included a general clean up of miscellaneous items and up dated my anti-virus program. The fee....nothing, not one cent as I purchased three and half hours on the previous occasion.This leaves me with two and a half hours in credit for any future help that I may need.
Well Done 25/8 the techs are 'keepers' and I have already spread the 'good news' to colleagues and friends.

On Call 25/8 - Gold Standard for Repair Service.

The computer repair firm On Call 25/8 is the gold standard for outstanding technical service at a fair price. Our family consists of five adults, including three college students.

I am responsible for insuring that all home information technology equipment is up and running. This feet is possible through our business association with the computer wizards and the quality control oversight provided by the 25-8 management.

I came to the On Call 25-8 computer repair firm after experiencing frustrations and below standard service provided by two local major retail chains.

We depend upon On Call 25-8 and expect to pay for the quality of the expertise and the service provided.

If you are the type who never pays for your software or lets your woman give birth in the back of the ambulance as a way to save money, On Call 25-8 is not for you. Nor is it the place to air your psychiatric problems.

All members of my family depend upon their computer equipment to meet their responsibilities on the job, at school, and as volunteers supporting community emergency services. The computer repair firm of On Call 25/8 provides the means to keep all of our equipment ready and fully functioning.

"Repaired computer" for $250

We had an older computer and OnCall convinced us to bring it in for updates, repairing the disk drive and getting it back up to speed. We paid $250 for a 6 yr old computer that operates about the same as it did before we brought it in. It took twice as long to "fix" as they said it would. We actually had to bring it in twice after the first "fix"-all they seemed to do was load a new internet program on it-we couldn't even get the disk drive to work at all-they wiped the computer (again) and had to reload everything. Of course they don't tell you how much work it is for you-I had to reload all my personal programs (like photo programs and such), couldn't get my email to work, had to call them 3 times to fix things over the phone. I can't recommend it-I should've used the $250 to buy a new computer...
Lesson learned!

I want to commend onCALL for the outstanding service I've received from their technicians.
Larry recently responded to my request in a timely manner . He found the problem in a matter of minutes. My computer went to their shop and was serviced and returned in a few days, working better than before.
Their technicians are extremely polite and they answer all of my questions.
I've had a contract with them and renewed, due to their outstanding service. It's always a pleasure working with the onCALL technicians.

5 weeks and still broken...

They gave my laptop back to me still broken claiming they had fixed it a couple weeks after I gave it to them. (They had not). Five weeks into my oncall experience they properly diagnosed the problem but decided to give it back to me still broken because they thought it was best if I took it to the manufacturer. I did get a full refund and some free new parts, but I wish my computer worked...

Service was rude and condescending.

horrible service

firstly really think twice before repairing a computer compared to buying a new or even a used computer. i spent $300 to repair mother board 11 days later it broke and they said was unrelated. i could have bought a pretty good used laptop for not much more.

i think most people who walk in there don't realize the cost of just buying new. plus anyone who gives free estimate usually will take more in back end.
i would strongly tell u do not go there.

Hard to find power cord, they had it!!

I was having issues with my computer, so I bought the parts to build a new one, onCALL did a great job with that. A couple months down the road, I decided I needed the new PC to be the same as my old one, so I asked them if they could do this for me, AND THEY DID!!

Great computer repair service

Had problems with re-boot of laptop. Oncall 25/8 did a good job extracting and backing up my data. Although I later decided not to have any work done, they provided me with an external hardrive and with a five year warranty. Overall they were responsive, fast and straight-forward during the whole process.

When my computer became sluggish ansd unresponsive, Oncall 25/8 had it up and running in a couple of days They reinstalled all my software and files making sure that everything worked. Additionally they went over everything they did with me and made sure I could find all my files. My computer is up and running like new. Oncall 25/8's customer service is excellent.

Oncall 25/8 did exactly what they said they were going to do and that was fix my computer completely. The technicians were very knowledgeable and polite. They were able to get all of my issues resolved even when it involved tehm coming back to my house to make sure everything is right. They were still able to get my computer up and running the same as it was before. I was very pleased with their service and will certainly call them again in the future.

Great customer service oriented company.

I recently had oncall 25/8 install my new mac - they kept in touch with me throughout the day so I knew when they would be arriving and if they were going to be late. They have a very professional, customer service oriented approach to their business. After the mac was set up I had a couple of minor issues and difficulties. They were quick to schedule an appointment and give me a hand. Since they considered the additional work a part of the set up they additional work. Highly recommended!!

OnCall was great, unlike Dell support

My computer was running very slow, but OnCall 25/8 was able to get me fixed up and save me some money because my computer was still under warranty with Dell. Saved me a bundle. After spending a lot of time with Dell, the guys at Oncall were able to get my machine fixed quickly and did exactly what I wanted them to do. Dell was not able to get the issue resolved, but OnCall did. Great job all around. They were very courteous and efficient.

onCALL 25/8 saved my life!

I purchased new computer from a national chain. Their 'experts' lost all of my backup data and I thought life as I knew it was over. A good friend recommended 25/8, saying that they are very courteous and professional.

His recommendation was great. In one day, 25/8 reclaimed my files from my old computer and had me in business on my new one. I will be a customer for life.

Quick service!

on call 25/8 was really efficient in fixing my computer that has problems with the usb ports. Instead of replacing the motherboard like i asked, they corrected the problem and fixed it on the fly. I wanted it to be done on the same day, and they fixed it in just 4 hours. I am extremely pleasant with the efficiency and professionalism that on call 25/8 staff showed.
I would really recommended their service to anyone who needs help with computer repair.

I highly recommend using ON-Call 25/8. They have fast, friendly, and helpful service. I recently had a problenm with the AC jack onmy laptop. On-Call 25/8 responded out to me, picked up my computer and returned it to me in less than a week. Their prices are very competitive and in most cases less expensive than their competition

Great Experience!

I randomly found onCALL 25/8 Computer Repair in the Yellow Pages and wasn't sure what to expect, but have been pleasantly surprised. The staff was very nice and extremely helpful. The service was quick and the parts came with warranties (always a plus). As a non-computer person, I was a bit worried about be up sold with a lot of stuff I didn't really need, but that was not ever an issue. I would definitely recommend them to friends in need.

Good and quick service at reasonable price

I brought in my daughter's laptop HP which had a cracked LCD screen.
The personnel at oncall258 were extremely helpful, ordered the new screen the same day and the very next day were able to repair the laptop, and at a reasonable price.

I would recommend their service to anyone...

The staff at OnCall 25/8 is prompt to take your call and to work on your problem. They are excellent... they will get the job done and the computer back to you asap. No messin' around. They give good tips and advice on how to make things work better along with fixing the problem. I don't hesitate to recommend their services- they're really top of the line! Plus they are easy to talk to and they don't make you feel bad that maybe you don't know what you're doing in this new technology!
