We used to go to Bumsteads every weekend. The food is the best, We have since moved to Ohio (:()
and have not found a deli that is as good. We miss the owners - who were so nice to us. The king-kong ding dong is to die for. You will not be sorry once you have tried this place. The wait is worth it too!

I have been to bumsteads on a regular basis since discovering it this summer. Every time, i have gotten the frank and beans sandwich. it is an unusual combination of fried chicken, pastrami, homey mustard, and who knows what else. This is my all time favorite sandwich, and so huge that i always share it with a friend. the sweet potatoe fries are soooo good, and the very best thing is the enormous decadent chocolate cake. I always split the sandwich and the cake, and we both leave stuffed to the brim.

the atmosphere is young, vibrant, and fun. the severs are all friendly and helpful, but the service is a lot slower than would be desired.

great food and great prices more than make up for the wait

Bumstead's is a well-kept secret in Tucson because most native Tucsonians I've met have never heard of the place.

It's located on the corner of 4th Ave. and 6th St. right by the Chocolate Iguanga.

Bumstead's offers an AMAZING selection of sandwiches, subs, burgers and salads. Sandwiches come come on a variety of breads (wheat, marble rye, etc), and it also comes with chips. But for a dollar more, you can add a side salad or french fries. The fries are delicious and greasy, and you have your option of regular friends or sweet potato fries or a combination of both. And you can expect a generous serving of everything.

The atmosphere is very relaxed and casual, so come as you are. But be advised, that you will be there for a while. The food is great, but the service is incredibly slow.

Also, while you have a lot of food, save room for dessert. The front of the restaurant has an enormous dessert display with enormous cakes that are all delicious. I've tried them all, and my favorite is the German chocolate.

PROS: Amazing food, great prices, excellent portions, immediate seating, private parking in rear, relaxed environment
CONS: SLOW service...bring a book
